I Can Contract Beauties - Chapter 106: Journey
The moment Miguel tilted his head upwards, the necklace, which he won from the bet with Gasper, was immediately revealed underneath the jaw of the lizard’s skull.
Among the people around, only two knew of the existence of this necklace.
Erika and Gasper, who were both there when the bet happened, happened to see the necklace the moment Miguel tilted his head up.
Their eyes immediately went wide in surprise. Joy could not be hidden from the twinkle of their eyes as they realized the identity of the man wearing a draconic mask.
They looked at each other and instantly made an agreement not to divulge this information to anyone else.
They guessed that Miguel wanted to hide his identity for some reason, and they were not about to blow his cover out just like that.
After the tacit agreement was made, Erika and Gasper acted calmly as Erika answered, "It’s the 4th year of Carlos Meven’s rule, Mister? "
"Journey. You can call me Journey," Miguel stated after some thought.
The people from Peach Village called him The Fool before. It was just alright for him to pay homage to such a nickname, right?
This nickname was also perfect for his aspirations in this new life.
It was the beginning of an impactful journey.
With his current strength, there was no need for him to hide his strength anymore.
A Gold Grade Beast was already the top power in Blazing Expanse. And after achieving the 6th stage of the Cleansing Realm, he was now as strong as a Level 2 Gold Grade Beast.
Paired with Edith and Aaliyah, he knew that no one would be able to contend with them anymore.
Of course, Miguel did not get complacent, as he knew that there were beings that liked to hide themselves. Who knew if there were beings that surpassed Gold Grade strength hiding somewhere in Blazing Expanse?
Hence, he only allowed Edith to attack earlier, and he remained at the back watching her fight.
This was to fool everyone and let them think that he was just an ordinary summoner who happened to have a strong summon, while he himself was weak and would hide behind his summon during a fight.
This was his way of revealing his Trump card, but he was still hiding enough behind the scenes to surprise those who meant him harm.
The reason he revealed his real identity to Erika and Gasper was because he still needs to go to the Red Family to seek knowledge and understanding about this world.
This was his plan to begin with, but instead of becoming a student, he can just go directly as a strong Summoner and ask for their knowledge directly.
Sara was still in Peach Village, and he did not want her to get worried about his safety. He will tell Erika to inform Marcel later that he was fine and that Sara has nothing to worry about.
On the other hand, the reason he still decided to hide his identity this time was also for Sara.
With his strength, it would be apparent that he would also encounter stronger enemies from now on. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
In this world, beasts and demonized beasts were not the only enemies one had to worry about. There were still the Demon’s of Ediith’s time, and more importantly, the most fearsome enemies of all, the humans themselves.
If his identity was revealed and the enemies ended up knowing his relationship with Sara, he knew that they would find a way to hurt her sooner or later.
Hiding his identity would hide their relationship with each other to protect her, and at the same time, it would also allow him to move without fearing the consequences that it might bring to her and those around him.
With his Innate Skill at work, there was no need to worry about Erika and Gasper revealing his identity either. He had already seen through the both of them, especially Gasper, who had already changed for the better during these past few days.
"Meven? I didn’t know that there was such an empire in the East before," Edith commented with a frown behind her mask at the side.
"The name’s Edith, by the way. His Innate Beast." she replied confidently.
However, hearing her speak was more of a shock than knowing she was Mr. Journey’s Innate Beast.
After all, they had never seen or heard of a beast that could talk before.
As if realizing their confusion, Miguel merely smiled and explained, "No need to get surprised. This is something common if your contracted beast reaches a certain level."
This was the truth from his previous life, and this was the truth even in this world.
Other entities aside from humans would be able to learn human speech as long as their intelligence was high enough to do so.
Edith nodded her head in agreement. "The higher the intelligence of your contracted beast, the higher the chances that they will be able to learn to speak human words in the future as well."
The Grimoire Summoners around looked at each other in understanding. They had already bonded with their own beasts since they awakened their grimoires. If their beast could indeed learn human words and converse with them in the future, that would be the best, right?
None of them thought that Mr. Journey and Edith were telling lies. After all, there was no reason for them to lie with their strength, right? And even if they did, the summoners would still believe their words without question.
When the strong and those in power speak, it becomes the truth to the weak, no matter how absurd it was.
"Right, that person earlier mentioned that you are from an influential family, the Red Family? I want to understand the current era better. Can you bring us to your family and perhaps share some information about this current empire as well?" Miguel kept acting and asked politely.
Hearing that, Erika came forward and bowed slightly toward them.
"It is our honor to have you two as our guests, Mr. Journey and Ms. Edith. You saved our lives, so I will also request that our elders give you some satisfactory rewards when we arrive at our family base," she said.
Knowing that Mr. Journey was Miguel made her want to give it her all so as to satisfy him with the reward for saving them.
"That’s great to hear," Miguel replied calmly.
At the next moment, his gaze suddenly shifted to one particular person and stated, "Right. I can spare your life if you tell me the real motive behind their captivity. What do you think?"
Hearing that, the person to whom his gaze was directed immediately shivered in horror.
He thought that he had hidden well. He did not expect that he would still be found out in the end.
The gazes of everyone around the room also shifted towards him.
He was situated at the very back of the crowd. Upon seeing him, hateful gazes were immediately redirected towards him as they realized who it was.
He had hidden himself well. If Mr. Journey had not pointed him out, he would surely escape here in the end.
Gasper looked at him and growled hatefully, "RANDY!"
