Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1629 - 1626: Another Demon Exorcist
"Luoxi, you brought me here just to look at mice?" Lin Tian looked around and found only mice in the basement. However, it was strange that each of them was isolated.
Mice? Lin Tian suddenly remembered something, but before he could think further, Thunder Wolf had already walked to a cage, signaling Lin Tian to look over. "Let’s first observe the behavior of two mice together."
As he spoke, he pulled up the cage’s partition, causing the two originally isolated mice to face each other directly. The mice first moved their heads left and right, as if smelling something, and gradually moved closer as if attracted by each other’s scent.
Suddenly, the two mice lunged at each other, biting furiously as if they had gone mad. The scene was very bloody, with fur torn and blood gushing, leaving the cage in utter disarray.
After ten minutes, both mice stopped because they were dead, having bitten each other to death, ending in mutual destruction. Their ferocity reminded Lin Tian of those zombies on TV.
"Clean it up." Ning Luoxi instructed.
Thunder Wolf was about to remove the cage, but Lin Tian stopped him: "Don’t move, let me do it."
Ning Luoxi and Thunder Wolf both looked at Lin Tian, not knowing what he meant. Lin Tian didn’t explain, but raised his hand, and with a thought, a purple flame appeared in his palm.
"Wow!" Thunder Wolf exclaimed in fright, retreating repeatedly. Ning Luoxi wasn’t as alarmed but remained grim-faced.
Thunder Wolf swallowed dryly, pointing at Lin Tian, struggling to speak: "Lin... Brother Lin Tian, what is that thing?"
"What’s the panic? As Thunder Wolf Captain, handling so many mysterious cases, just this level of psychological endurance?" Ning Luoxi said expressionlessly, admonishing him.
"Instructor Ning, it’s not that my psychological endurance is lacking. Those things happened to others before, suddenly Lin Tian started playing with fire, I was too surprised." Thunder Wolf defended, genuinely not scared, just very surprised.
Ning Luoxi stared at the flame in Lin Tian’s palm with a serious expression: "Everyone’s energy attributes are different in cultivation. Fire is also a form of energy, similar to an Ancient Martial Artist’s True Qi energy; just think of it like that."
Although she was comforting Thunder Wolf, her own inner turmoil was greater than she showed, as her spiritual sense was stronger than Thunder Wolf’s, allowing her to feel the destructive aura of the purple flame more deeply.
"Brother Lin Tian, what’s your purpose with this fire?" Thunder Wolf asked, recovering his composure but confused.
"Watch closely." Lin Tian gestured at the cage, moving his fingers slightly. A wisp of purple flame slipped into the cage, circled the mouse corpses, and the mice were incinerated into nothingness.
Lin Tian timely retracted the purple flame, staring at the cage, and just as he expected, two wisps of black smoke hovered inside. Although the smoke was faint, the three of them, being extraordinary, clearly saw it.
"It seems you’ve encountered a Secret Master." Ning Luoxi said upon seeing this, knowing Lin Tian wasn’t facing this kind of mice for the first time.
Lin Tian shook his head softly: "Not yet encountered, but he’s already probing. How did you get these mice?"
"Li Qingyun captured them. The control method on these mice has signs of Gu and witchcraft, a technique only a Secret Master can manage. So, I’m sure the Secret Master from last time has reappeared in Jinghua City, and he’s targeting you," Ning Luoxi looked at Lin Tian, her expression slightly grave.
"You already know about the ancient zither?" Lin Tian was slightly surprised, as Ning Luoxi’s words clearly hinted at something.
Thunder Wolf replied with a smile: "Such a big event, how could we not know?"
"You came to find me, is it to remind me, or do you already have a plan?" Lin Tian asked, not knowing the purpose behind Ning Luoxi’s intent.
Ning Luoxi hesitated for a moment before speaking: "We want to ask for your assistance in capturing the Secret Master."
"Assistance in capturing the Secret Master?" Although Lin Tian had guessed this outcome, he was still somewhat surprised.
"Yes, not just you, but also Xiao Manxuan; we need her cooperation too," Ning Luoxi continued.
"Xuanxuan?" Lin Tian was stunned for a moment, but upon thinking, he understood Ning Luoxi’s plan: "I see, you want to use the zither music to lure out the Secret Master, but..."
Ning Luoxi raised her hand, interrupting his words: "It’s good that you understand. I also know your concern; you’re worried Xuanxuan might get hurt. Her safety during the operation will be entirely in your hands. Do you have the confidence to protect her?"
"If that’s the case, no problem, but I’ll have to ask her. I don’t have the right to control her actions." Lin Tian agreed, knowing very well that given Xiao Manxuan’s personality, she would definitely agree.
"No rush on that; first, I’ll take you to meet someone." Ning Luoxi said.
"Meet someone else? If he’s not meeting here, looks like he’s quite pompous." Lin Tian said amusingly.
Upon Lin Tian’s remark, Ning Luoxi and Thunder Wolf’s expressions became a bit odd. Thunder Wolf, usually bold and forthright, smiled helplessly: "Haha, you’ll know once you meet him."
Without any further explanation, they turned and left the basement. The three left the courtyard, exited the alley, and got into the car, with Thunder Wolf continuing to drive.
This time, they didn’t go through the traditional hutong but instead headed towards the bustling city area. The off-road vehicle drove into a hotel parking lot, and when exiting the parking lot, Lin Tian noted the slogan on the building—a five-star hotel.
"Staying in a high-end hotel. Is he spending taxpayers’ money?" Lin Tian asked.
"No, he’s using his own money. His family is wealthy, so he can afford to be capricious." Thunder Wolf replied with a smile.
Entering the hotel and taking the elevator, Lin Tian followed the two to room 908. They rang the doorbell, and after about ten seconds, the door opened.
Lin Tian curiously looked at the person behind the door. Surprisingly, it was a young man, and once Lin Tian saw his appearance clearly, his eyes narrowed.
The young man wore a casual shirt, black pants, leather shoes, and his hairstyle was meticulously arranged. The shirt collar and pleats were carefully organized, indicating he was a young man who cared deeply about his appearance.
A man who spends more time grooming himself than a woman is either overly concerned with his image or has a cleanliness obsession; whatever the case, such a person must be difficult to deal with.
The man noticed Lin Tian’s gaze, showing an uncomfortable expression on his face, and quickly verbalized this discomfort: "Do we know each other? Staring at me like that is quite impolite."
Ning Luoxi and Thunder Wolf also glanced at Lin Tian oddly. Lin Tian retracted his gaze, naturally saying: "We’re not acquainted. You just remind me of an old acquaintance."
Lin Tian didn’t speak the truth because he recognized the young man in front of him from months ago. At that time, Lin Tian was tracking the Half Zombies, who escaped by causing the Blood Angel to self-destruct midway, running into two Demon Exorcists intercepting them, one being Zhang Lingyu.
And the other male Demon Exorcist was the young man in front of him!
