The Broken Halo
Chapter 535: Meeting The Trio
Black Midnight never expected Simon to be able to teleport out of the hall.
First of all, he never saw Simon wearing a spatial artifact or bringing out a spatial artifact from his spatial ring.
If he did, he would have taken it from Simon a long time ago.
And that was a problem for Black Midnight.
Black Midnight trusted his senses and instincts a lot.
Since he didn’t see or sense any spatial artifact, that meant Simon had teleported on his own.
And that shocked Black Midnight to the core.
Why?
Because that should not be possible unless Simon had a spatial affinity.
Teleportation and manipulating space was an ability that was meant for Demon Kings.
Talented Demon Lords could also learn how to manipulate space and teleport, but the problem with this is that it usually required a shit ton of demonic energy.
Even if a Demon Lord was talented, most Demon Lords would only choose to manipulate space as a last resort because of how much energy it requires.
No matter how talented Simon was, Black Midnight did not believe that Simon somehow had the ability to manipulate space on his own... unless he had a spatial affinity.
And this was shocking because he and the other Grave Lords were present during Simon’s Coming of Age Rite.
Through his demonic energy, they saw no signs of him having a spatial affinity, only wind and fire.
They completely believed in their intuition, powers, and understanding. This was why they never asked for Simon’s affinities to be tested.
But their overconfidence and arrogance was coming back to bite them.
It was this arrogance and overconfidence that gave Simon the opportunity to shatter the artifact that suppressed his aura and the opportunity to get used to the space of the Shadowgrave Clan.
Unknowingly to Black Midnight, he had given Simon the time to escape.
Aside from all these, there was one more thing that truly bothered the Grave Lord.
As one of the Great Six Clans, the Shadowgrave Clan had arrays that prevented spatial teleportation in the clan. Unless one had the authority to spatially teleport, the array would prevent that from happening.
Such authority was usually given to the Grave Lords and other special members of the clan, not a slave.
So, how was Simon able to teleport inside the clan despite the array being active?
Unfortunately for the Grave Lord, he had no idea that Simon was a Demi-God with a rich battle experience in his past life and that inside his heart was a more terrifying and ancient being.
About a month ago, Simon had asked Lilith about the array preventing spatial teleportation, and after offering something in return, she transferred her knowledge of the array to his mind.
With the knowledge that Lilith transferred to him, his experience using spatial teleportation, and his absurd control of his internal energies, he was able to teleport out of the hall with ease.
The moment Simon’s vision changed, he found himself in a familiar room.
It was the headquarters of the Iron Fangs.
He glanced around, then his eyes landed on a group of demons and he could not help but frown.
"What are you guys doing here?" Simon asked while staring at Akaza, Sunless, and Sonya sitting at a table.
None of them answered because they were completely shocked seeing Simon.
"Am I drunk? Why am I seeing little kitty?" Sonya mumbled with a baffled tone.
She shifted her gaze to the cup in front of her, and she became even more baffled.
"But I only drank water, not alcohol. How could I be drunk?" She mumbled softly.
While Sonya was mumbling to herself, Sunless’ eyes flickered with a strange glint.
"You were able to escape? And..."
She looked at Simon from top to bottom.
"... You’re now an Archfiend. You broke through in prison?"
Simon glanced at Sonya and Sunless, then he completely ignored them and looked at Akaza with a frown.
"Why are they here? I specifically said only you should be here."
Akaza had a complicated expression hearing Simon’s words.
"I tried telling them but they didn’t want to leave. They said they wanted to find a way to help you."
Simon frowned.
"Help me?"
He looked at Sonya and Sunless, and his expression could not help but become strange.
Though it was touching and surprising that both of them wanted to help him and cared for him to such an extent, he didn’t have the time to start thinking about this.
A Demon Lord was on his tail.
"Let’s go Akaza. We have to leave as quickly as possible."
Simon approached Akaza whose expression became serious.
He was about to speak but Sonya was faster.
"Hey, little kitty. Where are you going? Do you know how worried we were? Why would you leave without even saying anything to us?"
The short demoness approached Simon and folded her arms while staring at him ’angrily’.
Simon indifferently looked at her.
"Thank you for worrying so much about me, but I have to leave... now."
Sonya and Sunless frowned behind their mask.
"Now that I think about it, how did you appear in this place? Aren’t you meant to be in prison? What happened, little kitty?"
Sonya fired off one question after another, causing Simon to groan in annoyance.
He wanted to completely ignore Sonya, but after training, dueling, and conversing with her for over two months, he knew how stubborn and persistent she could be.
If he didn’t give her an answer, she would prevent him from leaving.
She could be that annoying and persistent.
Simon could feel his instincts warning him of an incoming danger.
He looked at her.
"I want to leave the clan now and a Demon Lord is currently chasing after me. Sonya, I don’t have time for this. If you’re truly worried about me, you’ll let me go without wasting anymore of my time."
The eyes of Sonya, Sunless, and even Akaza could not help but widen in sheer disbelief.
Did Simon just say he wanted to leave the clan now?
And worst of all, did he just say that a Demon Lord is currently chasing after him?
What in the nine heavens was going on?
Simon ignored their stunned expressions. He approached Akaza, touched him, and was about to teleport both of them out of this place before Black Midnight arrived.
However, the ground suddenly rose beneath Simon’s feet and bound his ankles and feet.
Simon’s gaze became frigid cold and sharp, and a portion of his killing intent was released as he stared at Sonya.
Sonya calmly stared back at him, and her next words surprised Simon.
"Take me with you."
