World Keeper-Chapter 1237: Out in the Wild
As Lifre appeared within the void, Aznod was admittedly confused at what she was doing. He had heard from Udona about Lifre trying to become an Origin, and that she was fighting various monsters across numerous worlds. However, he couldn’t quite understand why she had come out into the void.
To his knowledge, there were no void beasts that were presenting any form of imminent danger to any world. Moreover, the expression on her face seemed too excited for her to be on an assignment.
As he was thinking about this, Lifre spotted him, quickly flying over to meet him in the large farm that had been established at the base of the tree. Due to the combined efforts of Aznod and many void golems, this space had transformed. It was even possible to speak verbally without the noise being lost to the void, almost as if it were a minor world.
“Hey, super chef!” Lifre called out to him, surprising Aznod. “Just the fox I was looking for!”
“What exactly were you looking for me for?” Aznod questioned, trying to understand the situation.
“Well, do you have any void beasts around here with rules related to stories or other fictional topics?” She asked, looking at the various beasts roaming the farm, as if domesticated cattle. Assuming that cattle were born in the twisted mind of someone who was either on too many drugs, or not enough.
“Hmm?” Aznod blinked, scanning the captured beasts. “I don’t believe so, why? Do you have a pressing need for a certain type of void beast?”
Lifre nodded her head rapidly, and began to explain the idea that she had presented to the Keeper. As Aznod listened, her began to understand more and more why she sought him out. “I see… my apologies, but I don’t think that you’ll find any void beasts to your liking in the nearby territory. Not currently, anyways.”
“Aww… why not?” She responded, her lips pouting. Aznod simply chuckled, shaking his head and producing a glowing, silver ball.
“This is the feed that we use for the beasts around here. Over the years, I’ve learned that offering certain feed will change the direction that the void beasts evolve. At present, all of the beasts here are almost entirely identical in terms of their internal rules. This is to make them more convenient for the void golems to use for their own meals.” He explained gently, but Lifre just stared at the silver ball.
When Aznod moved his hand, her eyes continued to follow it, studying it. “Soo… does that mean that you could make a feed to cause void beasts to evolve in the way I want?” She asked, a wide grin on her face.
Aznod blinked, considering the prospect. “It… is certainly possible. Essentially, all you need to do is solidify the energy of the void, focusing purely on the concept you want to use. The feed we use typically has concepts such as strength enhancement, wisdom, and things like that to facilitate the evolution of void golems.”
Lifre quickly nodded once again, focusing. The energy of the void rushed in from above, forming a similar silver sphere in her hand. Upon studying it, Aznod found that it contained only the singular concept of ‘story’. “I… suppose that will work. However, you’ll need to get an untamed void beast to feed that to. The ones that we have here are kept fairly saturated with information, and won’t evolve easily.”
“Got it, thanks!” She smiled brightly. “By the way, you should totally consider setting up a branch of your farm for Origins. Whenever a new Origin appears, make a small area for them and feed void beasts based on that Origin’s domain. Then, they could come and buy void beasts off of you if they see any that they like to gain their rules!”
Aznod couldn’t help but chuckle. “I’ll consider it.” He said, though at present, there were only three Origins remaining within this realm. And he doubted whether Chelsea or Blank would care for that kind of thing. Still, it was something to keep in mind for the future.
Meanwhile, Lifre darted off into the depths of the abyss. Her eyes gleamed, looking for every void beast that she could find. Most of those nearby had already been drawn over by the temptation of the world tree, but there were a few stragglers.
As soon as Lifre locked onto one, she rushed over to it, a manic grin on her face. Before the void monster had the ability to properly register what was flying at it, she shoved the silver pellet into its body, holding onto it with both hands.
…Now what? She thought to herself, not sure how long she needed to wait. Aznod hadn’t really gone over that. She turned her attention back to the squirming, panicking monster in her grasp, staring at it as if intending to drill through its body with her gaze. Evolve. Evolve. Hurry up and evolve! freёweɓnovel.com

“Beginning trial O-17.” One researcher spoke up, staring at the screen. In a nearby room, a kitsune male with red hair sat with his legs crossed, eyes closed.
They had already confirmed the experiment multiple times through the educational streams, and were now conducting a live trial. As long as no outside influences interfered with the trial, this should lead to the same successful result he had experienced multiple times recently.
“Activating Harmony Array.” One researcher called out, the machine whirring to life. “Stabilizing energy sequence. Preparing memetic implant.”
Energy crackled along the kitsune’s skin, but he kept a relaxed expression. All of this was just as he had experienced it in the streams, so he had plenty of time to prepare himself.
“Memetic implant is successful. Injecting world code.” Another researcher’s voice spoke up, and everyone waited nervously. This would be the moment of truth, the moment that would decide whether or not he would become an Origin, or if they were all going to perish in a fiery explosion.”
The kitsune felt a slight discomfort from the mana being forcibly infused into his body, but did his best to relax. It was almost over. Just a few more seconds…
Finally, the energy within his body seemed to snap, shifting all at once into a new form. His perception of the world changed, the machines in the room all shattering from a wave of force. However, this did not alarm the researchers. Rather, they seemed ecstatic.
“Trial O-17 is a success!” One researcher called out with a cheer. “Riley, how are you feeling?”
The kitsune, Riley Rodd, took a few moments to adjust to his new form, looking down at himself. “I feel… strange. But, not really bad. It’s like when you first ascend to godhood. It will just take a little while to adjust, I think.”
“That’s completely understandable.” The researcher in the lab said, sitting down with a heavy sigh. “As the newly ascended Origin of Metal, you will have our full support. If there is anything we can do to help you adjust to your new abilities, just let us know.”
Riley nodded his head. He knew that the world that he had been granted as an Origin was nothing special. It didn’t have extraordinary systems like the one Blank surely had. To put it simply, they just didn’t have the expertise required to make such a customized universe. Instead, he got a blank template, able to adjust it over time as needed.
Additionally, the researchers working on this project were not aware that Chelsea required the Origins that she promoted to have their own knowledge of world design. Riley, despite being an Origin himself, was entirely unsure how to modify his world to create the powers that he wanted. Although he was an Origin, it would be an empty title until he figured these things out.
Back within the farm of the void, Aznod’s ears perked up. He sensed a faint fluctuation in the void, and closed his eyes. A similar fluctuation had happened only recently, when Lifre was promoted to become an Origin. In fact, every time an Origin had been created, it caused a ripple in the void.
Aznod himself was not sensitive enough to the changes to identify what Origin had appeared, though he knew from the timing that it would surely not have been one from Chelsea’s lab. Setting down his hoe, he walked over to find a gaseous humanoid working the field. “Any ideas what just happened?” He called out to the void golem, as they were naturally far more sensitive to changes in the void.
“Hmm?” The void golem looked over, speaking in a low, reverberating voice. “If I’m not wrong, the concept of Metal just harmonized. There should be a new Origin of Metal somewhere.” He said, before getting back to his own work.
Aznod blinked, not knowing who would take such a domain. Maybe it is one of Tubrock’s followers? He thought to himself.
Thinking back to Lifre’s previous idea, he shrugged his shoulders. There was no harm in at least trying it out. It’s not like they had to worry about running out of void beasts. In the worst case scenario, they could simply make some themselves.
Within the offices of the Another World Research Group, Chelsea’s brow twitched in irritation. “They’ve caught up, huh?” She asked, sensing the change in the void as well. Reaching over, she tapped a button on her desk. “We’ve got a new Origin of Metal, this one from another lab.” She said, closing her eyes as she focused on identifying him through her main body in the Admin Room.
“Riley Rodd. Former God of Swords. Kitsune, age two hundred and sixteen. No criminal record, and no affiliation with any dangerous groups. Since a young age, he has joined various martial arts groups to further his own training, and left them after he had learned everything he could. Does not possess a strong sense of loyalty towards any individual or nation.”
“No training in world creation or memetic scripts. No significant training in void control. No extraordinary systems within his inner universe. For now, set the threat rating to C+, and monitor future activity.” She finished, before releasing the button.
She knew that it was somewhat cheating for her to simply use her main body to look up someone’s information. However, at the same time, an origin could be a huge threat. If the Origin in question had a criminal past, or the research group that created him did so for nefarious reasons, she would need to get involved before his power grew enough to threaten everyone.
Of course, that wasn’t to say that there was no threat at all. With such utter lack of training, it was entirely possible that he could do something idiotic and harm others while trying to understand his own powers. Hence, there was still a need to monitor him in the future.
This job would be left to the information-gathering organization that spanned every universe, run by none other than the ninja clans based on a nearby planet. With their help, it shouldn’t be too hard to keep an eye on a novice Origin.
