Zombie Bodyguard
Chapter 1775 - 1772: Contest (Part 2)
Charlotte didn’t follow along, leaving only Lin Tian and the Miss in the corner of the exhibit hall. Before she could speak, Lin Tian said, "I really have something to ask you."
"You... let go of my hand first before asking." The Miss realized Lin Tian was still holding her hand and glared at him fiercely.
"Hehe..." Lin Tian chuckled dryly twice. The smooth and soft feel of her hand made him forget to let go. He chuckled and asked, "What ship did Count Carlos use to land on the island?"
Xiao Manxue gave him a curious glance and said, "Of course, a yacht. The old earl’s family has businesses in Huaxia and other Asian countries and owns a yacht. Wait, do you mean...?"
"You overthink it." Lin Tian quickly denied it, laughing, "How could I search his yacht? Even if the old earl allowed it, I wouldn’t find anything in such an obvious place. The Eye of the Creator wouldn’t be there."
"Then what do you want to do?" Xiao Manxue was puzzled by Lin Tian, unable to figure out his intentions.
"Tell me the name and IMO number of the yacht," Lin Tian made his request.
The IMO number is a code assigned by the International Maritime Organization, a sort of identification number each ship receives upon registration, akin to a human ID card.
"I’ll have to check that, please wait a moment." Xiao Manxue took out her phone, checked it for a while, and said, "The English name is Adventurer, which translates to Adventurer, number UN1960023." Though puzzled, she truthfully gave Lin Tian the yacht’s name and number.
Lin Tian gestured for her to wait, then took out his phone and dialed a number: "Wenxing, it’s Lin Tian."
Indeed, the person he wanted to contact was Liu Wenxing, the computer genius, still studying abroad. In fact, they were not only classmates but also colleagues now, as Lin Tian was also an employee of the Xiao Group.
"Brother Tian, long time no see. I’ve missed you so much," Liu Wenxing’s excited voice came from the phone.
Xiao Manxue overheard it curiously. Didn’t he want the boat number? Why did he contact Liu Wenxing after getting it?
"Miss your girlfriend, huh? How’s it going, separated by distance, missing each other like crazy?" Lin Tian teased.
"Haha, in my heart, Brother Tian is as important as my girlfriend. As much as I miss her, I miss you," Liu Wenxing chuckled, as if their conversation had taken them back to high school days.
"Haha, spending a few months abroad has opened you up a lot, but stop making me cringe. I don’t want a man thinking about me all day—unless it’s a beauty," Lin Tian laughed heartily, wondering why he hadn’t realized before how good this guy was at saying cheesy things. Seems like dating has improved him.
"Does Brother Tian need other beauties? With the Miss by your side, so beautiful, so great—I think you two are a great match. You should be together, right? I’m rooting for you," Liu Wenxing said, oblivious that his big boss was standing right next to him.
Xiao Manxue, a master of ancient martial arts, could hear the faint sounds from the phone clearly. Her face flushed as she glared at Lin Tian fiercely, "Hmph, this Liu Wenxing doesn’t study properly and just talks nonsense. See how I’ll deduct his allowances."
"Ahem..." Lin Tian pretended to cough twice and said seriously, "Um, Wenxing, let’s not talk about this. You help me check something; our President Xiao is waiting next to me."
"What, President Xiao is beside you? Haha, does that mean if my pairing made her happy, she’d raise my salary?" Li Wenxing said whimsically.
Raise your uncle, wait to get your salary deducted. Lin Tian was speechless, wondering why this guy didn’t have any tact.
"Cut it out, help me check a yacht, name Adventurer, IMO number UN1960023, hack into their system, and check its recent voyage track, then send me the route map," Lin Tian silently mourned for him for a second, then returned to the topic, lest this guy talk too much and make more mistakes.
Xiao Manxue heard every word clearly and said in surprise, "Oh, I see, I understand your plan now. However, tell Liu Wenxing to be careful and not leave any traces."
"Don’t worry, Wenxing’s skills are acknowledged even by Nuwa. Besides, he’s merely checking some ship info, not hacking into someone’s bank system," Lin Tian made an OK gesture to reassure the Miss.
Recalling last time when Liu Wenxing and AI Nuwa teamed up to crack an encrypted flash drive, Xiao Manxue, knowing his top-notch skills, felt at ease again.
"Brother Tian, rest assured, this is simple, no need to hang up, I’ll check it right away," Liu Wenxing said confidently.
If computer skills were ranked by martial cultivation, Liu Wenxing would at least be at Innate Early Stage, so of course, he had the pride to back it up.
Indeed, less than three minutes later, Lin Tian’s phone beeped with a message alert. He opened it to find a data packet from an unknown source containing the Adventurer yacht’s navigation track.
As long as the navigation track is loaded onto sea charts, anywhere the Adventurer yacht has been will be crystal clear.
"Wenxing, thank you. Study hard and come back soon, so we can reunite," Lin Tian said, happy to see Liu Wenxing doing better.
In the stage of Xiao Group, his talent would find its fullest expression because whether it’s the Miss or Mrs. Xiao, they both value talent, unlike some family businesses that rely on nepotism.
Hanging up the phone, he found the Miss looking at him, blushing. Remembering Liu Wenxing’s jokes earlier, Lin Tian chuckled, "The Miss won’t really deduct Wenxing’s salary, right?"
"You’re so unruly; have I ever deducted your salary?" Xiao Manxue gave him a sidelong look, grumbling.
Back when Lin Tian was just a bodyguard, he dared to hit Xiao Manxue, his employer, on the backside—indeed unruly. As if by silent agreement, they both seemed to recall that event. Lin Tian couldn’t help but glance at the Miss’s round, curvy bottom.
Xiao Manxue’s face turned even redder under his gaze. Her hips seemed to remember the feel of Lin Tian’s hands, making her dizzy with an uncontrolled heartbeat.
"Ahem, Miss, can you do me another favor?" Lin Tian raised a brow, smiling.
"What favor?" Xiao Manxue asked, thinking Lin Tian was up to something, and stepped back two steps, looking guarded. She couldn’t be blamed; Lin Tian’s smile was a bit too suggestive.
"Lend me a yacht—I want to go out to sea," Lin Tian said directly without beating around the bush.
Xiao Manxue quirked her long, beautiful eyebrows and asked, "Can you sail?"
"Well... not really," Lin Tian paused, embarrassed. The task he had in mind required avoiding ordinary people due to the danger involved, but he couldn’t navigate a boat himself.
Sailing isn’t the same as driving a car. If not familiar, there’s not only the question of whether it can be moved; even if it can, running it aground on a reef could sink the ship.
