Chapter 63: Chapter 63- Trust me

As Julian and Rayden stepped out of the examination room, Lucia approached them immediately, concern visible on her face.

"How was the analysis?" she asked.

Rayden shook his head. "Still ongoing. Mr. Elien and Clint are doing their best."

Lucia gave a slow nod before Julian spoke up. "We should gather everyone. There’s something I need to share."

"I’ll call my team," Rayden offered, already turning to signal his subordinates. Lucia followed Julian without question.

Moments later, everyone had gathered in the dimly lit meeting chamber within the safehouse. The air was tense, the mood grave. Julian stepped forward, all eyes on him.

"When I was retrieving the sample, I made detours to each of the gates," Julian began.

Clarissa raised an eyebrow. "So that’s why you took so long to come back."

Rayden leaned forward slightly. "What did you find?"

Julian exhaled. "Each gate is heavily guarded. Not only by infected troops, but also three skill users per post."

Lucia’s expression darkened. "That’s likely to keep us from escaping. A twisted yet calculated tactic."

Veronica crossed her arms with a scoff. "Three skill users at each gate... that means twelve across all fronts."

Julian nodded. "That’s right. Though I’m not sure if Frederik himself has a skill."

Rayden added, "From Celestia’s report, it’s unlikely he possesses a direct combat skill. However, it’s clear he has some form of control over her squad... perhaps something psychological, or worse."

Emma, trying to lighten the atmosphere with her usual energy, said with a grin, "Then let’s just go and smash their leader! We’ve got all of us here, we can do it!"

Naria, her voice flat and calm as always, interrupted, "If we all charge the same location, they’ll simply converge everything to the center. That gives them the advantage, not us."

Julian nodded in agreement. "She’s right."

Clarissa looked around the room. "Then the only choice is to strike simultaneously from all sides. We hit every gate, divide their strength, and cut through."

Lucia straightened, her tone commanding. "In that case, we’ll need to split into several teams."

Celestia was the first to speak, her tone steady but laced with concern.

"That plan is too reckless," she said, arms crossed tightly over her chest. "There are still numerous infected forces stationed at each gate. If they’re given orders, they’ll swarm us before we can even take a step."

Rayden nodded, thoughtful. "We’ll need to count on Mr. Elien and Clint, then. If there’s even a small chance they can create a cure, we’ll have to buy them the time they need."

Julian took a breath, his sharp gaze sweeping across the room. "Agreed. But before we make any final move, you all need to know what we’re dealing with. I’ve gathered intel while scouting each sector."

The room fell quiet. Everyone turned toward him.

Julian raised a hand, and a faint flicker of electricity danced across his fingers as if emphasizing the seriousness of the information.

"At the western gate, I spotted Mira, Cassian, and a new figure. someone with the ability to manipulate earth itself." He paused, looking at Celestia.

Her expression hardened, a shadow falling across her face. She said nothing, but her clenched fists trembled slightly.

Rayden narrowed his eyes. "That sounds like Colonel Darius Velstein... One of the original designers of the military’s automated defense network. I never thought he’d end up on the other side."

Naria exhaled slowly, folding her arms. "He trained some of us. I can’t believe we’ll have to fight him now."

Julian gave her a nod before continuing.

"At the southern gate, we’ve got Hike, Frederik, and Reinar, You’ve all seen what they’re capable of "

Julian continued with a slight frown. "At the eastern gate, there’s Marek, Igor, and doppelgänger user."

There was a small gasp from Rin. Her voice was quiet, hesitant. "The doppelgänger... That’s Adrian Marlo, my senior during training. He used to help me control my abilities. Why would he...?"

She trailed off, and the room seemed to grow heavier with each word.

Then he took a slow breath before delivering the final blow.

"And at the northern gate... There’s a wind-user, someone who can harden his body like iron. But also—" he hesitated just a second too long—"Claus Claint."

The name struck like a whipcrack in the room.

Aya stood frozen, her eyes wide and full of disbelief.

"...Claus?" she whispered. "My... my brother?"

At the eastern gate, Marek stood motionless atop a broken watchtower, his cold eyes observing the two mutants below as they tore through waves of zombies with effortless brutality.

He said nothing.

The sounds of cracked bone, splattered flesh, and manic laughter filled the air, yet Marek remained still, unmoved.

His thoughts churned beneath the calm exterior.

’Why am I even here?’

He clenched his fists.

’The General promised I’d be stationed by his side... That I’d lead the next elite unit. That I’d be the one trusted to guard him, not exiled to this damn outpost with these brain-dead freaks and their puppet soldiers!’

His eyes flicked toward Igor and Reinar, the two mutants dancing between infected with unhinged glee.

He scoffed.

’Idiots. They don’t understand loyalty. They’re just toys to the General.’

Marek closed his eyes for a moment and focused.

He summoned his [Predator Mark], his signature ability, meant to track and execute enemies no matter where they hid. He’d carefully marked Rayden and several other traitors days ago.

But now... nothing.

A frown crept over his face. freēnovelkiss.com

He tried again, pushing more energy into the skill, seeking even the faintest trace of the mark’s signal.

Still nothing.

"...What?"

He blinked, his usual cold demeanor giving way to confusion. And then anger.

’Is this... Rayden’s doing? Has he found a way to block my mark?’

’That bastard!’

A surge of frustration built inside him.

’Every time... Every damn time, he ruins everything! He’s always in the way. Always a step ahead. If I ever see him again—’

Marek’s thoughts were sharp, burning. His teeth clenched.

’I’ll kill him myself.’

He looked back toward the battlefield, toward the two mutant companions laughing like madmen. His fists tightened at his sides.

’One day soon... I’ll remind everyone what true loyalty looks like.’

That night, under the quiet shadow of the ruined ceiling, the hideout was calm, almost eerily so. The crackle of distant fire and occasional echo of footsteps were the only sounds that drifted through the darkness.

Julian stepped away from the main room, his eyes scanning the dim corridor until he spotted her.

Aya.

She sat alone on the far side of the base, her knees pulled up, arms wrapped around them. Her eyes were distant, focused on nothing, yet weighed with everything.

Julian approached quietly, his voice soft but steady.

"Are you okay?"

Aya didn’t respond right away. Her fingers tensed against her sleeves.

"...I’m fine," she said finally, her voice fragile. "Just... shaken, I guess. I never thought I’d have to fight my own brother."

Julian sat down beside her, the warmth of his presence easing some of the cold lingering in her chest.

"I promise you," he said, his tone firm, "I’ll bring him back. No matter what. So please... trust me."

Aya blinked, her lips trembling slightly. She lowered her head for a moment, then gave a small laugh.

"...You said the same thing to me, remember? Back when we first met. ’Trust me.’"

Julian’s eyes softened. He gave a small nod.

"And I meant it then... just like I mean it now."

Aya turned to him, her eyes glistening under the low light. Then, without another word, just emotion and memory guiding her, she leaned forward.

And kissed him.

Aya spoke nervously to Julian, her voice trembling slightly. "I want to do something... intimate with you."

Julian nodded without hesitation. They headed to the bedroom, and Julian locked the door behind them.

Unable to hold back, Aya kissed Julian fiercely, her passion raw and urgent. Julian welcomed the kiss, matching her intensity as his hands began to explore her body.

He cupped her large breasts, teasing them gently. Then his hands slid to her sexy hips, making Aya moan softly,

"Ahh... Julian..."

They broke apart, their eyes locking in a heated gaze. Julian smirked,

"It’s unusual for you to be the one asking."

Aya’s voice was soft but determined. "I just want to be loved tonight."

Julian nodded and began to remove her clothes. Her tight top clung to her ample breasts, each unbuttoned button revealing more of her curves. Her black bra underneath was incredibly sexy, accentuating her allure perfectly.

Julian slowly removed her bra, revealing her nipples, already hardened and flushed with desire. Without hesitation, he quickly licked and sucked on her breasts, causing Aya to moan softly.

"Ahh... Julian... uhmm..."

With both hands, Julian cupped her breasts, taking both nipples into his mouth. Aya’s moans grew louder, her pleasure intensifying.

Releasing her chest, Julian lifted the breathless Aya into his arms and carried her to the bed.

"Love me a lot today, Julian," Aya whispered, her voice trembling with need.

Julian nodded firmly, his eyes dark with promise. "I’ll love you until you pass out."
