Chapter 310: Chapter 310-Congratulations

Morrison, as Dave’s friend, was also one of the invited guests. Sitting there, he teased,

"How can you not kiss in a moment like this?"

"Come on, come on, hurry up and kiss!"

Vivian joined in the teasing,

"Yeah, kiss already!"

Morrison was sitting next to Lilian, and now everyone around the round table turned to look at Dave’s family of three. Morrison was practically behind Lilian at that moment.

Hearing him repeatedly shout "kiss, kiss," Lilian was both angry and annoyed, and she shot him a fierce glare.

This person really couldn’t pick his moments, could he? There were so many elders here, and yet he had the nerve to make such a scene.

Also, who in the world arranged the seating? Why was she seated next to him?

Dave and Laurent, however, were both quite composed. When everyone teased them to kiss, they shared a gentle kiss, then kissed their daughter’s little face. The little girl giggled happily and kissed both of them in return, allowing the family of three to finally sit down.

Lilian watched their warm family scene, feeling moved to the point that her eyes started to sting with tears.

"This is just so wonderful, so wonderful."

Lilian’s right side was next to Morrison, and on her left was Vivian, with whom she had become quite familiar because of Laurent. She leaned in to talk to Vivian,

" you have no idea, after what happened between my brother and Laurent, I lost all faith in love. But now, seeing them reconcile, I’m just so happy."

She was talking to Vivian, but Morrison, on her right, also overheard.

Lost faith in love?

Then what was she doing trying to have a relationship with *him*?

Was she playing him?

Morrison felt a surge of anger as he thought about it.

Vivian smiled and looked at Lilian.

"Well, now that they’ve reconciled, maybe you should start believing in love again."

Lilian pouted.

"No, I still don’t believe in it. Whether they reconcile or not doesn’t matter; the shadow has already been cast."

Vivian thought she was just expressing the fleeting sentiment of a young girl.

"Don’t be so pessimistic, love is still beautiful, and marriage is even more beautiful."

Lilian shook her head firmly.

"I don’t want to get married. I’m a staunch believer in *no marriage*."

On the side, Morrison took a sip from his glass of wine. No faith in love? No marriage?

Then what did their past relationship count as?

The dinner was enjoyable, and everyone offered their congratulations to Dave and Laurent, especially Vivian and Adeline. The two women had witnessed Laurent’s journey from his one-sided admiration for Dave to finally finding love. They knew all too well the struggles and pain in between.

While Dave and Laurent were drinking with Vivian, she was on the verge of tears, sternly telling Dave,

"If you dare bully our Laurent again, we’ll make sure you pay for it!"

Frank, sitting beside her, wrapped his arm around her and teased,

"Alright, alright, you’re just a girl. How are you going to make him pay? You can’t even beat him, and you certainly don’t have the power or influence he has!"

Frank was joking, making light of the situation.

After everything that had happened, everyone could clearly see the deep affection Dave had for Laurent. It seemed their future together would no longer be filled with obstacles.

When it came to Bert’s turn, he stood up holding his wine glass and, with a faint smile, said,

"Congratulations."

Dave smiled back.

"Actually, I should thank you. Otherwise, I wouldn’t have found this kind of love."

Indeed, Bert should be thanked. If Bert hadn’t been so obsessed with wanting what he had, using all sorts of tactics to take Clark from him, Laurent wouldn’t have had a place in his life.

"Heh."

Bert’s smile was somewhat cold.

"Let’s just say you’re lucky."

He then raised his glass to them and drank the contents in one go.

Dave laughed.

"If you want to put it that way, I’ll accept it. I am lucky to have met such an amazing woman."

As he spoke, Dave tightened his arm around Laurent’s shoulder and also drank down the rest of his wine.

If everything could be attributed to fate, then it was truly his good fortune—he had met a woman who loved him and was worthy of his love in return.

Out of politeness, Laurent took a sip of his drink as well, but didn’t say anything more, simply following Dave as they left.

The many grudges between the two of them were their own business, and had nothing to do with her.

As for Bert, she would continue to keep a distant, neutral attitude. Given Clark’s past, she knew how much Dave cared about it, so she would stay as far away from Bert as possible, not wanting to make Dave feel even the slightest discomfort because of these matters.

After they left, Bert sat back down in his seat, then began drinking one glass after another.

When he received Dave’s invitation for the banquet today, he didn’t want to come. However, after hesitating, he eventually decided to show up, to wish Dave happiness.

If this had been before, there was no way he would have ever offered such a blessing to Dave.

But today, he came. He knew that meant the grudges he had held in his heart for all these years were slowly easing, though he wasn’t sure if Dave felt the same way about him.

Later, he thought, if Dave hadn’t let go of the past, he wouldn’t have helped him through the Washington Co. crisis.

Laurent, along with Dave, went over to Matthew. Matthew sincerely wished them happiness. For Laurent, Matthew was like a mentor, so she gladly drank with him. Then Matthew said,

"I met Laurent by accident, and I didn’t expect to discover such a gem."

Matthew reminisced about their first encounter, giving Laurent such high praise. Back then, he had simply passed by the booth where Laurent’s factory was exhibiting, but he was drawn in by her dedication and gentle, meticulous nature. He felt that working with someone like her would be very comfortable, so they tentatively started their initial collaboration, and it turned out to be a success, leading to an unstoppable partnership.

Laurent felt somewhat embarrassed by Matthew’s compliments, and took this opportunity to apologize to him about her decision not to go to A.T.

"Matthew, I’m sorry, about the A.T. situation..."

Before Laurent could finish, Matthew interrupted.

"Speaking of this, I think the person who should be thanked the most is Lord Washington. We should thank him for his painful sacrifice, agreeing to send you to A.T. to help me manage the new company."

Laurent was stunned. What did he mean by agreeing to send her to A.T.? Didn’t she say she wasn’t going?

Matthew continued with a smile.

"However, Lord Washington set a condition. Just one year—no more, not even a second longer. Starting from the day you take the position, 365 days, not a second more."

This was the conversation Dave had when he called Matthew using Laurent’s phone.

Even though Laurent had insisted she wouldn’t go to A.T., in the end, Dave couldn’t bear to make her feel conflicted. He chose to compromise, allowing her to chase her dreams and career.

He personally called Matthew to confirm that he agreed to her going, but with a condition: it could only be for one year. Not a second more, because each extra second meant a second of longing and pain for him.

Once the year was up, she had to return to A.T. and be by his side immediately.

Only then would he agree to let her go.
