THE GOD EATER
Chapter 525: Limit Of Humility.
He looked ready to do anything that Loki asks for, but Loki sneered and said to him, "Continue to pretend and be cocky all you want. Isn’t it because you think I can’t do anything to your Cave Heaven as long as you don’t summon it? We will see if this is true or not."
Instead of being cowed, the mind hunter sneered back at Loki as he folded his hands across his chest and said, "Let me see what you can do to me. I’m here. Do your worst."
"Just because you’re a divine being, you think you can bully me? Just want to see. When I return to my divine position, I will make you regret this."
At this point, he has had enough of Loki. He, too, has his self-respect and a threshold of humiliation that he can withstand. Loki has breached that threshold of humiliation, so he has decided to stop being humble.
Besides, it wasn’t as if being humble was going to help him much. He doubts that Loki would let him go simply because he begged a lot. Since his cards have already been exposed, he decided to stop groveling at Loki’s feet.
However, his heart was still full of fear for what Loki had planned for him. Loki’s words about breaching the safety of his Cave Heaven also made him uncertain and caused his heart to beat with trepidation.
His fear of what Loki was planning spiked when Loki’s eyes began to glow a pale green light. He stepped back in fear, but Loki stepped forward and grabbed him again.
Loki grabbed him by the neck as he had before. Then he pressed his other hand onto the mind hunter’s head.
Once the mind hunter’s head and his hand made contact, the power of the Hive Mind Metac poured into the mind hunter’s mind. The power of the Hive Mind Metac broke through all of the defenses in his mind and poured into his Cave Heaven.
The power that poured into the Cave Heaven was like a violent storm. It smashed into everything in its way and bulldozed its way into the deepest part of the mind hunter’s mind.
Something unexpected happened during this process. He received a notification on his token. He didn’t check the notification now because he was busy.
When the Hive Mind Metac was done, Loki released the mind hunter. The mind hunter regained his freedom, but he didn’t seem to care. His eyes were blank, and he was looking into the distance with an unfocused stare.
Loki didn’t need to ask the mind hunter anything to know if what he was trying to do was a success or not. He could tell at a glance if he had successfully gained control of the mind hunter because the mind hunter’s mind should be connected to the Hive Mind Metac if the process was successful.
From what he could tell, he came to some conclusions and said, "Just as I thought, it seems the Hive Mind Metac is not for gaining control, but for maintaining control. I must already have control of the target before incorporating it into the Hive Mind Metac."
"As it stands, if I try to use the Hive Mind Metac to force control of the mind of a target, there will be drastic consequences. I can only hope that the Cave Heaven will help him withstand the drastic consequences."
After speaking, he examined the current state of the mind of the mind hunter through the Hive Mind Metac. Through the examination, he could tell that he had successfully gained control of the mind of the target. But he could also tell that the process hadn’t been smooth.
While examining the mind of the mind hunter, he saw that his Cave Heaven had cracked and was on the verge of collapse. This state of mind was why the mind hunter now had a blank stare.
Not only was his Cave Heaven cracked, but his mind was also scrambled. So the mind hunter had become as stupid and clueless as a baby.
Loki wasn’t sure if this mental injury could be healed, but he was sure that the only reason the mind hunter was able to withstand the forceful annexation of his mind by the Hive Mind Metac and come out with only this much injury was that his mind was more durable than those of mortals.
At the end of the inspection, Loki shrugged and said, "In a way, I have succeeded with my objective. The mind hunter is now under my control."
"It only came at the cost of some lifespan on my part and all of his memories on his part. If you ask me, I think this price is worth it."
He chuckled as he said that last sentence. This was because the price that both parties paid and what they earned from their investments were vastly disproportionate.
He had paid some of his time and some of his lifespan. In exchange for all these, he gained control of the reincarnation of a divine being.
On the other side, the mind hunter had lost all of his memories and his identity. But the only thing he gained was that he lost his freedom.
Loki didn’t think losing one’s freedom should be considered a gain, which added another layer to his amusement. But the mind hunter was not amused. The mind hunter simply continued to stare blankly into space.
Loki saw this and decided not to keep the mind hunter waiting. So he made the mind hunter summon his Cave Heaven.
When the Cave Heaven appeared, Loki had its owner open a passage for him into the Cave Heaven. The mind hunter immediately created the passage without giving it a thought.
Loki stepped into the Cave Heaven as if he were entering his backyard. He examined the Cave Heaven with an appraising gaze as he walked through it. But he didn’t stop to see one thing. His destination was the core of the Cave Heaven.
