Twin Treasures: The CEO Wife's 99-Day of Revelations
Chapter 1378: Mr. Mills’ Magnanimity and Attentiveness
But Carlotta didn’t give Nathan a good face; she still wore a stern expression, showing no sign of hunger, and even seemed quite disgusted, maintaining a particularly unwelcoming look as she eyed him.
As for Nathan, he appeared remarkably magnanimous, having long cast aside the morning’s unpleasantness.
Not wanting to escalate the tension, he uncovered all the bowls, arranged the chopsticks, and then stood up, "Carlotta, you’d better eat while it’s hot. I know you can’t eat when looking at me, so I’ll leave first."
His self-awareness made him rather endearing.
As soon as he finished speaking, Nathan gave her a gentle smile and headed out.
At the door, he bent down to pick up the scattered roses.
Carlotta didn’t look back, her heart seemingly still weighed down by the resentment and anger of the past twenty years!
It wasn’t until she heard the footsteps fading away and then the sound of the door closing that her chest tightened slightly, prompting her to glance around.
The room was already empty, and so was her heart.
Fragrant dishes filled the air; Carlotta returned to her senses, gazing a bit sadly at the various bowls on the coffee table. Each exquisite bowl contained different delicious dishes, all still steaming.
She sat down on the sofa, slowly picking up the chopsticks.
Hungry, truly hungry.
She picked up the bowl filled with rice, and for a moment, the stone-hard heart of Carlotta softened, genuinely surprised that he would still come over.
In fact, in Carlotta’s impression, Nathan has always been a meticulous good man.
Downstairs in the hotel, the grand lobby was ablaze with gold; as the gilded elevator doors opened, Nathan strode out with ease and elegance. He headed straight for the front desk, his steps lively, his handmade leather shoes spotless.
"Good day, Mr. Mills." The receptionist noticed him and quickly paused her work to greet him with a respectful smile.
"Call me when Miss returns." Nathan’s voice was deep, stopping before the desk with one hand in his pocket, the fingers of the other gently tapping on the counter, appearing in good spirits.
"Sure." The receptionist had an outstanding demeanor and appearance.
The middle-aged man thought for a moment, looking at her and saying, "Also, if Madam doesn’t come down to dinner, remember to call me again."
"Understood!" The girl smiled brightly.
Nathan smiled at her as well, "If the intelligence is collected properly these days, I’ll give you a bonus at the end of the year!" After speaking, he turned away.
"Thank you, boss!" Watching his tall figure, the receptionist’s heart was filled with delight!
The boss is really generous and very charming, even though his temples are already streaked with gray.
Indeed, the hotel’s behind-the-scenes owner is Nathan; Carlotta didn’t know, nor did Janelle, probably not even Trevor.
Back then, Simon booked this place simply because it was close to The Dalton Group.
Upstairs in a room of the hotel.
Carlotta didn’t care about her image; after all, she was alone, and the bowls before her were emptied one after another.
Celery stir-fried with shredded pork, sizzling cucumber rolls, peacock fish, garlic prawns—these were all her favorites, tasting as if it were years ago.
Nathan actually still remembered...
This detail warmed her heart, made her eyes swell, and her nose tingle.
Providence Hospital.
Janelle and Trevor walked out of the hall, the warm sunlight shining on them; they had just taken Ethan back to the hospital.
The little guy still needed an IV drip in the afternoon, and a teacher would come to give him one-on-one tutoring.
Before leaving, he asked expectantly, "Big sister Janelle, will you come again?"
Without waiting for the girl to answer, Trevor bent down to pat his little brother’s head, saying to him, "Tomorrow, your brother will take big sister Janelle to an ancient town; it’s part of work, so once we finish, we’ll come back to see you, okay?"
Ethan pouted, though reluctant and unsure how long they’d be gone, he ultimately nodded obediently, "Then I’ll wait for you here, you must come."
