One-Eyed Monster
Chapter 847 - 845: Perkins (Part 2)
Perkins emerged from his thoughts, realizing that being overwhelmed with emotions was not a solution; only careful preparation could address the future.
Even if the future was profoundly unknown, he would brace himself to face it because he had no way out, so he might as well take a gamble.
Perkins smiled, glanced at the people around him, and felt as though it was just yesterday.
Back then, he left, and now he has returned; when he left, he had nothing, but now he returns with a full cart.
From this point of view, Perkins's journey can really be considered an inspirational story.
The contents of this cart are essentially all his gains, the result of his years of traveling the world.
He realized he was currently confused, yet there was a trace of homesickness in his heart, and he felt a bit tired. He might not travel the world again for some time.
"When I was traveling the world, I learned that my foster father had established the Yonder Travel Academy. At the time, I felt it was a great initiative." Perkins's thoughts returned to the present. He couldn't let his sentiments affect everyone else's emotions, although theirs didn't seem particularly vibrant either.
Nakasha's feelings were complex and conflicted as he had offended someone he shouldn't have, and upon returning, he would surely face repercussions. They had become hardened by such intrigues. Despite Perkins appearing amiable now, who knew how many tricks he might pull later? So Nakasha sat silently on the cart, his face plainly showing visible sadness. ππΏπ²ππ πππ»πΌπ―ππ.ππΌπΊ
The thoughts of others differed from Nakasha's. Igor greatly admired Perkins's world travels. He had many questions for Perkins, but since Perkins was conversing with Hustace, he couldn't interrupt. Furthermore, seeing Perkins deep in thought, he couldn't bring himself to disturb him.
Hustace was very happy, yet there was a faint sadness within that he couldn't quite understand. However, he knew Perkins must have many stories.
"Brother Perkins, you left so hastily back then. Although I was young, thinking back, you seemed so cool at that time. I really envy you."
"Hehehe, let me tell you, don't envy me. Speaking of envy, I envy you, Hustace, for having parents who love you so much, which no one else can give you." Perkins gazed into the distance, seemingly reminded of a sorrowful memory.
"Tell us what you encountered along the way. What's the world like?" Igor finally chimed in, his curiosity piqued, with ears perked up for quite a while.
"Hehehe, I encountered many things along the way, but my greatest gain is a new discovery."
"A new discovery? Did you discover a new continent or a new mountain?" Igor's face was full of anticipation, like a child confronted with an unseen delicacy.
"Uh, neither of those." After speaking, Perkins seemed a bit ashamed, as if he felt he hadn't done well enough.
"Then did you discover a new species, or new vegetation, or things unknown to others?" Igor continued stubbornly. A new discovery should certainly involve something new, or what else would it mean?
"This, none of that either." Perkins's voice lowered, feeling even more embarrassed.
"Uh, so what did you discover?" Igor scratched his head, confused by Perkins.
"Hehe, let me tell you, while my discovery can't compare to a new continent or species, it can change the fate of many people."
"What is it, then?" Igor's interest was piqued again, and his earlier disappointment dissipated. In this regard, he was a man without principles.
"Hehe, you must know that this world is very magical." Perkins didn't directly answer Igor's question, instead speaking to himself.
Yet this self-talk drew considerable attention, with even Stan Sol, who had been resting his eyes, opening them to see what exactly Perkins was up to.
Perkins enjoyed chatting and sharing everything, which often led to suffering.
In the Kayne Realm, he nearly got tossed into a river for his loose tongue, and in the Ghost Realm, it was even worse, with him nearly getting flayed alive. The people in the Vero Realm were slightly better, but even there, he was locked in a grove because of his mouth, which was the territory of the Tree Spirits. Surviving their wrath intact made him rather fortunate.
"Let me tell you, the world isn't as we imagine it; it's continually changing." Perkins seemed lost in his own thoughts again, talking of who-knows-what.
"What are you talking about?"
"Oh, nothing, Hustace. Just some thoughts." Perkins was brought back to reality by Hustace.
"You still haven't told us what this new discovery is." Igor eagerly reminded Perkins.
"Hehehe, I never thought I could become an Adventurer with Class, yet now I can wander the world like an Adventurer. Doesn't that count as a new discovery?" Perkins said to Igor, his tale closely related to his current identity.
"This... should count." Igor scratched his head. It was undeniable that he considered this phenomenon a new discovery.
"Hehe, let me tell you, it's not over yet. Don't you think it's incredible that I managed to stop them from hitting me just now? That's also a new discovery." Perkins gestured towards Nakasha, making Nakasha's heart race even more. He thought, surely this guy wouldn't seek immediate revenge by sabotaging them?
"It counts, it counts. I've been curious too, how did you do it, making so many people unable to move?"
"Hehe, there's a little secret in it." Perkins's face was filled with smiles. For him, there was rarely anything to keep secret.
He had shared these travel experiences with many along the way, without concealing a bit. However, few were willing to believe his words.
His attire and the lack of Spirit Power made most people think of him as a charlatan.
The truth being dismissed as lies is indeed a pitiful situation.
But Perkins himself was unaware of this, mistaking their indifference for respect.
