Chapter 117: Chapter 39 Pannis Travel Group_1
(263...084...458... dear readers, feel free to join the group if you’re interested. "By dissecting the formula above, we can deduce four sets of numbers, each representing an Energy Active Point of this Crystal. Yes, this is a low-capacity Crystal, only possessing four Energy Active Points. Once you’ve identified all the Energy Active Points, you need to channel your mana deep into the Crystal, centering on the Energy Active Points, compress the Crystal Energy within, and then proceed with the cutting. As for the Crystal Synthesis that we will talk about later, it also requires manipulating mana around the Energy Active Points. Therefore, understanding the breakdown of the formula is crucial to Crystal processing. Every single calculation step should be done with extreme care, any mistakes are strictly unacceptable. Remember, it’s not just about your grades, but also whether you can succeed or go bankrupt in actual cutting, and whether you are going to make a fortune or die in a real synthesis. Whether you should be careful or not is up to you, considering your own assets and safety."
"Next up is the practical assignment, each student can get a fifty-Tael low-capacity Crystal from the lab teacher for cutting, and hand it in to me during the last class the day after tomorrow. I don’t care about the shape or the cutting position, I just want to see at least one cut on it."
"Class dismissed now."
After declaring the end of the class, Vivian retakes her seat in front of the podium, rests her arm on the desk and props up her chin. She gazes out the window in deep thought, ignoring the students passing her by. Several minutes later when all the students had cleared out, Catherine, who sat at the back of the class, got up and approached Vivian. She looked at Vivian for a while with a tilted head. Seeing no reaction, she skillfully took out a lasso from her pocket and was about to put it around Vivian’s neck.
"Hey hey, big sis, what are you doing?" Vivian got startled, dodged the lasso and protested discontentedly, "Why are you trying to lasso me?"
"Huh, you’re actually still conscious and not lost in your thoughts. This doesn’t fit the pattern. I’ve never seen you still conscious after a class." Catherine sheepishly strokes her hair, giving a sheepish grin and putting away the lasso.
"So," Vivian lowers her head slightly, rolls her eyes at Catherine and says through gritted teeth, "you used to drag me out with a lasso after every class?"
"Hehe, hehe, what a lovely day it is today." Catherine turns her face and avoids eye contact.
"Humph." Vivian snorts heavily, turns her head aside and ignores Catherine, focusing again on the sky outside the window. fгeewёbnoѵel.cσm
Catherine smiles disappointingly, walks up to Vivian, embraces her and strokes her hair, "Come on, let’s stop thinking about that idiot, Lina. Let’s have fun in the city ourselves, and celebrate the Harvest Festival just the two of us."
"Having fun just the two of us?" Vivian turns her head and asks Catherine, "Where to? Aren’t we going home?"
"Of course not, it’s the Harvest Festival today!" Catherine says in an exaggerated tone, "It’s once a year! We can’t just stay home! I’ve planned it all out. Let’s have lunch at the Violet Restaurant in the commercial district. Afterward, we’ll go to the Knowledge Theater in the north district to catch a concert. There’s a touring performance by an Elf band happening there for the next couple of days. After the concert, we’ll have seafood (your favorite!) for dinner at the Sevin Hotel, before winding down with drinks and dancing at the Adventurer’s Paradise. We’ll play till late at the night before heading back to bed."
"Wow, big sis, are you out of your mind?" Vivian exclaims, "This trip would cost at least three hundred gold for both of us, right? This doesn’t sound like you at all."
"Of course I haven’t gone mad, I’m very generous." Catherine holds her head high and says with pride, "Did you forget about the celebration we had at the Adventurer’s Paradise when our adventure team got promoted to Silver Rank two years ago? Or how about the backyard barbecue party we threw for all our friends to celebrate you receiving an invitation from the Starshine Tower and becoming one of the thirteen exclusive lab owners? So, I’m not always stingy, I do splurge occasionally."
"And then spend the entire time in the house regretting it while sobbing in secret?" Vivian covers her mouth to stifle a laugh, "And then survive on dry bread for a month?"
"Hey." Catherine glares angrily, "We agreed not to bring up the dry bread incident again."
"Hehe." Vivian wraps her arms around Catherine’s neck, plants a big kiss on her face, and giggles, "Still, big sis, you’re the best, always trying to cheer me up."
Catherine lands a smack on Vivian’s butt, waves her hand and says, "Quit it with the mushy stuff, let’s go, off for lunch we go!"
"Alright, let’s go!" Vivian also perks up, jumps off the chair and takes a hold of Catherine’s arm, "Time for lunch! Lina, that idiot, will be so envious."
The two girls, arm in arm and leaning against each other, leave the classroom, leave the school building, and step out the school gate. Just a few steps out the gate, they hear a buzzing sound of machinery from behind. Amidst the noise, a voice calls from behind, "Whoa, could the two beautiful ladies please wait a moment?"
Catherine and Vivian turn around simultaneously, narrowing their eyes against the midday sun shining bright ahead. Under the piercing sunlight, a golden magic-powered motorbike is parked by the side of the road. Everything about it seems familiar - the streamlined bodywork, the robust structure, the translucent Crystal windshields, and even the large portrait of a girl pasted below the windshield.
A man is sitting astride the magic-powered motorbike, holding the handles on either side of the front which double as mana input devices. He wears a black windbreaker and has black windproof glasses on his face. With dramatic flair, he invites, "Ladies, see, the weather is so beautiful today, the sun is shining and the autumn breeze is warm. Such perfect conditions for a trip or a date. Would I have the honor, to invite the two beautiful ladies, to spend this wonderful day in my company?"
"Haha, Pannis, why are you talking in such a strange way?" Vivian laughed in surprise, her eyes lighting up as she exclaimed, "Oh, you can ride this magic-powered motorbike? For a long time?"
"Of course." Pannis, sitting on the magic-powered motorbike, gave a thumbs-up and a big smile. His white teeth sparkled in the sun. "Pannis’ Travel Group, a one-day trip to Angus Village, departs at noon, returns at midnight, includes pick up and drop off, secure and inexpensive. It’s your best travel choice. We have two spots left; would you two lovely ladies like to sign up?"
Vivian and Catherine exchanged a glance, their eyes revealing excitement. They nodded at one another and said in unison, "We want to sign up."
"Then get in." Pannis patted the front and back seats of the motorbike and took out two pairs of windproof glasses to hand to the girls. "Hold on tight and take your seats. Let’s get ready for departure."
Vivian sat sideways in the front seat, her hands holding onto the fixed handrails at the head of the bike while Catherine straddled the back seat, wrapping her arms around Pannis’ waist. Pannis put both hands on the controls, inputting mana, and the roar of the motorbike grew.
"Target, Angus Village. Time, three hours. Depart." With Pannis’ shout, the roar of the motorbike decreased; the once stationary vehicle began to move slowly forward, gradually picking up speed towards the city gate.
"Pannis," Catherine shouted over the roar of the motorbike from the back seat. "Where’s Lina?"
"She’s probably still sleeping in Angus Village." Pannis shouted back, straining against the wind, "This morning I told her I had some personal affairs to manage and didn’t tell her what I was doing, so let’s give her a surprise."
"Yes, let’s give that dummy a fright. Serving her right for not taking me along, gosh..." Vivian began to gloat loudly, dancing around on the motorbike. However, she got too carried away and took a mouthful of the wind caused by the speed, making her cough repeatedly.
"You were in Angus Village this morning?" Catherine shouted. "You didn’t ride there, and this bike was at home. How did you manage to get back here in two to three hours?"
"I have a dedicated animal that I use for transportation," Pannis responded with a mischievous smile. "It’s a type of transport animal."
"Stop talking nonsense. There’s no such animal," Catherine retorted irritably, "And I still haven’t asked you yet, you can drive a magic-powered motorbike, so that means you can use magic? You didn’t even tell us. Is there anything you can’t do?"
Pannis gave an awkward laugh and shouted at the top of his lungs, "What did you say? I couldn’t hear you over the wind!"
"You jerk, Pannis!" Catherine pounded on Pannis’s back with her fists and couldn’t help but yell, "You just said, Lina is still asleep?"
"Yep!" Pannis shouted. "She didn’t sleep all of last night. She probably didn’t sleep well the night before last either, so she had to catch up today. Otherwise, she wouldn’t make it to the festival tonight."
"What happened?" Catherine asked in a worried voice. "Why didn’t she rest all night?"
"There was a bad incident in Angus Village," Pannis replied. "We had a little adventure. We ran into some issues, but luckily, everything got resolved in the end."
"What kind of issues?" Catherine frowned, full of concern. "Was there any danger?"
"Sure, there was some danger, but see, I’m fine, and there’s nothing wrong with Lina either." Pannis answered, completely unbothered, "We’re adventurers after all. It’s normal to face some danger."
"Alright, it’s good as long as you two are fine." Catherine was still a bit concerned, but as Pannis said, both of them were safe in the end, and that was enough. "I’m really curious about what happened."
"Haha, it’s a very exciting story. When we see Lina, let her tell it to you." Seeing that they had left the west city gate leading to The Door to the Outside World and that the pedestrians and carriages on the road were becoming fewer, Pannis moved the lever near the steering wheel with his thumb while increasing his mana output. This allowed the magic-powered motorbike to speed up again, "Hold on everyone, I’m about to speed up."
The rumbling sound suddenly increased, and the magic-powered motorbike tore through the city streets as if a violent wind was propelling it, kicking up clouds of dust.
