Zombie Apocalypse: Creation-Chapter 793: A Free Day?
"That’s all I have for today. If you have any questions, you can come up and ask me directly."
As the class ended, students began getting up from their chairs and leaving the classroom.
Checking the phone, it was already eleven o’clock. With no time to waste, Xiaoyun quickly got up and headed towards the exit.
"Wait, sir. Can I ask you something?"
The sudden voice from behind made him stop. Turning around, the familiar-looking girl was looking towards him.
"You’re the govern—"
"You’re Lily’s friend, right?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Xiaoyun interrupted as he magically took out a pair of sunglasses from his pocket to cover himself from other students walking by.
"Yes. I’m Xuewei.. Govern-Mister, why are you here?"
"I came to check out the university’s first day. That’s all. Ahem, I got to go now."
Before Xuewei could ask any more questions, Xiaoyun had already disappeared into the crowds of students leaving the classroom.
---
As Xiaoyun stepped out of the university, his phone suddenly shook a little. Taking it out, Yueyue had sent him a text.
Yueyue: Why are you in my class?
Xiaoyun: I just wanted to check out the university. Happen to run into your class.
After replying back, he threw his phone over to the passenger seat as he inserted the key, starting up the car as he checked the car timer.
"Only eleven o’five. Where do I go first? Probably to Yuqi’s place first..."
With the decision made, he began driving the car down the streets. Along the way, his phone shook several times.
Not once did he bother checking it. Only when the car came to a complete stop did he check his phone again.
It was full of messaging from Yueyue, ranging from the annoyed emoji to asking him for a response to inviting him out for lunch.
"Got work."
The phone didn’t shake again as he put it back into his pocket. Stepping out of the car, he was already at the office entrance.
"Good morning, Governor."
"Morning."
As Xiaoyun walked past the front desk, he took the elevator up to the top floor. Once the door opened, he stepped out to the main office.
"Morning, Governor." One of the office workers in their cubicle waved.
"Morning... Is Yuqi at the office today?" Xiaoyun asked, noticing the office looked much emptier than usual.
"She’s out to be at a meeting with the Qingyuan mayor. I think they’ll be back by five o’clock or so."
"Did she leave any messages for me?"
"Not that I know of."
"I see. Thank you."
---
As Xiaoyun arrived in the logistics building, he found himself in another empty room as Houqin wasn’t in her office.
When he asked one of the workers in the other rooms where she went, the response he got was shockingly similar.
"She’s out to Shenzhen to arrange a meeting with General Lingang and General Wuli regarding unit promotions."
"I see. Thank you."
Going back into the hallway, Xiaoyun found himself with nothing to do despite everyone seemingly being busy.
"What are the odds... Whatever, time to go home early then."
A few minutes later...
Xiaoyun was back at the garage. Putting the car in park, he stepped out of the car as he headed into the living room.
"Hello?"
Not a single living soul was in the house. He looked around for a bit before finding Leyan’s shoe missing from the front entrance.
"She headed out, too? With all the babies?"
After sending a short text over to Leyan, Xiaoyun soon got a response. It turned out that she headed out to visit Yezi’s wife.
"Can’t be serious... I really have nothing to do, huh?"
Sitting on the sofa, his hand instinctively reached for the TV remote. Turning it revealed a static screen as no channels were on air.
"There has to be something that I can do..."
The guilt of sitting idle made him stand back up as he looked around himself. All of the floors were already vacuumed and wiped.
Over in the laundry room, the clothes were already all washed, including the dirty blankets from last night.
In the backyard, there wasn’t much to do until he reached the very outer edge of the fence.
"Finally, something I can do."
After taking the leaf rake from the garage, Xiaoyun began sweeping the leaves and loading them into a bag he created.
Ten minutes later...
"Now what?"
With the bag full of leaves, he threw it into the compost bin outside the house before heading back inside the house.
Back on the sofa, there was once again nothing much to do. Taking out his phone, he began scrolling until an idea suddenly popped into his head.
Xiaoyun: You there?
After sending the text, a response came within seconds.
Yueyue: What?
Xiaoyun: Are you busy right now?
Yueyue: No, why do you ask?
Xiaoyun: I have nothing to do right now. Do you need help with anything?
Yueyue: You free? Out of all people?
Xiaoyun: I’m not joking. Do you have anything I can do? Or else I’m going to nap on the sofa right now.
Yueyue: Didn’t you say earlier you had work?
Xiaoyun: Yuqi and Houqin both had meetings. If you don’t have anything, I’m going to go ask someone else."
Yueyue: I got nothing for you. I just finished teaching and am sitting in my office right now.
Seeing Yueyue just as free as him, Xiaoyun turned his attention over to Kate and Anna. However, neither of them responded to him.
With both options out, he started texting every single one of them. Almost none of them respond back as if they were all busy.
The only one who responded was Leyan, who invited him to go meet with Yezi’s wife for an afternoon tea.
"I’m good."
After sending the voice message, Xiaoyun threw the phone aside and lay down on the sofa.
His eyes were staring at the ceiling as he started to zone out a little. There was just nothing much he needed to do despite it being a Monday.
"Maybe I should go pick up a hobby."
Sitting back up, he froze in place as everything came up blank in his head. He couldn’t think of a single hobby in his head.
"Do I even have any hobbies?"
The more Xiaoyun thought about it, the more he began to realize he had practically spent zero time on himself.
Every waking hour, he spent working for the settlement or fulfilling the needs of the people close to him.
Not once did he tell himself to go read a book for fun or watch a movie by himself.
He has always been doing things with his wives, from work to the bedroom. Even when asleep, he’s with them.
"I need to spend some time for fun... No, self-improvement. Can’t waste time on doing nothing."
Just as he was about to get up from the sofa, his phone suddenly shook a little. Picking it up, it was a text.
Tianci: You have nothing to do?
Xiaoyun: Yeah, I have nothing to do. Do you need me to help you with anything?
Tianci: Come over to my lab. I have something that needs your help.
Xiaoyun: Okay, be there in a few.
Putting the phone back into his pocket, Xiaoyun quickly grabbed his keys as he headed back into the garage.
Once out of the house, he began driving down mostly empty streets as it wasn’t lunch hour yet.
A few minutes later...
"Good afternoon, Governor."
"Afternoon. Can you open the door for me? I need to talk to Tianci."
"No problem, sir."
After the guards opened the door, Xiaoyun quickly entered past the airlock and soon arrived inside the lab.
Walking down the hallway, he could see through the glass of each room, with scientists conducting some sort of experiment.
Xiaoyun: I’m at the lab. Where are you?
Within seconds of sending the message out, one of the room’s doors opened, revealing Tianci in her white lab coat.
"There you are. Come quickly. I need fresh samples for this experiment. Don’t ask questions right now."
As she dragged Xiaoyun into the room, several people in lab coats started putting a whole apron over his jacket.
"What fresh sample?"
"Just a quick blood draw. It’s nothing dangerous. Just sit down here and relax... Syringe"
One of the scientists quickly handed Tianci the tool as Xiaoyun sat down in a chair, waiting for her to draw out his blood.
"What’s this apron for? I don’t remember blood draw needing this."
"Don’t worry about it."
Tianci’s mysterious answer only made him more intrigued, but he chose to remain silent as she began drawing blood from his arm.
With the syringe filling up, Tianci quickly detached the full vials before a nearby scientist handed her a new glass vial.
"How much are you drawing?" Xiaoyun asked as he watched her replace the vial with a brand new one for the third time.
"At least fifty vials... You can handle it, right?"
"I’m fine."
