Even though Miguel felt that he had slashed the beast into two, he was surprised to find out that it had actually dissipated into thin air, much like a smoke.

A moment later, another beast actually appeared a few meters away from him. This beast has the same appearance as the one he slashed out earlier.

It was a wolf with a dark shadowy appearance. Its fur is sleek and midnight-black, and its eyes gleamed with a bloodthirsty red. Saliva dripped out of its mouth as it stared at Miguel intently.

The wolf’s most distinctive feature is the ever-shifting, shadowy aura that envelops its form, making it appear like a living shadow.

Seeing its appearance and the bloodthirsty look on its eyes, Miguel immediately realized that this wolf had become demonized just like the hyena they met previously.

Miguel observed the wolf and at the next moment, another wolf of the same appearance actually materialized right beside it, looking intently at Miguel as well.

Seeing that, Miguel immediately guessed that this was its skill. A skill that could create a double of itself.

Miguel swirled the sword and got ready for the wolf’s attack. He also summoned the jet-black grimoire, so that it could record the battle so that he can be rewarded by the World’s Will after killing this demonized wolf.

Seeing Miguel’s posture, the wolf howled angrily before one of it lunged towards Miguel. The other one on the other hand hopped sideways as it attacked Miguel from that angle.

Miguel was not worried and calmly slashed the demonic wolf that lunged at him into two, the same as what happened earlier.

However, it also dissipated into smoke as the demonic wolf who attacked Miguel at the side had its mouth full of razor-sharp teeth was wide open, trying to gnaw at Miguel’s stomach.

Miguel did not panic though and just calmly swayed to the side, avoiding the demonic wolf’s mouth nonchalantly.

With an exquisite control, Miguel twirled the Volcanic Wyrm Sword and slashed at the demonic wolf in mid-air.

Suddenly, the demonic wolf disappeared right in front of his eyes, appearing a few meters away beneath a tree.

At this moment, a mocking smirk appeared on Miguel’s face as his head turned towards the demonic wolf, "Got ya!"

His figure disappeared and emerged at the back of the demonic wolf. With a casual swipe, blood splattered as the demonic wolf was cut into two parts. This time, it was finally dead.

All throughout the battle, Miguel only used a single [Shadow Steps] to kill a Level 3 Normal Grade Demonized Beast upfront. When he killed the hyena previously, he ambushed it using [Shadow Steps] before dealing a quick [Precise Strike] to end its life.

From this battle alone, it was already apparent that he had improved a lot compared to his last fight with the last demonized beast.

The experience points he got was a little less compared to his solo kill with the hyena before as at that time, he was still at Beginner Apprentice, while he was already at Intermediate Apprentice Rank right now.

With the previous instances as an example, Miguel guessed that the experiences gained were based on the main combatant of the fight. This might also be the reason why the beast would receive most of the experience as when they were present, it would automatically mean that they were the one fighting.

Miguel kept the grimoire back to the Inner World as he burned the Lone Shadow Wolf’s carcass into crisp. He left the area after he made sure that it had been properly disposed of.

The battle with Lone Shadow Wolf did not take long. Miguel continued following the wailing sound but an hour later, he encountered another demonized beast.

He easily disposed of it due to the overwhelming difference in level. Demonized Beasts were indeed crazy. Even though it was already apparent that it could not defeat an enemy, it would still attack without a regard for its own life.

This second encounter with a Demonic Beast made Miguel frown. He suddenly recalled their encounter a few days ago.

Were these instances connected?

Was the bandit behind all these demonic beasts?

’It should not be possible. It was clear that Randy and the others were also taken aback by the demonic beast’s appearance at that time...’ Miguel thought to himself as he walked forward after disposing of the bat’s carcass.

Perhaps, something was truly going on behind the scenes, that even the bandits did not know about.

Miguel continued walking forward with the expectation of encountering a few more demonic beast.

The wailing sound had still not stopped and it would ’scream’ from time to time without a clear interval. If it was the others, they would have surely retreated by now as it truly resembled the wail of a ghost that one could only hear in stories of the bards.

However, Miguel was different. His curiosity was piqued so he continued moving forward.

And just like what he expected, he indeed met another demonic beast a few minutes later. This was the third demonic beast that he encountered for this night alone.

’Did Erika say that demonic beasts are rare and could not be encountered easily?’ Miguel could not help but jokingly thought as he summoned the grimoire to keep a record as he dashed forward to meet the aggressive demonized beast.
