Chapter 150 - Reality wrap

Aron held Jubilee in his arms, cradling her gently. Her body was limp, unconscious, but alive. Her breathing was steady.

He looked up just in time to see Natasha step forward.

Her gun was already out.

BLAM. BLAM. BLAM.

Three bullets in perfect succession, aimed directly at his head.

Aron didn't flinch.

The bullets stopped an inch from his face, hovering in midair. With a flick of his fingers, they disintegrated into glowing blue dust. He smiled.

"Angry?" he asked.

Natasha's jaw clenched. Her expression was a mixture of fury, grief, and something much deeper. Her voice trembled, not with fear, but with raw emotion.

"You faked your death."

Aron tilted his head.

"You erased your trace."

Natasha took a shaky step forward, gun still in hand. "No note. No goodbye. Not even a whisper. You could have at least dropped by and said you are alright. I knew you were ok. But still..."

Her voice cracked.

"And then you show up... and say Yo?"

Aron blinked.

"...Yeah," he muttered, scratching the back of his neck awkwardly. "That... probably sounded better in my head."

Silence stretched between them.

Nearby, Tony and Logan were watching, keeping their distance. No one dared interrupt.

Natasha slowly lowered her gun.

Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears, but she blinked them away. She took a breath, steadying herself.

"You idiot."

"You know, after freeing Genosha and taking down Apocalypse. I had to rebuild the place, make sure everything is taken care of, and I thought, what could be a better way to disappear from the world? You know, with all the cults and people calling me a God and Devil... I just wanted to live a quiet life without any interference, and you are with Shield. I know what Fury told you back then... But I also felt your feelings. I was planning on surprising you, but... Well, then I had to go away from Earth to take care of Thanos. And now here's another mess..." Aron explained as he looked around the destruction.

He stepped forward.

"Hold her for a moment. I'll take care of this mess, and then we can talk."

Natasha nodded and stepped forward. She gently took Jubilee from Aron's arms.

Aron turned away and looked over the ruined battlefield.

Fires burned in the distance. Buildings were reduced to ash and rubble. The sky still had a reddish hue from the fading touch of Chthon's presence. The streets were littered with fallen bodies. Some were soldiers. Some were civilians. Some were dogs and cats, and some birds, trees...

Too many.

Aron closed his eyes.

He didn't need to reach for the Phoenix this time.

He raised his hand.

A soft red glow formed in his palm, then grew brighter. It pulsed once, then twice, as if syncing with the heartbeat of the world.

Then he closed his hand into a fist.

The energy burst outward.

It was quiet. There was no sound, no explosion. Just a wave of calm that rippled across the Earth. The light passed over the ruins, through the smoke, over the bodies, and into the sky.

And slowly, the world began to change.

The fires went out. Embers faded into sparks, then vanished into nothing. Ash lifted from the ground and swirled into the air before reshaping into bricks, walls, and glass.

Buildings rebuilt themselves. Broken streets closed. Craters filled. Trees regrew from blackened stumps, leaves returning in a slow, glowing dance of light.

The clouds parted.

The blood-red sky turned blue again.

The wind shifted. It no longer carried the stench of death and burning metal. Now it was fresh. Clean. ƒree𝑤ebnσvel.com

But the most amazing change was the people.

The fallen began to move.

One by one, those who had died blinked their eyes open. Confused. Scared. But alive. They sat up, touched their chests, their faces, looked around, and cried out names.

And those names were answered.

Civilians ran to each other, hugging tightly, tears falling freely. Soldiers stood, helping each other to their feet, looking to the skies in shock.

Even the animals came back.

Dogs barked. Birds flew. Nature breathed again.

The cracks in the fabric of reality where Chthon's energy had leaked through were gone. The rifts sealed shut. Not just closed but erased. As if they had never been there.

Chthon's influence was removed. His presence wiped clean from the Earth.

It was like he had never touched the planet at all.

Aron opened his eyes.

He turned around and saw Natasha holding Jubilee, her mouth open in shock. She looked at the city, then back at him. Jubilee stirred a bit mumbling something about Goldy stealing her pancakes.

A bit far away from him, the others were slowly gathering, still processing what had just happened.

Tony hovered down from above in his heavily scratched suit, the arc reactor pulsing with reduced energy. His mask slid up with a soft hiss as he touched down beside Logan and Illyana.

"Okay. Not that I'm complaining, but I need to ask this out loud," Tony said, rubbing his temples. "Did we all just witness a man reset reality like it was a frickin' Wi-Fi router?"

Illyana sheathed her Soulsword, watching Aron with an unreadable expression.

Logan grunted. "It's nothing compared to what we have seen."

Tony glanced over at both of them, lowering his voice slightly. "I gotta admit... you two did a damn good job covering his tracks. I looked. I really looked. Even tapped JARVIS into deep spectrum scans, temporal anomalies, psychic echoes, all of it."

Illyana gave a rare smile. "You couldn't find him because we didn't want him to be found."

Logan nodded, folding his arms. "After everything he's done for us? The kid earned some peace. We owed him that much."

Tony exhaled and shook his head. "Still. You hid someone who just rewrote the laws of thermodynamics, death, and time. I think that deserves a beer or two."

"Make it a case," Logan said.

Off to the side, Clint Barton leaned against a partially rebuilt wall, wiping blood off his cheek with a rag. He looked around at the completely restored town. Kids laughing. Civilians crying in relief. Not a single trace of the massacre that had happened just minutes ago.

"Yeah," Clint muttered, watching a small dog leap into a child's arms. "I definitely need a vacation. Somewhere quiet. No aliens. No gods. No ancient death cults. Just me, a chair, and absolutely nothing trying to kill me."

"You forgot about the drinks," Logan added.

"Right. And booze. Lots of it."

Bruce Banner stood near a cracked fountain that had already begun flowing again with crystal-clear water. He looked down at his reflection, human again, his body whole, clean, unbruised. Not even a trace of Hulk's usual rage lingered in his eyes.

He turned slowly to Tony, voice quiet and reverent.

"That power... to alter reality like that... Ever since I saw Kamar-Taj's magic and Aron's power to bring back the dead to life, I've spent all my time trying to understand the structure of the universe. Energy, matter, decay, regeneration. But this..." He looked back at Aron. "This wasn't science. It wasn't magic, either. It was something else."

Tony crossed his arms. "Yeah. It was Aron being Aron."

Illyana turned to them both. "He's still human, you know."

"Yeah," Bruce nodded. "But I've never seen anyone bear that kind of burden and still stay that way."

Natasha walked over, now with Jubilee stirring slowly in her arms. Jubilee blinked groggily, mumbling something about pancakes.

Natasha looked up at the others.

"He's not just carrying that power. He's carrying the cost, too."

They all turned their eyes toward Aron.

He stood alone for a moment, watching the people he had saved.

Then he took a breath and finally walked back to them.

Logan was the first to greet him, clapping a firm hand on his shoulder.

"Not bad, kid."

Aron smirked. "Coming from you, that's high praise."

Tony approached next, raising an eyebrow. "So... gonna tell us what that was? Or do we just chalk it up to divine intervention with good hair?"

Aron rolled his eyes. "Call it... cleanup."

Clint raised a hand from the back. "Yeah, I second that. Cleanup with a side of divine reset. You just brought an entire city back from the grave, dude. That's not even in my top five weirdest days, but it's definitely climbing."

Tony tapped his comms as he received the latest news from Shield. "Well, not only the city. He erased all the space cracks and reset all the damage."

Bruce walked toward Aron with a serious expression. "You said you just wanted peace. But peace like that? It's gonna draw more attention than you think."

Aron nodded slowly. "I know. But I can't just sit and look while things go wrong, can I now? And it would seem an ancient god has awakened and is planning on taking over Earth, unless we stop him."
