Chapter 120: Chapter 115 Lai Lao’s Gratitude and Rage

Ye Tian continuously circulated his power, helping Lai Dongming break through the blocked blood vessels. As one after another was cleared, Lai Dongming’s complexion gradually reddened. Eventually, his fingers began to twitch slightly, clearly about to wake up.

"Hehe, Vice President Wang, it looks like you’re going to lose this time," said a reporter from the City Evening News.

"Yeah, Vice President Wang, you better prepare yourself. You can’t go back on your word about resigning to take responsibility," said a reporter from the Metropolitan Radio, who really wasn’t afraid of stirring up trouble, saying whatever came to mind.

"How could Vice President Wang go back on his word? Whoever does is a son of a bitch, and this is no joke," said a reporter from the TV station, clearly taking pleasure in the misfortune.

"This youngster is truly a miracle doctor! I must secure an exclusive interview with him later—no one better fight me for it," said a reporter from the Red Fox website.

The cacophony of the reporters’ comments greatly annoyed Vice President Wang; these damned people, who had just been buddy-buddy with him, were now siding with Ye Tian upon seeing his downfall. What bastards!

"Lai Dongming’s fingers are moving! Look, everyone!" someone exclaimed in surprise.

"Damn it!" Vice President Wang frowned instantly.

Seeing that Lai Dongming was about to wake up, Vice President Wang grew more and more worried. Losing the bet meant having to apologize, which wasn’t a big deal. What he couldn’t bear to lose was his position as vice president. Without the aura of the vice presidency, how could he enjoy a carefree life in the future?

Thirty hard years of work, all returning to square one overnight.

This was not the result he wanted.

"Damn it all, I absolutely cannot let Lai Dongming wake up!"

Vice President Wang made up his mind—he had to stop Ye Tian’s rescue attempt. If Ye Tian were allowed to continue, his career and life would be ruined.

Without further hesitation, Vice President Wang walked over and reached to pull out the Dragon-whisker Needles from Lai Dongming’s body.

He had realized that the key to Ye Tian’s rescuing effort lay in these silver needles. If he could remove or destroy the needles, Ye Tian would be unable to save the man, Lai Dongming wouldn’t awaken, and he wouldn’t have to resign.

"Wang Tianshui, what are you doing!" Assistant Wei shouted out immediately.

She couldn’t believe that Wang Tianshui could be so despicable as to sabotage a rescue. Lai Dongming was such a significant figure; his life was not to be threatened!

"Mike, Eric, subdue him!" Assistant Wei ordered right then.

"Ok!" Both foreign bodyguards responded at once. Lai Dongming was their employer, and they were responsible for eliminating any threat to their employer’s safety.

Without a moment’s hesitation, Mike landed a heavy punch, and Vice President Wang was blasted away on the spot.

Eric twisted his arm and followed with a combo to his face, causing Vice President Wang’s nose and mouth to bleed. They might not be able to defeat Ye Tian, but dealing with Vice President Wang was more than manageable.

Vice President Wang, disoriented from the beating, was then tied up by them.

The reporters were also stunned, thinking to themselves how the vice president had been all smiles just moments ago; what had gone wrong now? Why was he pulling out the silver needles out of the blue? It seemed he was afraid of losing the bet and didn’t want the youngster to heal Lai Dongming. Such a person was truly shameless, to say the least. It was bordering on disregarding human life, and he was supposed to be a doctor.

One of the silver needles was pulled out, but the impact was minor. Because the later part of the treatment mainly relied on Ye Tian’s inner strength, rather than the needles themselves.

Ye Tian picked up the needle that was pulled out and snorted coldly, then simply threw it to the ground. He then made a few pressing gestures on Lai Dongming’s body with his sword fingers, and Lai Dongming immediately opened his eyes.

"Where am I?" Lai Dongming asked, still groggy.

"Lai Dongming, you’re finally awake! That’s great!" Assistant Wei exclaimed joyfully.

Seeing Lai Dongming open his eyes and speaking left everyone wide-eyed, admiring Ye Tian’s medical skills and at the same time amazed at the profoundness of Chinese medicine.

The reporters immediately manned their cameras, some surrounding Lai Dongming for an interview, others bombarding Ye Tian with questions left and right, the scene buzzing with excitement.

Lai Dongming had awakened, and the leader of the business empire had come to. Assistant Wei finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Ye Tian spotted the sleazy figure slipping out the door, pushed past the reporters before him, and with a flying leap, appeared in front of Ma Xu.

"Now, where might you be rushing off to, young master Ma?" Ye Tian said with a cold laugh.

"I, I, well, I need to use the restroom, ah yes, the restroom," Ma Xu stuttered, fearfully aware of why Ye Tian was looking for him.

"The restroom? Hehe, did you piss yourself in fear?" Ye Tian mocked.

Facing Ye Tian’s piercing gaze, all Ma Xu could do was grin foolishly, not knowing how to respond, filled with dread knowing his good days were over.

Ye Tian wasted no more words, grabbing Ma Xu’s shoulder and squeezing slightly, causing him to howl in pain.

"Remember the bet we made, the promise of an apology?" Ye Tian demanded, confronting him on the spot.

Frightened by Ye Tian, Ma Xu dared not pull any stunts, nodding and bowing obsequiously, then he approached the nurse and said, "It’s my fault. I’m not a human; I’m an animal."

"These lines sound like they’re straight out of a cliché TV drama, not sincere enough," Ye Tian sneered as he stared at Ma Xu and continued, "Where’s the promised kowtowing and self-slapping?"

Taken aback, Ma Xu inwardly cursed Ye Tian for being so ruthless, not giving him any face to save. As he hesitated, he saw Ye Tian approach, readying his fists as if about to strike him. My God, he meant business!

"I’ll kneel, I’ll kneel, okay?" Ma Xu dropped to his knees with a thud, obediently slapping himself. The sound wasn’t particularly loud, but he looked sufficiently pathetic.

He was genuinely afraid of Ye Tian now.

Ye Tian nodded with a smile, "That’s more like it."

Nurse Wang Ying felt extremely embarrassed. Although Ma Xu was annoying and had even harassed her, seeing him kneel before her made her feel guilty. After all, everyone’s made of flesh and blood; such punishment was too harsh.

"Get up now," said Nurse Wang Ying, uncomfortably.

Ma Xu, feeling a reprieve, hurried to his feet, only to be kicked back down with a jab of pain in his leg. He heard the icy voice of the death god saying, "Now, in front of everyone, tell us what you’ve done to the nurse. Speak well, and you may stand; speak poorly, and, well, you’ll remain kneeling."

"I’m shameless, not a human being. I deliberately made the nurse inject the wrong spot, I’ve harassed nurses in the hospital, and several times I wanted to sneak pictures of her in the restroom, unfortunately without success..." On his knees, Ma Xu spilled all his sordid deeds. He couldn’t not speak; Ye Tian would never let him off otherwise.

The nurse was shocked; this man had actually tried to photograph her using the restroom. Such a person was despicable, utterly shameless!!

The reporters’ eyes gleamed, hurriedly instructing the cameraman to roll, capturing every moment of Ma Xu’s disgrace.

Elsewhere, Assistant Wei helped the now awoken Lai Dongming don a coat, sporting a white shirt underneath and a Zhongshan suit on top, looking spry and lively, far from the image of a sickly old man – every inch the corporate leader.

The first thing Lai Dongming did upon awakening was to look for his savior.

Slowly getting out of bed, leaning on a white jade cane, and with the assistance of Assistant Wei and others, he took step by step out of the ward and approached Ye Tian.

"So, it’s you!" Lai Dongming immediately recognized Ye Tian.

Wasn’t this the young man that the president of Yun Corporation had brought over? Lai Dongming vividly recalled the young man’s extraordinary skill at fishing without a hook, almost magical.

Little did he expect, the one who had saved his life, the gracious savior, would be him.

Ye Tian was enjoying watching Ma Xu repent. Ma Xu’s misdeeds were indeed numerous: stealing girls’ underwear, installing cameras in changing rooms – none of this was new.

At that moment, Ye Tian saw Lai Dongming.

Ye Tian scratched his head, "Oh, you walked over here with a cane? Hey, it seems my medical skills have regressed. If this were three years ago, I’d have you running."

Those words were no boast. If not for the interference of Vice-President Wang and the reporters, not only would running have been possible, but even participating in a seniors’ sports event would’ve been a breeze.

Lai Dongming had started from scratch to create a business empire, relying on his principle of integrity.

Without elaborate thanks or a massive check, the old man passed his cane to Assistant Wei and slowly bent down. Right in front of all the reporters and medical staff, he knelt before Ye Tian.

"Young man, great kindness needs no words of thanks. Please, accept an old man’s bow," Lai Dongming said sincerely.

Seeing the elderly man, well past his seventies with white hair, kneeling there on the cold tile floor, at his feet, Ye Tian did not stop him, nor did he offer flattering words.

This bow, Ye Tian could accept.

A life-saving grace deserved a kneeling thank you; it was only right.

Ye Tian nodded and reached out to help the old man stand, "If you want to recover, you need to lessen your workload and exercise more. Don’t worry about your heart condition. If I have time in a few days, I’ll give you a few more injections with the Dragon-whisker Needle, and you should be cured."

"Good," Lai Dongming replied tersely, his gratitude implicit.

Ye Tian nodded again, saying, "Your illness isn’t a big deal, don’t be burdened by it. When you have time, let’s go fishing together. Follow me."

With that, he walked into the ward. Not for any other reason, but because Vice-President Wang was still tied up inside – it was time to settle the autumn account with him.

Assistant Wei handed the cane back to Lai Dongming, who had a dignified look as he led his subordinates and the reporters, following in Ye Tian’s footsteps into the ward.

Assistant Wei, adept at reading the room, whispered Vice-President Wang’s misdeeds into Lai Dongming’s ear.

When he heard that Wang Tianshui had intended to harm him during his critical condition, a dark cloud momentarily marred Lai Dongming’s usually impassive face.

Lai Dongming, who had built his empire from nothing and forced his competitors to retreat in defeat, was by no means a gentle soul. He was clear about right and wrong, and unforgiving with his enemies.

That man named Wang Tianshui dared to meddle with him at his weakest, and even almost killed him. Such a person, could not be left undealt with.

"Assistant Wei, call Zheng Yifan and tell him, if he wants his hospital to continue operating, I don’t want to see Wang Tianshui there anymore," Lai Dongming gave his orders directly.
