Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1774 - 1771: The Struggle (Part 2)
"Do you think you can avoid Lin Tian’s watchful eyes? Heh..." Xu Feibai chuckled softly, mocking Yasuo’s naivety.
"But Lin Tian seems so confident; has he thought of some plan? What should we do?" Yasuo’s eyes darted, cautiously asking.
Finding the Eye of the Creator was crucial for him to regain his peak powers, so he cared deeply about this gemstone.
"If he has a plan, all the better. We’ll follow him, at least to ensure the Eye of the Creator doesn’t fall into his hands; otherwise, I won’t be able to retrieve it. As long as it’s not him who gets it, we can discuss other matters." Xu Feibai said calmly, showing no urgency in finding the Eye of the Creator.
Yasuo quickly lowered his head, a mysterious smile in his eyes, but he remained respectful outwardly: "Master, you are wise."
"Keep your insincere words to yourself," Xu Feibai suddenly turned and looked at Yasuo, a cold light flashing in his eyes.
Frightened, Yasuo bowed his head even lower, not daring to speak. Even though there were many people around, Yasuo still felt isolated and helpless; if Xu Feibai wished, he could kill him at any time. His only hope was to acquire the Eye of the Creator, which would give him a chance to turn the tables.
In another inconspicuous corner, Heichuan Jianyi looked down at a gemstone, but his peripheral vision was fixed on Lin Tian.
"Master, there’s another one over there." Charlotte pointed in Heichuan Jianyi’s direction, her red lips moved slightly, whispering in Lin Tian’s ear.
"Ignore him. Once I find the Eye of the Creator, if that Heichuan dares any tricks, I’ll feed him to the sharks in the sea," Lin Tian said coldly, showing no compassion for the unprofessional Mr. Heichuan.
Hearing Lin Tian’s words full of murderous intent, Charlotte laughed, then stood up straight and said seriously: "Mr. Lin, there seem to be fewer people around the Old Earl, would you like to inquire?"
Lin Tian turned to look and indeed saw the Old Earl had moved to the lounge area, accompanied only by his people, Ou Qinglan, and Miss.
"Let’s go." Lin Tian didn’t hesitate, signaling to Charlotte with his eyes before walking straight over.
As soon as the two entered the lounge area, Miss and Ou Qinglan noticed them. Ou Qinglan was merely curious about Lin Tian’s relationship with Charlotte, whereas Miss looked a bit strange, neither quite angry nor jealous.
As Lin Tian and Charlotte continued to approach, the Old Earl’s entourage noticed them, and two tall men in suits stood up, ready to block their path.
Naturally, the Old Earl would travel with bodyguards, and every guest wishing to approach him had to pass through them first.
However, this time, just as the guards stood up, the Old Earl also stood and quickly waved them back, signaling them to remain calm. Ou Qinglan and Miss found this strange. Could the Old Earl and Lin Tian actually be acquaintances? He even got up to greet him in person.
Lin Tian was also puzzled, but then thought of Charlotte beside him. Charlotte, with her hidden identity as a Blood Prince and overt position as the head of Bale Bank, held an extraordinary status likely making her a high-tier figure in England’s high society.
"Sir Charlotte, I’ve long heard of your coming; I didn’t expect to meet you today." Indeed, the Old Earl initiated the conversation, greeting Charlotte first.
This proactive attitude astonished Ou Qinglan and Miss even more, especially noticing the Old Earl’s address for Charlotte.
The title "Sir" indicated that Charlotte also held a noble title, just like the Old Earl, but the exact rank of the title was unknown.
"Count Carlos, long time no see," Charlotte said elegantly, her tone and demeanor full of nobility, utterly different from the coquettish manner she had when teasing Lin Tian, causing Lin Tian to marvel at which was her true self.
"I’ve heard that at the last international jewelry exhibition, Sir Charlotte acquired the first Eye of the Creator. Are you here this time for the same gemstone?" The Old Earl got straight to the point, directly mentioning the Eye of the Creator.
Lin Tian knew about this, but Miss and Ou Qinglan were unaware, so both were quite surprised.
Charlotte smiled slightly: "If I knew the second Eye of the Creator was with Count Carlos, I wouldn’t have troubled myself searching but rather, would have bought it directly from you."
The Old Earl waved his hand, shaking his head: "Please understand, Sir Charlotte, since I’ve agreed to donate it initially, I won’t sell it to anyone. At least, some basic integrity is necessary."
"My visit isn’t to trouble Count Carlos, but my friend here, Mr. Lin, wishes to ask a question. I hope Count Carlos can answer it forthrightly." Charlotte remained unfazed, introducing Lin Tian into the conversation.
The Old Earl was momentarily taken aback, turning his gaze to Lin Tian, surprised that Charlotte knew such a young man, and also seemed to hold him in some respect.
"What would you like to ask, sir?" The Old Earl didn’t dwell on it and asked directly.
In fact, Xiao Manxue also wondered what Lin Tian would ask to glean useful information.
"I want to ask, what mode of transport did Count Carlos use to come to Huaxia?" Lin Tian didn’t keep people waiting long, voicing his question promptly.
The crowd was momentarily stunned by this, wondering, what kind of question was this? It seemed like a waste of a valuable opportunity to ask.
The Old Earl also shook his head, amused, and asked: "Are you sure you don’t want to change your question, Mr. Lin?"
"No change needed; please answer, Count Carlos." Lin Tian asserted confidently, leaving the others puzzled once again.
The Old Earl silently shook his head again, finding Lin Tian rather disappointing, but remained patient due to Charlotte’s presence: "I first flew to meet an old friend, then took a boat to an island. Does this answer satisfy Mr. Lin?"
"Oh, and don’t find it strange why I didn’t fly directly to Zhonghai City and instead took a boat to the island. My ancestors were navigators, and although I cannot inherit such adventurous spirits, it’s a chance to experience the sea’s unpredictability, as a tribute to the forefathers." The Old Earl said earnestly.
"Count, your actions are admirable. I’ve finished my question, thank you," Lin Tian nodded slightly in appreciation, then turned to leave, with Charlotte following suit.
Miss whispered a few words in Ou Qinglan’s ear, then also excused herself and went after Lin Tian.
"Lin Tian, although I don’t know why you need the Eye of the Creator, your question was too simple, even I know the Old Earl traveled by boat to the island. You could have asked me instead," Miss said in a lowered voice.
Lin Tian looked around, seeing people coming and going; it wasn’t a convenient place to talk. He raised his hand, holding Miss’s hand, and led her to a less crowded corner. Miss resisted slightly, but soon gave in, her cheeks blushing as Lin Tian held her hand in public.
