Wrong Love, Final Goodbye: She'll Never Look Back-Chapter 305: Here to Pick Up the Princess from Work
’Boom——’
A thunderclap, the rush of autumn rain.
Outside the gates of Phoenix Court, Janne Hayes stood waiting with an umbrella.
Amidst the curtain of rain, a black sedan slowly drove up and stopped.
The assistant got out, opened an umbrella first, and then opened the backseat door, shielding Jasper Monroe from the rain as he exited.
Janne Hayes stepped forward respectfully: "Mr. Monroe, President Pierce is waiting for you in the study."
Jasper Monroe gave him a slight nod and followed Janne Hayes down the path to the study.
Janne Hayes and Jasper Monroe’s assistant both stayed outside the study door, politely nodding at each other, content to play the role of doormen.
Inside, Jasper Monroe ignored Declan Pierce, who was playing on his phone in a chair, opened the laptop he brought, and quickly linked to the data for the Nascent Project.
"This part, the experimental data doesn’t match the predictions, and it can’t be debugged. You handle it." Jasper Monroe turned the screen towards Declan Pierce, sat down comfortably in a chair, and said leisurely, "Weren’t you the world’s top physicist in your past life? This little issue should be a piece of cake for you, right?"
Declan Pierce scoffed, "What past life? You make it sound like I died and was reincarnated."
"Breaking yourself down into particles and reassembling must be more painful than death by a thousand cuts, right?" Jasper Monroe remarked, "From that perspective, you suffered much more than dying once."
Outside the window, lightning tore through the rain curtain.
Declan Pierce squinted slightly at the dazzling white light.
Lucky for him, he wasn’t struck by lightning that day...
After solving the issue Jasper Monroe brought, Declan Pierce casually reviewed their project’s progress, a smile touching his lips.
Whether or not one can see further standing on the shoulders of giants, he didn’t know, but with Jasper Monroe standing on his shoulders, immense wealth and power were within easy reach.
Jasper Monroe adhered to a strict schedule, glanced at his watch, and stood up, a rare pang of conscience before leaving.
"Need me to do anything extra for you?" he asked Declan Pierce across the room.
Declan Pierce: "Just do what you’re supposed to, and I’ll handle the rest."
"Alright."
The rain outside had stopped.
As Jasper Monroe walked through the corridor, he unconsciously glanced out the window at the vast expanse of yellow roses, already protected under a rain shelter in advance.
That day, Tanya Sinclair spent all her time in the pharmacy, brewing medicine.
By evening, the medicine was ready. She bagged it up, dividing it into two portions.
Just as she finished packing, two quick honks sounded from outside.
Tanya Sinclair walked out with the two bags of medicine, only to see the rear car door open, and Zeke Pierce sitting in the seat, leisurely looking at her with a refined smile.
"Ms. Sinclair, I’ve come to pick up the medicine."
Tanya Sinclair glanced at him and handed the medicine to Seth Yates, who had stepped out of the car.
"This is a week’s supply. I’ve noted how to take it on the card inside. I’ll check Mr. Pierce’s pulse again in a week."
Seth Yates, like his boss, offered a smile that didn’t quite reach the eyes.
"Thank you for your hard work, Ms. Sinclair."
Tanya Sinclair had no intention of lingering, and as she was about to leave, Zeke Pierce called out to her: "Ms. Sinclair, thank you for preparing the medicine for me. How about I give you a ride?"
"No need." Tanya Sinclair didn’t even turn her head.
Zeke Pierce watched her departing figure, glanced at the medicine Seth Yates was holding, and chuckled: "Let’s go."
Over the next two days, Tanya Sinclair resumed work at The Veridia Base.
The progress of Group A’s project was swift, and with Celine Nash overseeing, Tanya Sinclair was temporarily assigned to another group. Though it wasn’t in the same building as Group A, everyone ate in the same cafeteria.
With so much to familiarize herself with, Tanya Sinclair was kept exceedingly busy.
Life seemed to return to its usual rhythm.
The only difference was that both Celine Nash and Harrison Langdon noticed something unusual about Tanya Sinclair.
The usually phone-averse junior sister began sneaking peeks at her phone during lunch or after work, breaking into a smile bright enough to blind single people.
The two exchanged a glance and headed over to Tanya Sinclair, each setting a tray in front of her.
Tanya Sinclair looked up, slightly puzzled: "Senior brother, senior sister, what’s up?"
Harrison Langdon stroked his chin, meaningfully: "Junior sister, something’s up!"
Celine Nash: "Spit it out, be honest! Are you in love?"
Tanya Sinclair’s eyes twinkled, and leaning forward, she beckoned them with a finger.
Harrison Langdon and Celine Nash, driven by their curiosity, leaned in closer.
Tanya Sinclair whispered mysteriously, "It’s a secret."
Having said that, she picked up her phone, stood with her empty tray, and cheerfully bid farewell to her senior brother and sister.
"I’m off work, see you later."
Tanya Sinclair placed her tray in the designated area and left.
The Veridia Base had several exits. Tanya Sinclair exited through the west gate, where a beautiful sycamore-lined path awaited. The golden leaves gently swayed in the breeze.
A black Maybach was parked by the roadside, and Declan Pierce’s tall silhouette leaned against the car, waiting patiently.
The setting sun cast a warm glow on him, making Tanya Sinclair squint slightly.
This man... as beautiful as a painting.
Naturally, Declan Pierce saw her too. He took a few steps toward Tanya Sinclair before pausing.
He saw his princess jogging toward him.
Declan Pierce chuckled softly, opened his coat for a friendly embrace, catching Tanya Sinclair as she ran into his arms.
"I’m here to pick you up from work, princess."
Her slightly chilled hands found warmth behind his back, as she looked up with a radiant smile.
"Driving all this way to get me, that’s quite something. But when I got your message, I was already eating in the cafeteria." She mouthed her words, her freshly touched-up lips glistening invitingly.
Declan Pierce waited for her to finish, then leaned down to give her a kiss.
"Then let’s skip dinner and do something else."
