Rebirth: Clinging to My Possessive Magnate
Chapter 936: I’m Sorry
Kai Bright looked at his mother speechlessly: "Mom, the way you’re promoting your son, it’s like I’m some unsellable product."
"You think you’re not? Lucy willing to take you off our hands makes your dad and me feel relieved." Mother Bright teased with a smile, "Take care of Lucy from now on. If he ever misbehaves, just hit him. If you can’t beat him, call me. His dad and I will sort him out."
Lucy Wells blushed and smiled shyly: "Kai is really good."
"Look, even before anything’s happened, she’s already defending him." Mother Bright laughed, telling Emma Wells and Old Mrs. Wells, "In the future, if you have anything, just let him do it. He’s tall and strong, not skilled at anything else, but he’s got strength. Don’t let it go to waste!"
Emma Wells and Old Mrs. Wells were amused by her words. Even though it was the first meeting between the two families, Mother Bright’s straightforwardness made them feel like old friends, getting along like one big family.
Mother Bright asked Kai Bright to first send Lucy Wells and her family home, while she went back home with Father Bright.
When Kai Bright got home and saw his parents sitting in the living room looking serious, he couldn’t help but laugh and asked, "What’s going on? Why so serious? Like a courtroom trial."
Mother Bright kept a straight face, tapping the coffee table, warning the casually seated Kai Bright, "Sit properly."
"Okay." Kai Bright had to sit up straight again, though his attitude was still habitually playful.
"Lucy is a good girl." Mother Bright began, "Are you sure you want to marry her?"
"Mom, are you okay? You were the one who decided we’d get married when we met today, and now you’re asking this. I take relationships seriously; how could I not marry her?" Kai Bright admitted that even if he didn’t want to, he inherited his parents’ decisiveness. He also wanted to settle down with Lucy as soon as possible.
"Can you really make Lucy happy? Is everything okay on your side?" Mother Bright’s words made Kai Bright chuckle and ask, "What side? I usually just mess around for fun. Why, are you worried I can’t settle down?"
"Even though I love to play around, I haven’t crossed any lines, you..." 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
"Don’t play dumb with me. You know what I’m talking about." Mother Bright slapped the coffee table, glaring at Kai Bright with an unusual seriousness in her eyes.
Kai Bright’s smile froze, and his gaze shifted across his parents’ faces.
His smile slowly returned, but it was completely different from the frivolous look of a spoiled brat before. Just a moment ago, he was still acting nonchalant, but now, even sitting up straight exuded an aura of strength and authority.
Father and Mother Bright looked at their son, who was now completely different, with no surprise in their eyes, as if they had expected it.
"Mom, Dad, when did you find out?" Kai Bright asked, his voice deep and resonant, immediately giving off a sense of reliability.
"We suspected for a long time." Mother Bright sighed softly, always hoping she was wrong, but... facts are facts.
Kai Bright’s lips pressed into a line: "I’m sorry."
He always thought he had hidden it well, never expecting he couldn’t hide it from his family.
"There’s nothing to be sorry about." Father Bright said, "You’re serving our country; we’re proud of you. The least we can do is not hold you back."
"You don’t need to tell us. Just say it when you can in the future."
