Chapter 63 - 63

End of Round 3.

After finishing his secret conversation with Kichan, Seowoon rejoined the wraith hunt a little late. His teammates, already engaged in battle, were aggressively attacking the wraiths.

—or at least, that's how it looked.

Dump stood shoulder to shoulder with the other knights, blocking the wraiths' attacks, while Sayde, Lael, and Kichan bombarded them with spells.

Then, one of the knights, visibly exhausted, began to slow down.

Clang! Thud!

"Gah!!"

Just then, the wraith's sword, which Seowoon had deflected, glanced off his shield and came down squarely on the tired knight's foot.

Yeoh Haoran had just checked that knight's health and was about to order him to fall back when Seowoon shouted, drawing attention as he engaged the wraith.

"Just hang in there!"

Throwing down his shield, Seowoon dragged the injured knight to the rear, then quickly snatched the shield back up and dashed toward the wraith again to split its focus.

No one found his actions suspicious.

They simply saw it as a natural response—an ally uniting forces against a powerful monster.

Clang!

Finally, Yeoh Haoran's sword shattered the golden armor on the wraith's shoulder.

"Its joint's exposed!"

A spell flew straight into the now-bared shoulder joint.

Even while casting, Kichan recalled Seowoon's warning:

"Be careful when the wraith gets wounded. Its patterns might change."

It was the kind of intuition only someone like Seowoon, who had fought in countless raids across various games, would have.

As cracks formed in its shoulder and its staff-wielding left arm became immobile, the wraith let out a furious roar.

ROOAAARR!

At that moment, Seowoon's eyes flashed.

"Hurry and finish it. I've set the whole table for you."

Then the wraith vanished from right in front of him.

Seowoon whipped around—just in time to see the wraith split the recovering knight's head open with its sword.

Row ten forward.

Yeoh Haoran started to feel something was off around the time the wraith's armor was reduced to rags and cracks covered its skeletal body.

Her team had lost two members. The other teams had lost four more. And yet, not a single person from Seowoon's team had fallen.

That disparity gnawed at her.

Seowoon, watching carefully from behind his shield, didn't miss the moment she hesitated, visibly running calculations in her head.

He wasn't attacking—only blocking and observing.

Saving his strength while reading the field.

"There's someone targeting us from behind! Stay alert!"

Seowoon's sharp warning snapped Yeoh Haoran out of her thoughts.

"Push them back and get to the wall!"

Seowoon and Dump slammed into the wraith with their shields, forcing it back toward the wall opposite the entrance. The players quickly adjusted formation, aligning with them. freēwēbηovel.c૦m

Seowoon's team had six members. Yeoh Haoran and the remnants of the other team had only two each. Naturally, they followed Seowoon's lead.

Clang!

Spotting a gap in the wraith's wild attacks, Yeoh Haoran stabbed her sword in and pulled back, urgently asking:

"Are you sure about this?"

"I've got an item that senses hostility. I definitely felt a hostile gaze."

Seowoon wasn't lying.

If anything, he was just late to say it.

Hammit had sensed the presence of another player almost thirty minutes earlier.

BOOM!

"Argh!!"

Other than Dump, the last remaining knight got flung into a wall by the wraith's blade.

Their focus had broken due to the appearance of this new threat.

And the wraith before them was still dangerous—despite its injuries.

It was only natural. As the wraith grew weaker, so did the number of players. A fair trade, in a way.

Everything was going just as Seowoon had envisioned.

He hurled his shield to the ground.

"We need to end this now!"

With that, he charged at the wraith. Yeoh Haoran followed—but she couldn't shake a creeping unease.

Whoosh! Crack!

She ducked under a falling blade, grazed its knee, and made it stagger.

Bloodbone construct! With power like that, why was it...

"What are you doing?! Focus!"

Seowoon shouted as he saw sparks flickering around the wraith's dangling staff.

He knew full well Yeoh Haoran wouldn't fall to such a basic lightning spell.

But the shifting expressions on her face wouldn't let him ignore her any longer.

Slash!

Her sword came down in a leaping arc, finally severing the wraith's arm.

The staff, now devoid of the golden lightning that once flowed through it, clattered to the ground along with the arm.

And just as Yeoh Haoran landed, Seowoon's hand flew straight toward her face.

The moment he saw the faint sword energy vanish from her blade—the one that had just cut the wraith—he didn't hesitate.

"You bastard!!"

He shouted and swung his sword.

There was no hesitation in his strike as his blade pierced the opening in Bloodboneclan's technique.

Even faced with an attack that would force mutual destruction unless he withdrew, Seowoon reached out toward him without a second thought.

— Slick.

It didn't feel like stabbing a person.

It felt like thrusting into empty air—yet a sharp pain burrowed into Yeohaoran's side as his expression twisted in realization.

— Crunch!

Bloodbone clan, who had shattered a rib in an instant, tore through flesh, and just as he raised his sword high, a blade brimming with the wrath of the wraith came crashing down upon his head.

— Boom!

— Crack!

— Bzzzzzt!

"You coward..."

— Slice.

The moment Seowoon struck Yeohaoran, his teammates unleashed their attacks on the remaining players.

It was a close-range ambush—there was no way the enemy could have defended in time.

Limine passed by after beheading the last surviving mage in a single blow, shaking the blood off his blade as it dripped to the ground.

"Haah... Haah... From the start..."

— Whoosh!

Yeohaoran, who barely managed to block the wraith's slash and retreat, couldn't finish his sentence.

A feathered arrow, shot from somewhere, pierced straight through his temple.

— Ting!

Seowoon casually deflected the arrow aimed at him with the back of his hand and shouted,

"Now's the time!"

With that command, the five teammates charged at the wraith.

Seowoon also retreated toward the wraith, deflecting more incoming arrows.

Arrows flew blatantly toward the yellow gem embedded in the wraith's crown, but Seowoon and his team blocked every single one—and in an instant, they and the wraith disappeared from the chamber.

Only a few stray arrows sliced through the empty space they left behind.

He'd made Kichan loot inconspicuously, and amid the chaos, it had been pure luck that Kichan got one of the gold scrolls—an area teleport scroll.

The real plan they had discussed via team voice chat was simple: if things went sideways, they'd escape with the dying wraith and claim the kill for themselves.

But everything had gone off the rails when a third party appeared.

The worst-case scenario is them teaming up with the ones we worked so hard to thin out. We end this here—whatever it takes.

And Seowoon had executed that plan flawlessly.

— Shatter!

Despite the sudden teleport, Seowoon's sword struck true, smashing the gem embedded in the wraith's crown.

— Sssss... Is this where my glory ends?

With those last words, the radiant golden remains of the wraith collapsed to the floor and slowly faded into transparency, disappearing completely.

[Ding! Epic Monster Kutrapha's Wraith has been slain. Glory to the duo Jin Seowoon and Kang Kichan!]

Though Seowoon and Kichan claimed the glory of the kill, none of the other teammates voiced any complaints.

"Hurry up and loot!"

At Seowoon's command, the team quickly began listing and sorting the items dropped from the enemy.

Jurolkana → Yeohaoran (killed with an arrow)

"So, that bastard killed the two campers."

They had suspected that Jurok'ana might be the one lurking, waiting for a chance after eliminating two of the three ambush players.

They figured if it was him, there was no way he'd be caught off guard.

"Good thing we were prepared. Let's go."

As Seowoon moved forward without hesitation, Dump and Seyde stepped in to stop him.

"Our enemy's a master archer. Even with superior numbers, we're at a disadvantage in guerrilla combat. We need a way to draw him out first—"

Dump trailed off mid-sentence when he saw a familiar smile on Seowoon's face.

"You have something, don't you? A way to find him in this massive dungeon?"

"Mark of Grudge."

He raised his hand as he spoke, and from his palm—or rather, from Hamit—a thin beam of light extended outward toward a single direction.

Everyone's expression turned to disbelief as they watched the red laser-like beam stretch across the space.

"Never heard of a skill like that."

"That's not even a technique from our world."

To Dump and Limine's remarks, Seowoon just shrugged.

It was a skill he'd acquired while blocking the wraith's attack with his shield and spinning the skill wheel.

Back then, he had been annoyed that it didn't produce a powerful blow that would finish off Yeohaoran—but now, it was proving crucial in this exact moment.

"Let's go. A gang fight needs a gang. Time to pay them back."

As they returned to the cavern where the fierce battle with the wraiths had taken place, a beam of light shot toward a corner.

Everyone except Dump focused their attacks where the light pointed.

Blasts of martial energy, weapon skills, and magic flew toward that spot—then, out of what appeared to be empty space, a man in a tattered black cloak emerged, coughing up blood.

"Khak! How did you know? Was it Carmen's Eye?"

It was the power of the Mark of Vengeance—a skill that marks the enemy who harmed you. Wherever they are, the beam of light would guide the marked one toward them.

But the one who was marked couldn't see that light themselves.

"Wouldn't you like to know? But I don't owe you an explanation, do I?"

"I see. I should've moved faster... I hesitated too long."

As he spoke, he drew his sword—and the group pounced.

A six-on-one fight.

Despite being known as a divine archer, Jurolkana's swordsmanship was anything but weak. He had stowed his bow and drawn his sword, fighting ferociously.

Sword energy swept out in all directions, and whenever there was even a brief opening, he would switch seamlessly between bow and blade, firing piercing arrows mid-flow.

He must've thought hiding in the cavern—right under their noses—was clever. But it backfired.

Jurolkana glanced toward the cavern entrance, clearly looking for a chance to escape.

Crack!

Reading his intent, Seowoon's Blood-Bone Clan grazed Jurolkana's arm.

Shff-shff-shfft!

Falling back, he fired arrow after arrow. His marksmanship was no exaggeration—he truly deserved the title of divine archer.

One of his arrows shot right in front of Dump's face, striking a glowing orb of light above and shattering it.

"Everyone, be careful!"

As the area dimmed, Jurolkana's presence faded with the retreating light.

Seowoon, too, vanished into the darkness, pulling his Cloak of Concealment over himself.

The moment the cavern entrance was sealed, arrows rained in from all directions.

Even the slightest sound drew a volley of arrows.

The air whistled as razor-sharp arrows zipped through it. The party, now out of the fight, reinforced their barrier defenses.

Only after they were sure of their protection did they begin firing light orbs into the air.

Fwoosh.

There, less than ten meters apart, two cloaked figures stood—each aiming a bow at the other.

"This time, the tables have turned."

Seowoon's taunt made Jurolkana smile bitterly.

"Those who forget honor face the judgment of Tolkan, or so they say."

No sooner had he spoken than both men loosed their arrows.

Ting!

The arrows collided mid-air and deflected violently aside. In that same instant, Jurolkana drew his sword and charged. Seowoon dashed forward, arms crossed, fingers curled into claws.

Clang! Clang!

Blocking his blade with bare hands, Seowoon pressed the attack. As he drove forward, a pulse of mana surged behind Jurolkana—magic exploded into the space.

Even through that, Jurolkana pushed Seowoon back and readied another shot. Blood streamed from his back and head, but his movement was flawless.

Drawing another arrow, he aimed.

"Not today!"

Sensing Jurolkana's resolve—to take at least one of them with him—Seowoon lunged.

Just before firing, Jurolkana twisted his body and loosed the taut bowstring straight at the charging Seowoon.

Seowoon raised his fist to block, but the arrow curved mid-flight and struck his chest.

Wincing, Seowoon twisted his body and closed the distance.

With a swift motion, he yanked the arrow out of his own arm—and drove it into Jurolkana's forehead.

Jurolkana had just begun to draw his blade. Eyes wide, he stared at Seowoon, the dying light fading from his gaze.

"...Hoo."

Seowoon, breathing heavily, stood still for a moment—soaking in the brief stillness after his vengeance.

But with revenge fulfilled, an awkward silence followed.

"If we'd met as allies from the start, that really would've been something," Limin said, wiping the blood from his sword.

Seowoon nodded in agreement.

"Let's finish the loot sweep, even if we're going to fight."

They searched the crates scattered around the cavern, took what was useful, and finished cataloging the items. Then, the two teams stood apart, facing each other.

"It's been a pleasure fighting alongside you," said one.

"Next time... let's hope we're allies," said another.

"Agreed. I wouldn't want a player like you as an enemy," added a third.

Seowoon nodded silently at Limin, Dump, and Sade's words.

"Well then... let's end this game."

At Seowoon's words, the two teams charged at each other.

The first to fall was Lyle. Then Sade, who died by Seowoon's hand. Kichan was taken down by Dump and Limin. But in the end, they too couldn't survive against Seowoon.

As he stared down at his blood-soaked hands and collapsed to the ground, a notification chimed—and Kichan, who had died earlier, came running toward him.

"Hyung!!!"

Hearing his voice, full of emotion, Seowoon stood up to greet him.

Now, it was time to enjoy the rewards.
