Assassin's Chronicle - Chapter 33: Knell

A full dive VR game has been released, A New World. While it is not the only VR game in the world, this one has one advantage over others:

Being able to play it even while sleeping.

Like one would think, many people jumped to try and claim the first headsets. Mostly gamers, but some other types of people too. Our MC, Eldrian, is naturally a gamer who could not wait but to try it.

Quickly he and everyone else who bought the headsets found themselves in a world, not just a game. While realism is nice and all, the amount they were given was just too much...

Players started taking emotional tolls from playing the game, and when the company made a shocking announcement. This was amplified.

I started this(July2020) just about a year ago now(June2021) as a newbie writer, and am proud with what it has become.

I will warn people that the game and real-world is truly integrated, as well that the story is slow.

Things don't magically happen for the sake of the story, I always try to figure out what would happen if this was reality. (Though I might fail sometimes in achieving this.)

I also try to be interactive with my readers, maybe too much... So do comment, I read all the chapter comments and most of the paragraph ones.

Char lived alone in the closed beta test of “Fantasy World” for thousands of years. He had already experienced 177 data wipes. In this span of time, he had already successfully charmed all of the NPC beauties, challenged all of the bosses single-handedly, gathered all of the divine weapons and used hundreds of methods to complete the online game as though it was a replayable console game. Just as he was losing the ability to differentiate whether he was a player or an NPC, the public beta started for “Fantasy World”. As such, a player who was even more terrifying than a boss was born.

Over a million years ago, the first human contracted with the first Spirit. Ever since then, Spirit use has become commonplace. Humans used Spirits to carry items and start fires. Eventually, even start wars. Thousands upon thousands of years past and one day, one human did the impossible. He transcended his mortality and ascended to the realm above.

Yuchi traveled to the wild and ferocious world, where the heroes of all races lived in the world, and was arranged to be put in prison by others since he was born.

When others have completely forgotten this little transparent thing, he has already taken out the bamboo pole that accompanied him in his previous life.

There are souls of ancient gods and beasts in the vast wilderness of the world, rivers and seas.

This bamboo pole can communicate with ancient times.

Go fishing in the Nether Dead Sea and get the Lament of the Naga Siren!

Fishing in the Bone Ning River, get the onslaught of Mourning Murlocs!

Go fishing in the cave sky and deep pool, and get the golden pupil of the five-clawed dragon!

Hang candles in the sea and sky to fish, and get the real fire of the nine-tailed white fox!

Tens of thousands of years have passed in a flash, and gods and beasts from all walks of life come to congratulate them on their wedding banquet.
