Chapter 1449: Royal Court Part 9

Xu Feng was never a righteous type. Although he insisted on repelling the Colossuses, that was mainly because his interests were being harmed.

His life and progress would be much easier without the Colossuses interference.

Moreover, Bardmon City was indeed a great strategic location to take hold of.

It was just a pity that the allure of Star Falls City was greater than the former.

And since his hands were full, he no longer bothered with the city until someone decided to be restless and wanted to mess with him: Razor Technology.

Or more specifically, that useless Young Master Edgar Sandoval. Just by relying on his background, he dared to treat everyone like dirt.

However, it was about time to give him a slap of reality.

He might not have a background, but his current state wasn’t something anyone could trample over without being heavily injured or dead.

While Xu Feng held such a thought, his vision blurred slightly. Before long, he found himself back in the courtroom, still standing.

The crowd didn’t react to anything either, almost as if he were present from the beginning.

’Tier 5 powerhouses are really fearsome.’ Xu Feng thought to himself. The power to manipulate and control time was unreal.

He took a glance at the high seats and noticed barely anyone reacted much to it, with the exception of a few who were at Tier 4.

They probably sensed something, but nobody was foolish enough to speak aloud.

"Defendant Lin Feng, as you failed to provide sufficient evidence of your innocence, the court cannot allow you to be freed. But simultaneously, some of the evidence presented to incriminate you is also inadequate." Olivia solemnly said.

She paused for a brief moment, her eyes gazing at the high seats momentarily.

No words were spoken, but those people understood what her intention was.

They had better shut up and accept whatever her verdict was; otherwise, they would have to answer her wrath.

Sure enough, the next words coming out of Olivia’s mouth nearly caused them to go into a frenzy.

"Since neither side has sufficient evidence, I hereby decree that Viscount Lin Feng is to prove his innocence through actual combat. He is to be deployed to Bardmon City and repel the Colossuses’ invasion over there. If he is to succeed, all accusations shall be nullified. And if he is to fail, then he shall be hunted down and executed regardless of whether he tried his best or not."

To summarize the verdict, the court proposed that Xu Feng either died in battle or braved through the battlefield to earn a name for himself.

After all, as long as he succeeded in repelling and earning a good amount of contributions, nobody would dare to complain about him anymore.

The crowd didn’t dare to interrupt either, especially when some of those who had been planted there failed to see the signal to cause a commotion.

The nobles seated in the high place felt like the decision must have already been made in private. They weren’t ignorant of Olivia’s power and were certain that she had a private conversation with Xu Feng just now.

Although they wouldn’t know exactly how long they had spent talking, it was definitely enough for them to know the verdict was set in stone. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

Any more scenes and they might just earn themselves a label of mastermind.

Even Duke Marvin’s face was stoic the entire time, unable to be read by anyone in the scene.

’Interesting... the Colossuses had just told me that they planned on taking over Bardmon City, and now this Viscount Immortal is being deployed there. Is this a coincidence or a deliberate plan?’ Duke Marvin stared at Xu Feng.

He realized he could not read the youngster, no matter how much he tried.

Despite showing an audacious attitude from the start, Duke Marvin refused to believe someone like Xu Feng was truly that ignorant. To climb from a nobody to a Viscount, followed by his collective conduct, showed just how ambitious he was.

While Duke Marvin was left pondering, Xu Feng finally spoke up.

"I accept the verdict, Judge Olivia." He bowed and readily accepted the deployment.

Olivia nodded in agreement, her head subtly shifted to the crowd and others involved in the courtroom.

Even though it was a courtroom, the whole procedure could be simplified as Olivia’s one-person show.

There were no prosecutors, defense attorneys, witnesses, or jurors. It was only Olivia, accompanied by two elders who had remained silent throughout the ordeal.

And since Olivia had made the verdict, the other two elders didn’t voice any opinions, solidifying their respect for the decision.

In such a case, Olivia grabbed the gavel and hammered down.

"This case shall be closed until further results." She announced and stood up.

Shortly after Olivia exited the courtroom, the atmosphere descended into chaos.

"What the hell was that?"

"There was nothing presented or said!"

"Was there really insufficient evidence or..." One of the spectators suddenly shut their mouth before completing their sentence. They were close to saying Olivia might be in collusion with Colossus, but saying so, even if it was just a joke, was tantamount to treason.

After all, Olivia’s status and reputation were not something one could casually smear and joke about.

Needless to say, nobody blamed them, nor did they get the chance to hear exactly his thoughts.

"You really are something else." Jessica got up from her seat and approached him with a look of disbelief. She may not know what happened, but she was certain that Xu Feng definitely had a chat with Judge Olivia.

"What can I say?" Xu Feng shrugged and smiled lightly at her.

"I’m just someone who’s trying to prove his innocence now."

"Oh, really? And your deployment just so happened to be in a city that started the first accusation against you?"

As the receptionist of an Adventure Guild, she naturally had contacts with other receptionists working in other Adventure Guilds. From what she learned, the Immortals from Bardmon City were the ones who raised their accusation.

Toward Jessica’s suspicion, Xu Feng neither confirmed nor denied it.

"I believe some cities are going to fall soon." He gave a cryptic response, implying that the people he sent to do the hit list might have succeeded already.
