Ranaway From Wedding, Fell into Tycoon's Love Trap
Chapter 1071: But They Don’t Love Each Other
It was already a mistake back then, and now it can’t go on being wrong.
Ever since Sophia Wood talked with Alice Turner, she made up her mind to correct this mistake, "Yes! I agree to their divorce. Since they don’t have feelings for each other, let them seek their own happiness."
Her daughter can find a man she loves, and she believes the other’s son can find a woman he loves. Both of them are excellent, just lacking affection between them.
"How can you agree to that? Back then, we persuaded the two children to get married together." Isla Lane couldn’t understand why Sophia would do this, nor could she accept her approach. She initially thought she could find an ally, but didn’t expect such a result.
Isla’s reaction was expected by Sophia, and she wasn’t surprised at all. She was only worried, worried that Isla still stubbornly wanted to force two incompatible people together.
"They won’t be happy together, let alone joyful." She paused and still spoke her persuasion: "You and his dad shouldn’t push the kids anymore. They’re grown-ups now; they have their own thinking and ideas."
Having been wrong once, she didn’t want to be wrong again. This time, she wouldn’t be an enabler; she would strive to correct this mistake.
Isla stared at Sophia without blinking, as if she suddenly didn’t recognize her, "You, how can you say that? The two of them are so suitable together."
Her tone contained a trace of dissatisfaction, and her face didn’t look as good as before.
"But they don’t love each other!" Lily Turner spoke before Sophia could, as a junior, she wanted to interrupt, but she simply couldn’t hold back any longer.
Isla immediately turned to look at Lily Turner, dissatisfaction flashing in her eyes, "People develop feelings for each other after spending time together."
Not only did she say it, but she genuinely believed that feelings grow with time.
"Feelings do develop with time, but those feelings aren’t necessarily love." Before Lily could speak, Sophia quickly replied to Isla.
Hearing this, Lily nodded in agreement. This time she didn’t speak again, choosing instead to quietly observe the two elders sitting not far from her.
But Isla held a different view from the mother and daughter, and she opened her mouth to retort: "Nowadays young people love passionately, yet divorces aren’t any less common. Back in our days, marriages were arranged and parents made the decisions, and it seemed fine to me. There weren’t so many divorces."
She compared her era to the present, simply to express a view that in marital life, love isn’t that important.
"You can’t say that. Fewer people from our generation divorced, not because we lived happier lives, but because divorcing was shameful. People justified enduring it for the children’s sake." Sophia wasn’t trying to confront Isla bluntly; she just wanted to correct her view on marriage, hoping she wouldn’t force Alice Turner and Benjamin Shaw to get back together.
Isla was aware that what Sophia said also existed, since she had an old friend in such a situation. Remembering her old friend, Isla started to hesitate.
"Benjamin and Alice’s situation is different from theirs. I think these two kids can try to get along." Despite her inner hesitance, her words were unwavering.
