Sovereign of the Ashes
Chapter 1754: Exceptional Performance
The situation unfolded exactly as anticipated.
When the vanguard legions of the Magus Civilization, led by Sein and his forces, launched their assault on the opposing legions in the Shadowbat Civilization’s star domain, they quickly achieved widespread breakthroughs and secured significant gains.
The legions of Arid Expanse World had no desire to continue fighting on behalf of the Gallant Federation.
While the federation could rely on special technological methods to control the law-wielding powerhouses from Arid Expanse World, it could not possibly subjugate all the low-tier cannon fodder in the same way.
On any battlefield, the overwhelming majority were still low-ranking creatures.
Once those lower-tier legions began to collapse en masse, the influence a few remaining law-wielding beings could exert became extremely limited.
Even a powerful Rank Four creature would never dare face the concentrated elemental barrage of ten thousand mages fighting in formation alone.
After all, high-ranking and low-ranking forces were meant to work together.
By the time they arrived at the Shadowbat Civilization battlefield, the Divine Tower of Ashes’ registered war mages had finally surpassed twenty thousand.
As a Rank Five powerhouse, Sein could now clearly feel the amplified elemental resonance and augmentative power provided by the lower-tier mage legions under his command on the battlefield.
Had it still been only a few thousand mages, the boost would have been too trivial for Sein to care about.
But with twenty thousand full-fledged mages supporting him, Sein distinctly sensed that the destructive power of every spell he cast increased by roughly two percent. The rate at which mana replenished within him also rose noticeably compared to before.
Though two percent might seem modest, elemental spellcasting was extremely precise. Without altering the spell models themselves, direct enhancements were next to impossible.
Moreover, this increase applied to every spell and every strike Sein unleashed, making it an exceptionally valuable boost.
Grandmaster Feylis’ Divine Tower of Verdant Flame alone boasted more than one hundred thousand registered war mages.
Naturally, the boost she received from her lower-tier legions on the battlefield was far greater.
Sein’s legions swept across the Shadowbat Civilization star domain battlefield with unstoppable momentum.
Some federal garrison legions still mounted fierce resistance against the Magus Civilization’s advance.
A handful of fleet groups and giant mobile suits—each possessing combat power rivaling Rank Four or even Rank Five—remained active on the frontlines, deliberately targeting the Magus Civilization’s high-ranking powerhouses.
Yet these elite federation forces paled in comparison to the sheer number of powerhouses the Magus Civilization had committed to this battlefield!
From a two-to-one advantage, to three-to-one, and eventually five-to-one!
When five fought against one, what resistance could the Gallant Federation possibly offer?
Sein even suspected that the federal legions stranded on the Shadowbat Star Domain front were no different from those that had served as the rear guard on the subspace battlefield.
Their purpose was the same—to hold out as long as possible and buy time for the rear lines to stabilize and reorganize.
The legion led by Sein performed exceptionally well on the Shadowbat Civilization battlefield.
Not only was Sein himself a terrifying presence, but the eight-winged angel robot under his command also revealed the full might of her legion during this battle!
After a period of refinement, all eight hundred thousand angel robots had been fully modified by Sein’s Magic Cube and endowed with genuine self-awareness.
These angels were personally commanded by Fermera, the most powerful of their kind.
The energy consumed in refining and transforming such a massive force drained the cube’s reserves so severely that Sein had recently been forced to suspend several rounds of trade with the Rosen Dynasty Civilization, drawing a fair amount of quiet dissatisfaction from the other party.
The battlefield results, however, proved that Sein’s investment in these angels had been entirely worthwhile.
Although Sein knew little about the true combat strength of the legendary Radiant Celestials, the battlefield performance of these angel robots after deploying their Angelic Battle Formation was nothing short of amazing!
Granted intelligence, these angel robots fought with far greater flexibility and adaptability than ordinary robots.
More importantly, they also displayed extraordinary coordination and mutual support on the battlefield.
Whenever an angel robot fell, its companions would immediately attempt to retrieve its “black box”, preserving the possibility of future resurrection.
Whether driven by the hope of revival or by an innate fearlessness, their combat performance far surpassed that of ordinary Magus Alliance creatures.
Even so, Sein’s forces still fell short of being the most outstanding Magus Civilization combat group on the Shadowbat Civilization battlefield.
That distinction belonged to the force led by Schalk, a Rank Six knight from the Ylli Knight Alliance.
Schalk’s combat legion was exceptionally elite, further reinforced by numerous Magus Alliance members attached to his command.
In addition, Schalk’s wife was a Rank Five Mage. This meant that his forces never lacked magical support on the field.
Yet what truly made Schalk stand out, and utterly shattered enemy morale, was the damaged world-class secret treasure he wore—the Wasteland Armor!
After Seiron’s fall, he left behind two world-class secret treasures—the Wasteland Armor and the Lightning Ax. Both had been swiftly recovered from the battlefield by the Magus Civilization.
Feylis once again proved herself to be a considerate Rank Six mage. While personally reaping enormous gains from the subspace battlefield, she did not forget to share the spoils with others.
Schalk and Harrison of the Desert Kingdom of Jehannah, who had jointly overseen the subspace battlefield alongside Feylis, each obtained a coveted treasure of their own.
Although the Wasteland Armor had suffered heavy damage, its foundational quality remained intact. Once returned to the Magus Civilization, it would likely be repairable by Sky City’s alchemy experts or the Magus Alliance’s top-tier craftsmith deities.
The Lightning Ax was in better condition. However, this technological world-class secret treasure contained extensive Gallant Federation suppression mechanisms—otherwise, Seiron would not have abandoned it.
Harrison, who claimed the Lightning Axe, would eventually need to find a way to completely remove the marks the federation had left on it. That task alone would require a substantial investment.
In fact, the cost might even exceed what Schalk would spend repairing the Wasteland Armor!
Even so, the Lightning Ax was perfectly suited to Harrison’s combat style.
Both Rank Six knights were thoroughly satisfied with their spoils of war.
This was what true war prizes looked like.
When Schalk appeared on the battlefield clad in the Wasteland Armor, the morale of Arid Expanse World’s remaining forces immediately collapsed!
No one could truly comprehend the stature Seiron once held within Arid Expanse World, or the heights he had reached in his lifetime.
But seeing his Wasteland Armor now worn by a Magus World powerhouse was enough to stun even a Rank Five Arid Expanse World creature under the Gallant Federation’s control at the edge of the battlefield.
That brief lapse was enough for a Rank Five knight of the Ylli Knight Alliance to decapitate it in a single strike and tear its body apart.
The vitality of law-wielding beings was so stubborn that only complete dismemberment could ensure their total destruction.
The collapse of the Arid Expanse World legions only hastened the Magus Civilization’s conquest of the entire Shadowbat Star Domain!
