Chapter 1720: Overlord’s Might

For lesser beings, being caught on an overlord’s battlefield was an extremely tragic fate.

An overlord’s might was so overwhelming that even a stray ripple of its energy could deliver a devastating blow to lesser creatures.

Because of an overlord’s extraordinarily high life level, even ordinary Rank Four and Rank Five beings are reduced to mere lesser creatures by comparison.

When the Gallant Federation’s apocalyptical weapons locked onto him, Sein had just begun collecting the Rank Six Apocalypse World creature’s remains.

Time was short. He had not been able to gather every part of it.

Large pieces of the creature’s flesh were likely still scattered across the battlefield, and even a segment of its light blade might still be lying forgotten somewhere.

Who knew which fortunate soul might ultimately profit from those unclaimed spoils?

In any case, Sein had no time to worry about such things. Once targeted by the federation’s apocalyptical weapons, his only priority was survival.

The command issued by Moraia of the Rosen Dynasty Civilization sounded like heavenly music to the ears of Magus Civilization powerhouses such as Sein.

As a result, this alliance overlord instantly left a much better impression on Sein and his comrades.

Moraia’s overlord-level psychic force helped prematurely detonate or intercept several of the strikes launched by the federal fleet.

Even so, many attacks still made it through and reached the vicinity of Sein and his companions.

Still, with Moraia’s intervention, their chances of escaping at full speed rose noticeably.

The first attack, the Gravitational Collapse Beam, was a black beam fired from the underside of an overlord-class federal warship.

Any area engulfed by the beam collapsed violently toward its point of origin, tearing space apart with ease.

This weapon was clearly aimed at Fermera.

The second attack, the Solid Particle Vibration Waves, was also launched from the same overlord-class warship, originating from a structure atop the ship that resembled a massive pot lid crowned with an antenna.

These vibration waves directly induced oscillation and fragmentation in the most fundamental particles within living bodies, making the weapon particularly effective against large, heavily built targets.

This strike was aimed at the God of Decay.

The Bosonic Force Field was an area-of-effect attack.

Rather than being fired by a single vessel, it was sustained by dozens of special ships within an overlord-class war fleet, projecting a cone-shaped zone of devastating thermoelectric blast damage.

Its effective range was shorter than that of other apocalyptical weapons, but it was perfectly suited to the central battlefield before them.

The attack was aimed at Sein—or rather, at him and the vast Magus Civilization legions around him.

Within its coverage area were not only the Decaying World legions, but also reinforcements from the Rosen Dynasty Civilization that had not yet withdrawn far enough.

The sudden convergence of three apocalyptical strikes was catastrophic for any living being caught within them.

As the crisis struck, Sein instantly activated the full power of his lawful body and retreated to the rear.

At this moment, all Rank Six Magus Civilization entities were concentrated on the frontlines, and the Gallant Federation’s overlord-class fleet group was clearly targeting the foremost battle sector.

In this critical moment, Sein could not spare a moment to judge where the federal fleet was focusing its fire.

He only sensed instinctively that the rear was under less intense fire. At the same time, the Faceless Mask also rapidly mapped out an escape route for him.

Without hesitation, Sein acted.

Violent fluctuations of laws surged from every direction, and a deep, indistinct discomfort welled up within his body, making him feel like a fragile boat tossed about in a raging storm.

Within a vast sea of greenish-yellow light, the demonic silhouette of Sein’s form grew smaller and smaller as he withdrew. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

With the arrival of overlord-level entities from both civilizations, the conflict on the central battlefield temporarily came to an end for Sein and those like him.

A keen sense of danger, a decisive retreat, and the overlord-level psychic’s intervention allowed a few law-wielding powerhouses, including Sein, to escape successfully.

Others were not so fortunate.

Among the fallen were slower-reacting foreign alliance deities, Magus Civilization powehouses who had pushed too aggressively into the frontlines, and... the mightiest being of Arid Expanse World, Seiron, who had only recently defected to the Magus Alliance, along with his entire legion.

Seiron was annihilated by five successive waves of apocalyptical assault unleashed by the Gallant Federation’s overlord-class fleet.

Already on his last legs and standing so close to the frontlines, he had almost no chance of surviving such a brutal assault.

Moraia shielded Sein and the others and protected Feylis from the apocalyptical strikes. Seiron and the Arid Expanse World creatures, however, were left to their fate.

Who was he? And what even was this Arid Expanse World?

Moraia had never heard of him, nor did she feel the slightest emotion for an alien legion that had defected only to be annihilated moments later.

Not only was the Arid Expanse World legion wiped out, but the world-class Wasteland Armor that Seiron wore was also destroyed in the assault.

There were rumors that the Magus Civilization later retrieved the broken fragments of the Wasteland Armor from the battlefield, though whether that was true remained unknown.

Sein and the other law-wielding beings, relying on their own abilities and overlord-level support, narrowly escaped with their lives.

The tens of millions of lower-tier Magus Civilization legions on the central battlefield were not so fortunate. They suffered devastating losses.

An overlord’s might could erase billions of lives with ease—this was no exaggeration.

The Gallant Federation’s fleet and mobile suit legions fared no better.

Moraia was no passive observer. In fact, she was pretty short-tempered.

As the Gallant Federation’s apocalyptical weapons rained down indiscriminate destruction on the Magus Civilization legions, Moraia responded in kind, unleashing her own overlord-level psychic force to “purge” the federation’s lower-tier formations.

Wherever those psychic force beams struck, countless federal warships and mobile suits fell from the sky.

Various intelligent weapon systems and robots on the ground simultaneously went dark.

In terms of immediate impact, this devastation was even greater than that caused by a forbidden spell.

That said, both the federation’s apocalyptical weapons and Moraia’s overlord-level power inflicted collateral damage on their own lower-tier legions as well.

This was unavoidable, especially with both sides’ frontline legions locked in chaotic, close-quarters combat at the time.

Rank Seven power was simply too overwhelming. Even a graze meant certain death or crippling injury.
