"We’ll talk about it at home."

Charlotte’s voice was so loud that it was hard for Alexander not to hear it. Before Isla could speak, he tilted his head to stop her from talking to the person on the other end of the phone.

Hearing this, Isla looked at Alexander, her face full of displeasure. She wasn’t happy, but she still did as he suggested, "Your dad and I will be back soon, we’ll talk about it when we’re home."

After saying that, she didn’t wait for the person on the other end to respond and decisively hung up. She didn’t care at all about what the person on the other end might think.

With Isla hanging up the phone like that, Charlotte felt the situation was even more unusual, but she respected her parents’ wishes and waited for them to come home to ask about it.

Due to the sudden phone call, the atmosphere in the car became awkward once again.

Alice Turner turned her body and looked out the car window at the rapidly passing street scenes. Although she wasn’t in the mood to enjoy the scenery, her eyes stayed fixed on the beautiful night view outside.

The conversation they had been having was suddenly interrupted, and Alexander didn’t know how to start it again, so he concentrated on driving to ease the awkwardness in his heart.

Isla, however, didn’t feel awkward. She glanced at Alexander driving, then sat properly in her seat, eyes staring straight ahead, her mind occupied with the events of the day.

The hospital where Benjamin Shaw stayed wasn’t far from the Turner Family’s residence; it took about ten minutes for the car to stop in front of the Turner Family’s gate.

"Uncle! Auntie! Goodbye!"

As soon as the car stopped, Alice immediately waved goodbye to the two in the front, opened the car door, and got out.

Previously, she might have invited the two of them inside for a cup of tea before they left, but today she didn’t even have that thought. She felt awkward, and she believed her family wouldn’t feel awkward, but the two of them would probably feel extremely awkward.

Alexander rolled down the car window and nodded at Alice.

Knowing that Benjamin had suffered a concussion from the fall, Isla held a grudge against Alice. She merely turned her head to glance at Alice getting out of the car, without any gesture, which was a first since they knew each other.

Alice knew Isla blamed her for pushing Benjamin, causing his hospitalization. She didn’t mind Isla’s attitude and bent down outside the car to wave at the two inside. After saying goodbye once more, she turned and walked into the yard.

Once inside, Alice tried not to look back. After taking a few steps, she heard the car outside turning around and leaving.

She turned and looked back outside the yard. Only after confirming that the car had left did she finally relax.

Phew!

Alice let out a long sigh to ease her taut nerves before heading towards the house.

Just as she was approaching the door, she suddenly remembered about hanging up on Thomas Fisher earlier. She stopped in her tracks and quickly took out the phone from her pocket.

Without delay, Alice called Thomas, but the line connected without him answering. Her brows suddenly furrowed.

Could he be angry? Impossible, right?

It’s not like she purposely hung up on him; it was really a special situation just now.

Even after the system automatically ended the call, there was still no sound from Thomas. Alice didn’t give up and dialed his number again, but the outcome was still the same — he didn’t pick up.

She called several more times, but the results were just like the first time.
