Kai Bright stared at his now darkened phone, frowning.

Indeed, how could he have been so worried about his parents meeting Lucy’s family and forgotten such an important thing?

His parents have been busy with the company abroad and couldn’t possibly know about his relationship from him. Someone must be pulling strings behind the scenes.

He had lost his vigilance because of the relationship, damn it!

"It’s easier to see things clearly from the outside." Charles Seymour’s reply came quickly, "I don’t need to maintain a peak state, even if there are oversights, Sophie will fill the gaps for me."

Kai Bright held his phone, rolling his eyes. Showing off their love even through a text at night, can we still be friends like this?

Yes, yes, Charles Seymour is impressive, and finding Sophie is impressive too. They’re both impressive, alright?

His Lucy is gentle and lovely, and that’s what he likes. Sophie’s scheming nature can be left for Charles to enjoy. Average people can’t handle someone like Sophie.

"There shouldn’t be any mistakes with our proposal now, right?" Sophie Wilson asked Edward Palmer and Lucy Wells. They had checked the data in the proposal multiple times already. It was the most reasonable, and the limit where they could still make a profit.

Any lower, and there wouldn’t be much to gain.

But if they win the bid, the benefits in the future would be immense and long-lasting, so they’ve already ceded some profit.

"I think it’s good." Edward Palmer said and looked at Lucy Wells, who also nodded.

After Edward Palmer finished organizing his things and left Sophie Wilson’s office, Sophie called after Lucy Wells: "Lucy, you don’t seem quite well. Did something happen?"

"Hmm..." Lucy Wells bit her lip, speaking uneasily, "Kai said his parents are coming back to the country and want both families to meet."

"Uh?" Sophie Wilson hadn’t expected this, "Isn’t this a bit fast?"

Her brother and Lucy haven’t been dating for very long; it’s not time for both sets of parents to meet yet. Meeting individually is fine, but this looks like her aunt and uncle are disagreeing with Lucy.

"What did my brother say?" Sophie Wilson, also unsure, asked.

"He said it’s just a family meal, no big deal." Lucy Wells replied.
