Chapter 664: Chapter 664: Is That It?

Point-of-View: Jaden Xeno

"Alright, you ready?" I inquired, cracking my knuckles as I peered over the rooftop I was on with the person I’d been paired up with, dozens of Knights below.

"Yes, I suppose so," Nodded Deilelne in response, stretching her arms out.

Ariella, Cleo, Ciel and I had each been paired up with one of the Demon Generals. I paired with Deilelne, and we were in the south section of the city, right amidst the chaos. Doesn’t seem like the Knights have noticed us yet, though.

"I’ll kick things off, if that’s cool with you," I remarked quietly, taking my shirt off.

"Uh...why are you undressing?" She responded in bemisement, her eyes skimming across my torso.

"Convenience, I need my back uncovered for the Spirit Fusion I want to go with," I replied, before adding wryly, "You don’t have to stare so intently, you know. I mean, I’m flattered, but-..."

"I-I was not staring!" She protested defensively, before tensing as several Knights turned their attention towards this building.

"Hey, someone’s up there!"

"It must be those rebels!"

"Well, so much for the element of surprise. But I guess it doesn’t really matter, does it?" I mused, before chanting as I stood up, "[Spirit Fusion, Sun Lizard: Star]!" 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶

Glowing, light yellow scales formed over my entire body, my eyes taking on a similar, lighter hue and glowing as well. A long, thin tail extended out, the appendage highly flexible. I glanced back as the scales forming on my back turned translucent and actively began absorbing the sunlight.

I then formed a telekinetic wall as a barrage of Elemental Magic attacks came shooting up towards us, the attacks colliding against my defense and erupting upon impact.

A low, pulsing hum began ringing out as I charged up solar energy in my hands, before whipping my arms across as I fired out a pair of rapid rays of heat, which sliced through the bodies of several Knights before they could react.

"Impressive. My turn, [Spirit Fusion, Tempest Falcon: Breeze]," Chanted Deilelne, a burst of wind erupting around her as brown and green feathers formed across her wings.

Her mouth and nose extended forward, narrowing and taking the shape of a beak. Her hands and fingers morphed into talons, her pupils narrowing as more feathers sprouted along the length of her tail.

She flew up and unleashed a devastating blast of wind down, cries of pain ringing out as several Knights got blown away by her attack. She then swooped down towards one of the Knights, who fired out a crackling bolt of lightning at her.

She veered across to evade it, before triggering an intense burst of wind to launch herself towards the Knight. She swung her talons across, slashing the top of his head and splitting his skull open, killing him.

I then turned around as a couple of Knights sprang up onto the rooftop from behind me, one of them using Spirit Fusion. Looks like a reptile Spirit, probably no higher than A-Rank though, based on what my instincts are telling me.

As the other Knight shot towards me with a roar, forming a spear of ice in his hands, I unleashed a devastating, repelling burst of pushing telekinetic force. He came to an abrupt halt and raised his spear up in alarm, my attack snapping his weapon in half instantly upon impact, before colliding against his chest and caving his ribs in.

He coughed out blood with an agonized wheeze as he got blasted off the rooftop and plummeted back down, right as the other Knight shot towards me with lightning crackling around his arms.

I sprang up as he lunged at me and tried to grab me, leaping over him. I sent one of my whips zipping down, coiling around his neck and sharply constricting, eliciting a choked gasp from him as I pulled him off his feet.

He began to try and slash at me with his claws as I lifted him up, but I was out of his reach. He gritted his teeth as his face began to turn purple, his eyelids fluttering as he started to charge up a blast of lightning.

I swiftly fired out a piercing solar beam, shooting through the top of his head and bursting out of his chin. His arms slumped to his sides as my attack killed him instantly. I uncoiled my whip and let him drop, the corpse thudding against the top of the rooftop.

I then flew across the air, firing out a barrage of telekinetic and solar blasts, wiping out the rest of the Knights in this area. A fierce eruption of wind suddenly burst out a few meters away, right as a Knight came hurtling through the air like a ragdoll, before crashing onto the side of a nearby impact with a fatal impact, his neck snapping like a twig as he slammed onto the building headfirst.

I glanced across as Deilelne picked up a couple more Knights and flew up, her talons digging into the back of their heads as they struggled in vain. She then began spinning around rapidly, gusts of wind erupting and intensifying around her as she generated immense force.

Suddenly, a couple of bodies came shooting out of the tornado, their spines snapped in half from the whiplash. Alarmed, panicked cries rang out as a few more Knights got dragged into the tornado, unable to resist the intense pulling force.

I zipped around and continued my attack, targeting the few remaining Knights in the area. A lot of them are starting to run away, they’re scattered all over the place. But they’re too slow, they won’t get away.

I fired out piercing bursts of telekinesis and solar energy, targeting and taking down the stragglers as quickly and efficiently as possible. Several bodies collapsed around the area as I landed successive headshots, piercing their brains and killing them.

Before much longer, there weren’t any left, nothing but piles of corpses scattered around the area. As I retracted Spirit Fusion, I glanced towards Deilelne as she descended and landed beside me, reverting to her normal form too.

"Is that it? I thought this would be a lot more difficult," She frowned, a perplexed look on her face.

"Yeah, looks like the Knights weren’t evenly spread out. Hm, this area looks a bit more rundown, I’m guessing few to no Nobles live here. Which would make it a low priority for the Knights, there are probably more in the other areas," I surmised, as I looked around.

"Hm, should we head to one of the other locations, then?"

"We could, but...I seriously doubt any of the others need help. By the time we get there, they’ll probably have wrapped things up on their end. But I suppose we might as well head over, just in case I’m wrong," I mused thoughtfully.
