World Domination Begins With Getting a System in a Modern World-Chapter 25: Dinner Drama
Chapter 25: Dinner Drama
James was aware that the two moves he just made—funding extra cash into the memecoin project and using a massive amount as his betting capital—were risky moves.
There was no guarantee that putting more money into the memecoin project would allow it to succeed. He knew this but the trust and faith he has in Ralph, was what made him to make that decision.
As for the betting, as usual James had already made his calculations and he was sure that he isn't going to lose his money.
.....
The day passed uneventfully, with James focusing on flipping his money on the betting platform.
He has already gotten two times the amount he deposited, and his balance in his betting account was now at $200,000. But he has no plan to stop until he has four times the initial deposit amount.
He continued and slowly, the day was starting to get dark. The sun was already setting, indicating that it's almost time for Leslie and Patty to get back from work.
James looked at his betting balance and he saw that it was almost at the desired amount. All he just needs was $10,000 more to meet his target.
He didn't have to wait too long as his balance finally hit $400,000 and he quickly stopped the bet, and withdrew his balance. Though the balance did drop drastically at some point, just like previous day, he was able recover quickly.
His phone lit up the next moment with a credit alert notification from his bank. He didn't bother reading it as he stood up from the sofa, and went to his room to shower.
The long hours of intense concentration on his phone already had him sweating profusely, and he needs to wash it off. He doesn't want the sweat to dry up and give him body odour.
James was climbing the stairs when he heard the door open, and he turned to look at who it was.
"Hey, what are you doing on the stairs," Leslie asked, with a mischievous smile on her face.
"Good. You just added more to your rap sheet. I will make sure to kill you with my own hands," James said, with a sinister smile
"Brrrr.... I'm so scared." Leslie smiled, and make a mocking face at him.
"You will beg for my mercy very soon." James smiled and went to his room.
.....
A couple of minutes later, James was back downstairs. He saw that the dining table was already set, with Patty and Leslie ready to eat.
James took his seat with a smile and just as he was about to eat, he noticed something strange about the food.
He used his spoon to poke at the rice on his plate and he saw that it was still soggy. He immediately raised his head to look at Leslie and he saw her putting on a stoic face.
He turned to look at Patty and he saw her smiling, but her smile was strange from her usual smile.
He looked closely and he saw that she was trying to hold in her laugh, and he understood right away what was happening.
"No. No. No. Patty, why did you let her to do the cooking? Is this our last supper?" James asked, with a strange expression on his face.
"You! How dare you call my cooking — the food I made — last supper?!" Leslie asked, looking very offended.
"What do you mean how dare me? Isn't your food the type of food they serve to prisoner before their death sentence? That way, if by miracle the chair doesn't kill them, the food will," James said, with a stoic face, as he continued to poke at the content of his plate.
Leslie turned to look at her mother with tears — fake tears — in her eyes, and expression that say "help me out, mom."
Seeing her daughter asking for her help, Patty coughed to clear her throat and forced down the laugh she was holding in.
"Ahem... James, the food is not that bad. You have to understand that Leslie did her best. Yes, she isn't perfect in her cooking but with time and practice, she will," Patty said, with a smile.
The sourc𝗲 of this content is freēwēbηovel.c૦m.
James sighed when he heard when he heard what Patty said. He looked at his plate and the sight of its content caused him to shake his head.
"Not that bad? I really hope her cooking gets better before she kills us off. And this is the last time I'm going to be her human experiment," James said, and raised his head to look at Leslie.
He smiled and mouthed something to her.
"Told you I will kill you with my hand."
Leslie, of course saw this and she flipped a middle finger at him, before lowering her head.
"Ok, the two of you should stop and eat your food," Patty said, and started eating.
James and Leslie gave each other one last glare, before they started eating their food.
.....
A couple of minutes later, after they were done eating, James and Patty stood up, while Leslie cleared out the dirty dishes.
James was about to go to his room when he heard Patty's voice behind him.
"James, honey. About what you said last night, I understand that you want to help out but I want you to invest the money in something profitable.
My place of work won't be closing down anytime soon. From what I know, we still have half a year. And as for the house, the mortgage can wait. There's no need to pay it in a rush," Patty said.
James nodded when he heard this. He understood that she doesn't want him to use all of his money to pay off debt and be left with nothing afterwards, and he appreciates her intention.
Seeing James nod to what she said, Patty smiled and ruffled his hair.
"Thank you," she said, as she walked to her room.
....
James lay down on his bed, looking at the ceiling, deep in thought about the memecoin that's going to be launched tomorrow.
He couldn't help but think of different possibilities. Would it be successful? Would it be successful long enough to give him $100,000 for two months?
James has no idea but he was hoping that it would. According to his little knowledge of memecoin, they are projects that fall too quickly.
A memecoin can have a market capitalisation of $500M and in the blink of an eye, it would drop by 90%. And the reason for this was always because of the hype behind the memecoin fading too quickly.
The only ones that maintain their market cap for a long time are those that eventually got listed on major CEX. This is what James hopes to achieve with his memecoin project.
As for other possibilities of the memecoin, like it failing. James doesn't want to think about it.
"I guess I will just have to wait and see how tomorrow will unfold," he said, before closing his eyes, and slowly drifting off to sleep.
