Wizard: Adventures in Two Worlds-Chapter 616 - 33: Aftermath
The Viper Academy’s stronghold had turned into ruins, with countless demons tearing at the corpses on the ground.
Amidst the chaos, wizards from the Abyss Cottage and the Demon Hunting Battle Group, along with wizard apprentices, were scattered around, looting their respective spoils.
In the distance.
With an invisibility spell cast, Maki’s face was grim, her hands tightly clenched:
"Damn it!"
"We’re too late."
"Even if we came earlier, it wouldn’t matter. Even a Second Ring Wizard could be killed if careless. There’s nothing we can do." Lynn shook his head:
"Stop looking, let’s go!"
"Yes."
Maki sighed helplessly, waved one hand to throw out a magic carpet, lifting them close to the ground as they flew forward.
She didn’t dare to fly too high.
Even with the invisibility cloak, there was no guarantee. If discovered, a fierce battle would be inevitable.
At this time, the academy’s main forces had retreated, leaving only enemies nearby.
The academy originally chose this location as it was the only way out, intended to block the demons’ path. Now, it left them with no choice but to sneak through under the demons’ noses.
Fortunately, the real powerful fighters were busy battling on the front lines, allowing the group to narrowly avoid danger and bypass the perilous area.
"The master of the Abyss Cottage is a Fourth Ring Wizard, the most powerful in the vicinity. Together with the Demon Hunting Battle Group, the academy might be in grave danger."
Maki’s voice was filled with worry:
"Let’s hope nothing happens to the academy."
"You’re overthinking." Lynn shook his head:
"The academy has dozens of Wizard Towers and even a base in the Star Realm. It won’t be that easy to breach."
Maki nodded, ready to say something, when she suddenly raised an eyebrow and looked towards the dense forest ahead.
"An Abyssal Demon."
Lynn took to the air, relaxing slightly after seeing the situation in the forest:
"It’s our people, I’ll go help."
His body flickered, transforming into a giant lion wreathed in flames, letting out a low roar as he charged into the forest.
In the forest, an Abyssal Demon was chasing a few wizard apprentices.
The tentacles full of eerie eyes danced frantically, and under the Fear Aura, it was difficult to stabilize and cast spells.
A First Tier Demon—Abyssal Squid!
Upon seeing the demon, Lynn couldn’t help but pause, as its true form was all too familiar.
"Heh—"
With a light chuckle, the flaming giant lion he had become descended from the sky, claws tightly gripping the squid.
At the same time, its mouth opened wide.
"Roar!"
Viscous lava spewed from his mouth, pouring towards the Abyssal Squid like a pillar of flame.
Having inherited Cesar’s bloodline, Lynn could also transform into a flaming giant lion, although its level wasn’t as high as an upgraded Fire Scale Flood Dragon, it could maintain its form for long periods and was formidable in strength.
The Abyssal Squid had an incredibly strong regenerative ability, but it struggled to resist under the continuous burning of the lava.
"Splat!"
Amid a sound reminiscent of a bursting bubble, the Abyssal Squid collapsed to the ground.
"You, there."
Maki also appeared at the scene, addressing the panicked wizard apprentices:
"Who is your tutor? What is the situation here?"
"Maki Wizard!"
"It’s you!"
"..."
They evidently recognized Maki, and realizing she was an ally, their expressions relaxed as they eagerly recounted the events of the past days, though the number of voices made it chaotic.
"Silence!"
Maki frowned, pointing to one of them:
"You, speak!"
"Yes." The person took a deep breath and stepped forward:
"The day before yesterday, the Demon Hunting Battle Group suddenly betrayed us and launched a sneak attack on our stronghold. Several wizards were killed, including Shadow Wizard Gloria."
"We fought and retreated, became separated from the majority, and encountered this Abyssal Demon here. If not for the help of you two seniors, we’d be dead by now!"
As he spoke, he looked gratefully at Lynn, who had returned to human form.
"Scattered?"
Maki frowned:
"Return to the academy first!"

By the time they returned to the academy, the academy’s floating Wizard Towers had already ascended, and various barriers enveloped the entire mountain.
The towns around the academy were also in a state of readiness as various Abyssal Demons began appearing nearby.
Worse still, apprentices who ventured outside were being assassinated by members of the Demon Hunting Battle Group.
"Isaiah."
"Here."
"Help me watch over the Wizard Tower, and don’t let anyone in for now. If anyone visits, say I’m busy."
"Understood."
After giving a few instructions, Lynn brought the corpses of the Hundred-faced Demon and the Skin Wizard to the second floor of the Wizard Tower and sat cross-legged.
"Hoo—"
A wisp of ghost fire appeared out of thin air, transforming into strands of threads that seeped into the Skin Wizard’s head.
"Soul Search!"
"Give it up to me!"
To restore Susan’s sanity, he needed to know the method to refine the Hundred-faced Demon, making a soul search inevitable.
This was something his main body excelled at.
Anyone killed by his main body, unless protected by a Divine, would have their memories drawn into a Divine Domain Fragment.
He could naturally extract the soul-capturing method from it.
In fact, in terms of scouring others’ memories, not even a Fifth Ring Wizard could match his main body.
Several days later.
The three-meter-tall Hundred-faced Demon lay prostrate on the ground, Lynn’s hand resting on its head, while the spell model in his Spiritual Inner Sea rapidly changed.
"Buzz—"
A halo flickered.
The faces on the Hundred-faced Demon twisted and writhed like living creatures, some even screaming in agony.
"Ah!"
"No, please!"
Not one of them had avoided horrendous torture before death, as only such methods could evoke deep-seated fear and madness.
The original features of the Hundred-faced Demon’s head also writhed and were gradually replaced by a woman’s face.
The ordinary features with a few freckles,
belonged to Susan!
"Mmm... mmm..."
Susan blinked her eyes, the chaos in them dissipating, giving way to a glimmer of clarity. She then clutched her face, suppressing her pain with a low moan.
"Lynn... Lynn..."
"It’s me."
Lynn exhaled a long, turbid breath, a tired smile emerging on his face:
"It seems like things aren’t too bad; your consciousness hasn’t completely collapsed and you still remember who I am."
"Do you remember what your name is?"
"Lynn." Susan raised her head, her eyes blank:
"Lynn..."
?
"Never mind." Lynn shook his head:
"As long as your consciousness hasn’t completely collapsed, there’s a chance to recover your memory. I’ll now teach you a method to stabilize your mind. You must remember it well and practice it daily to completely suppress the other consciousnesses in this body. Only then can you truly be yourself, otherwise, you’ll remain nothing but a puppet."
Susan still looked blank.
She had been forcibly awakened by Lynn, like a newborn, dazed about everything.
Fortunately, she knew she could trust the person in front of her.
"...Okay."
...
...
Several days later.
Susan finally began her practice, attempting to refine the power of the Hundred-faced Demon into her own strength.
On the other side.
"Wizard Lynn."
Isaiah brought good news:
"Because you and Maki Wizard killed the Skin Wizard, Jito from the Abyss Cottage, and the traitor Charles, your request was granted."
"Oh!" Lynn’s eyes lit up:
"Did the academy agree to give me a Second Tier Flame?"
"It seems not." Isaiah hesitated, then checked the message with a lowered head:
"It’s a First Tier Flame."
"First Tier?" Lynn frowned slightly, then nodded gently:
"That works too."
"I might not be able to refine a Second Tier Flame yet; acquiring a First Tier one will enhance my foundation. It’ll make obtaining a Second Tier Flame easier in the future."
"Yes." Isaiah agreed, then spoke softly:
"There’s one more thing..."
"The academy requires all wizards to participate in the battle, and you’re no exception."
