Chapter 783 - Farm 666 is Mine!

The owner of Farm 666 nervously guarded his land. Two raids in a row had cost him a massive amount of gold coins. Another raid would tank his chances at winning. That was unacceptable!

The Wealth God King, Zhao Zihong, had personally organized this competition. Winning meant a chance to foster that connection. The road ahead as a God would be rosy from there.

“I have to win this. Cuihua, once I do, I'll come home with the money and marry you,“ the farm owner murmured to himself.

Three days passed. The crops in Farm 666 grew quickly thanks to the continent's natural laws, and the long-cycle plants had taken root and were thriving. Three calm days also loosened the owner's nerves. He told himself the previous two incidents were coincidences, mere flukes.

With that self-reassurance, he headed back to his comfortable villa for a proper rest. Three days of standing guard had worn him out. As he was walking back, his loyal dog Wang Cai grabbed his trousers.

“Found something, Wang Cai?” he asked.

Turning back, he saw a gate had appeared in the center of his farmland. It was definitely unnatural!

He approached quietly and pushed open the gate to reveal a wall of flesh emitting a pungent odour. He reached out to touch the wet, pulsating surface. Something inside was clearly pushing hard to get through.

“An attack? Let me show you what you've walked into,” he muttered angrily, arming himself with a shovel before facing the fleshy wall.

Wang Cai readied itself beside him. The owner watched as the fleshy wall contracted, squeezing out a tiny shape. It was a rat pup. He stood there with visible confusion.

Before he could make sense of it, the walls undulated like a rippling wave, and an ocean of rat pups came flooding out, burying the owner and pushing him back over ten meters. Wang Cai was swallowed in the same tide. No matter how hard it fought, it couldn’t hold its ground against the sheer volume of rat babies.

On the other side of the gate, Han Wu moved the mother rat aside once she finished giving birth and stepped through into Farm 666. Gazing out at the ocean of rat pups, he estimated that there were over a hundred thousand this time. Every one of them immediately crawled around in search of food.

A perverse satisfaction filled Han Wu. Then, he abruptly noticed something oddly humanoid in the middle of the pup swarm. Had the mother rat cross-bred something?

As the owner wrenched himself out from the ocean of rat babies, he caught sight of Han Wu standing at the gate, and his rage boiled over.

“So it was you! You smashed my melons! I'll take you apart!“ he shouted, swinging his shovel at Han Wu.

Wang Cai, having also pulled itself out from the tide of squirming rat pups, lunged straight for Han Wu’s throat.

Even with his physical capabilities sealed, Han Wu was confident he could handle a fight with a person. A dog, however, was a different matter. So, he decisively retreated, hastily shutting the gate behind him.

Wang Cai was faster than even Han Wu had anticipated. It leaped forward and slipped through the gap just before the gate closed. The Fixed Gate shut with a heavy clang and vanished. The owner's shovel swung down onto empty air.

“My dog! Give me Wang Cai back!“ the owner roared.

The only response to his echoing cry was the cheerful squeaking of a hundred thousand rat pups happily eating everything in sight. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

At the same time, on Farm 444, a man and a dog faced each other. Wang Cai snarled, baring its teeth. Han Wu stood ready with an axe in one hand and a pickaxe in the other. There was no way he would allow himself to become dog food so easily.

Just then, the mother rat caught a whiff of Wang Cai and, finding the scent similar to her pups, instinctively extended one barrel-sized paw to rest gently on Wang Cai's head.

Han Wu watched the dog visibly shudder with a mix of terror and despair. Wang Cai probably never imagined that a rat could ever elicit such a reaction. Yet, as the mother rat softly patted the top of Wang Cai's head, it dared not move even a single muscle.

The mother rat was not all there mentally, but her maternal instincts were strong. She pulled Wang Cai closer and gave it a long lick. Wang Cai was completely soaked in her saliva. It trembled in the mother rat's gentle hold like a small toy and turned desperate pleading eyes toward Han Wu.

“Enjoy the attention. Nothing I can do here, bud.” Han Wu shrugged, contentedly turning back to his farming.

With a hundred thousand rat pups gnawing through Farm 666, it would likely fall within the day.

Han Wu stepped through the Fixed Gate into Farm 666 again after half a day to find the farm completely destroyed. Every edible crop had been chewed through, and the land had been thoroughly wrecked. A notice had been posted on the fence stating that the farm was being sold for a thousand gold coins.

The neighbors on either side had heard the owner's screams throughout the day and had guessed that a catastrophe had struck. Nobody wanted to risk buying up whatever had ruined Farm 666. That suited Han Wu perfectly. He paid the thousand gold coins and took over the farm.

Inside it were 100 fertile plots and over 160 ordinary ones. Doing honest farming in this farm for one month would undoubtedly make him the wealthiest contestant, and that wasn’t even counting Farm 444.

Even so, Han Wu had already decided on his plan of action from the start of the competition. He didn’t want to win by farming. His goal was to break every other contestant's will and drive them all out using his breeding operation.

If he were the only contestant left, he would naturally win by default!
