Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1377: Trevor Invites Her Out
The girl caught sight of the caller ID from the corner of her eye. It was Simon. He declined the call, but she didn’t say anything.
Her heart felt inexplicably warm, just like today’s sun.
On the sycamore path in early winter, as the wind blew, the remaining leaves on the branches fell in large swaths, like dancing butterflies. The scene was both bleak and soothing.
The warm sunlight dappled down selflessly upon them.
Ethan Dalton is a child. He doesn’t talk much, occasionally using the strength from both sides to lift his whole body up, and sometimes kicking the piles of leaves on the ground with his little feet.
He let his thoughts wander, carefree.
"Is it tiring to take care of kids?" Trevor started the conversation, turning his gaze to look at the girl.
"Not at all, I find kids quite fun and innocent," she replied with a bright smile. "Sometimes when you chat with Ethan for a while, you realize it’s a kind of spiritual cleansing."
Except for when Mia Lane sometimes takes him for a stroll, he doesn’t get the chance to go out, being confined in the hospital day in and day out.
So today, Ethan Dalton was especially happy!
Trevor took the opportunity to ask the girl beside him, "Are you busy lately?"
Janelle Mills turned to look at him, but he was focused ahead. Who was he asking? It couldn’t be Ethan, so she quickly snapped back, "Not busy, why?"
She was pleased and somewhat expectant; was he asking her out?
"I have a business trip to a nearby ancient town. My assistant has been quite occupied lately, so..." As he spoke, Trevor finally turned his gaze, "Could you accompany me?"
This request left her bewildered; why would he want her to accompany him?
Though she was more than willing.
Trevor also realized the abruptness, quickly explaining, "Because there’s a project there, and sometimes from a female perspective, you might offer me some insights."
This explanation left Janelle slightly disappointed, but she still responded, "Sure, when?"
"How about tomorrow?" Trevor hadn’t actually arranged everything yet. He did have an agenda for tomorrow, but since she agreed, he’d just adjust it.
He said, "I’ll pick you up downstairs at the hotel tomorrow, and we’ll take the high-speed train over."
"Alright."
Then, they continued in silence along the way.
Janelle felt today’s sunlight particularly warm, the corners of her lips couldn’t help but curl into a slight smile.
Trevor’s mood was calm, perhaps due to his slow-to-warm-up personality.
At this point, Carlotta Sterling, still at the hotel, hadn’t seen her daughter return. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. She really grew up and can’t be controlled anymore!
Because she didn’t need the auntie to come over and clean, the scattered roses at the entrance were still there, somewhat dry and withered from dehydration.
Those roses stung her eyes.
Then, the doorbell rang, pulling Carlotta out of her thoughts. She stood up to open the door, originally thinking her daughter had returned.
Unexpectedly, it was Nathan Mills again!
Just as she instinctively went to shut the door, the morning’s scene replayed: the man raised his large palm to block the sturdy door!
After a brief standoff, Carlotta simply let go, allowing Nathan to enter the room smoothly.
He carried a large bag towards the coffee table. "Are you planning to cultivate immortality? Not even going down to eat?"
The woman turned her gaze, slammed the door shut, and coldly stared at him. "You’ve got issues, don’t you? A married man planning to squat at the hotel every day and monitor my every move?"
"You’re the child’s mother, not someone else." He put down the bag and opened it, "Eat something first. Women being angry is a vicious cycle, easy to fall ill."
Carlotta was indeed hungry. As soon as those bowls were uncovered, the aroma of the dishes wafted, directly tempting her taste buds.
