The moment their eyes met, time seemed to stand still.

Janelle Mills habitually pressed her lips together, a gesture she used to hide her embarrassment.

Trevor also diverted his gaze, seriously checking her injury, "The swelling has reduced a lot."

"Yes." She saw it too, "This medicine is quite effective, and it really didn’t hurt this morning." She hoped he wouldn’t feel guilty and worried anymore.

"Then let’s apply it once more." Trevor glanced at her before continuing to apply the medicine, gently massaging with his fingertips to help it penetrate better.

Sometimes, he doesn’t seem like a high and mighty CEO; his heart isn’t as cold as his exterior.

Janelle Mills understood his thoughts at that moment and wisely suggested, "Shall we go down to take a look after breakfast?"

While massaging, Trevor glanced up at her.

She continued, "I’m quite worried too. Although I’m not familiar with Jocelyn, we’ve crossed paths before, and she’s a pretty girl. I like her a lot."

This is, loving because of love?

Hearing such words, Trevor was actually touched. His eyes softened, "Yes, let’s talk after breakfast."

He also knew that after a night without results, it was likely a tragic outcome.

Then the room fell into a brief silence, with a hint of sadness lingering in the air.

Trevor finished applying the medicine, lowered her leg, and put down her pant leg. Janelle Mills spoke again, "Thank you."

He glanced up at her but didn’t respond, picking up the medicine bottle and standing up.

Trevor washed his hands and came back, opening the breakfast bag to take out two portions, "The rice noodle rolls here are a specialty, come and try them."

As the lid was lifted, the aroma filled the air. Janelle Mills got up to take the chopsticks from his hand.

The two of them sat down on the sofa and ate the rice noodles together without much conversation.

Before long, Trevor’s phone rang. He quickly took it out to check.

It was a call from his subordinate. He immediately answered, "Hello, any updates?"

"Mr. Trevino, we haven’t found the person yet, but regarding last night’s search and what the police saw on the surveillance, I can tell you. Where are you? I’m downstairs at the inn you booked."

Trevor glanced at the girl beside him, thinking it wouldn’t be appropriate for a man to come up.

So he put down the rice noodle container and told his subordinate, "Wait for me downstairs, I’ll come right down."

After hanging up, he looked at the girl beside him again, ready to say something.

Janelle Mills met his gaze and softly asked, "Are you going down?"

"My subordinate is here to report some things. It’s inconvenient for him to come up. You stay here."

Trevor didn’t hurry to leave but patiently explained, "We’ll talk downstairs. When you finish breakfast, come find me. There’s a cafe to the right as you exit. You can call me, and I’ll pick you up."

"Go ahead and do your work. Don’t worry about me, no need to pick me up. I’m not a three-year-old," Janelle Mills said lightly, "But finish your breakfast first; it’s not a rush within a minute or two."

Trevor nodded, put down his phone, and picked up his breakfast box again.

She also quickly ate, but not as fast as him. Plus, girls always take a little extra time to get ready.

So Trevor decided to leave first, pulling the door open and turning back to her as he departed, saying, "Call me when you go downstairs. Be careful on the stairs; don’t sprain your foot again."

"Okay, you go ahead!" Janelle Mills said warmly, watching him leave and then seeing the door close.
