"What do you mean you found nothing?" Finnegan snarled at Gary from the technical department, his eyes flashing in anger.

The clock on his desk read 8:30 am. He was at least thirty minutes early today. The man who had blissfully kissed me last night, before seeing me off home, looked like his veins would pop like a balloon any minute soon with how tense his entire body was.

"We’ve run the diagnostic test twice, Boss, both times it comes back clean," Gary explained, scratching his head awkwardly. "The system is reading as fully functional."

"The system," Finnegan hissed from behind his desk, "is telling me that the Waybreaker vehicle project does not exist. A project my engineering team spent eight months building."

"So, either your diagnosis is wrong, or my computer has developed amnesia. And we both know it can’t fucking be the latter because that just proves the first one is right."

Gary glanced down at his pair of Jordans as if they would save him.

I pushed past the office door, strutting towards them both. "Good morning, Mr. Wolfe,"

His eyes softened when they met mine, and I got the flipping fuzzies in my belly. Gosh, he knew how to make a woman melt with those eyes.

"Come here,"

I hoped to God that Gary didn’t hear the husky note in his voice as I crossed to his side of the desk, stopping beside his chair.

His scent taunted me, curling around my nose while heat flooded my pussy just from being near him.

"Try searching for the Way Breaker project, Miss Kellerman,"

Leaning over, I heard him inhale and just knew he noticed my skirt hiking up slightly. It was a black leather fabric that molded to my ass like a second skin- and I hadn’t worn panties.

Yeah, I was feeling quite risky today.

I tapped on the keyboard rapidly, searching for the Way Breaker Project.

"No results found," The screen flashed with those words, and my brows snapped together in a frown.

"I logged those files in myself,"

"I know you did." Finnegan turned to Gary. "Which means your diagnosis is wrong."

Gary sighed, his shoulders dropping in despair. "I’ll pull the server logs manually. It’ll take a few hours."

"You have two hours," The broad, imposing man next to me bit out.

"Yes, boss," Garry bowed and scurried out.

I frowned at the screen, turning it over in my head. Files didn’t simply disappear, and Finn’s computer had been running fine without a glitch.

So, what exactly happened?

Finnegan’s hand found my waist, pulling me down. I dropped into his lap like a sack of potatoes, a secretive smile tugging at my lips when he grabbed my ass, groaning.

"Hey, sorry about that. The whole thing got on my nerves." His eyes dropped to my neck, and I tilted my head, showing him that the bruise was gone.

"You’re going to give yourself more grey hairs with all that worry," I teased, cupping his jaw, stroking his sharp edge.

"The system is bugged," he grumbled. "That’s the only explanation; I don’t know how the tech team can’t find the bug."

"I might know someone who can find it." I turned slightly in his lap to face him properly. "My best friend, Annette. She’s the best I’ve ever seen at this. If there’s a bug or something else, Anette can find this."

He pressed his lips together, mulling over it. I could almost see the wheels turning in his head, he was a very private man. Heck, even his private life was completely scrubbed off the internet, and when it came to company secrets, he guarded them jealously.

It was only fair that he would be skeptical about letting an outsider work on his system.

I reached up and threaded my fingers through his hair and leaned forward until my lips were close to his.

"She can be trusted," I murmured. "I promise."

"Okay, if you say so. I believe you," he rasped against my mouth, closing the gap between us, his lips moving over mine in slow, hungry strokes. We were both breathing heavily when we pulled away.

"How long do we have before our first meeting of the day?"

"At least an hour," I murmured, kissing his jaw.

"That’s more than enough. Bend over the desk," He ordered gruffly, pushing my skirt higher.

"Why? For a cunt inspection?" I smiled, rising off his lap.

"Yes," He hissed, shoving the skirt up completely, his fingers skimming over my bare, shamelessly wet pussy lips. "A deep and thorough cunt inspection."

"Ooh, you bad man."

Four hours later, I was in an empty elevator, going down to the ground floor to get Annette, my entire body humming with satisfaction. She had already texted that she was on her way.

The elevator dinged on the ground floor and the doors slid open. I strode out. The building was busy with the lunchtime crowd filtering in and out. Kate waved at me from the reception desk just as I stepped out of the elevator. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦

I raised my hand to wave back when a chill swept down my spine. A man walked past me into the elevator. He had a black trench coat on, a black face mask pulled high on his face, and a black baseball cap covering the rest of his face.

That was weird. I didn’t think I had ever seen him around before. No one in the company went through such great lengths to cover their face. I was fairly sure it was even against the company’s policy.

The doors were already sliding closed, and I threw my hand out, catching the gap between the doors just in time, and they slid back open.

The man’s head whipped up. I still couldn’t meet his gaze, but there was something so, so strikingly familiar about him.

"Excuse me," I called, taking a step back into the elevator, "Can I see your employee pass-"

"Mind your business," His hand shot out, and a startled scream left my throat. He shoved me, hard. I stumbled backward out of the elevator, my heels scraping on the lobby floor as I scrambled to my feet.

The doors closed before I could dash in.

"Security," I called, rushing towards the entrance door where the guards were.

"Security! There’s an intruder!"
