Chapter 331

Slowly rising to his feet as the dust settled, Ray could be seen looking at the dead...broken pile of bones before him while his gauntlets shattered into a few pieces—falling from his hands.

"We-We defeated it?!" Van shouted in shock as he refused to believe that they had actually won.

Seeing how powerful and versatile the creature was, Van was definitely sure that they would lose their lives.

But they had actually won?

Trisha was on her knees panting in exhaustion.

She had just a tiny fraction of meta-force left in her and if they hadn’t defeated the beast in time, it would have been it for her.

Kai still had quite a lot of meta-force left in him but Chloe was done—spent her last mf to boost the Tribrid to deliver the last strike to the creature.

In a few seconds, the dust settled totally to reveal Ray standing in front of the pile of bones with blood rolling down his lips.

That was the confirmation they needed.

They had definitely won.

And with that, Van allowed himself to release a shaky breath of relief as his hand suit slowly disintegrated into hundreds of mechanical little spiders.

The spiders were running toward the small silver bracelet wrapped around his wrist and disappeared into a slot.

"Man. What a crazy experience," Chloe heaved a shaky breath of relief as she wanted to collapse on the ground to rest.

Though she hadn’t fought on the frontlines, the tension of the fight had been heavy on her, making her feel almost suffocated—especially with how powerful the creature was that survival looked almost inconceivable.

But thank goodness and Ray that they had actually survived this ordeal.

If Chloe wanted to rank the creature with the scaling of beasts, it would have been a King rank beast on the cusp of an evolution to the next rank.

Terribly close.

"Good job guys," Ray finally uttered as he lifted his head to look at the others with a smile on his face.

"Hpmh. It wasn’t even that strong," Trisha scoffed as she threw her head to the side, then winced inwardly.

’Damn. My arms. That damned creature sure packed a lot of strength in its bones.’

Kai just remained standing as the memory of the fight rushed into his mind.

’Why did I feel useless in that fight?’

"So....what now?" Chloe asked as she looked at the others.

Kai lifted his gaze.

"Now? Now we move onto the next region before sunset."

Van looked at him. "I mean, what’s the rush? With the controller dead, I don’t think any skeletal beings will rise at night, right?"

"So what are you suggesting? We rest here? In the open?" Kai asked as he pointed at the bare, wide expanse of land still covered in bones.

Van shrugged.

"Since no other creatures roam this region, we can just rest up here. The skeletons won’t rise. It’s just for us to catch our breaths for a day."

"I kind of agree too," Chloe replied after a brief thought.

Ray looked at his squad, then at his system screen still hovering in front of him.

’I need time to process all my rewards so....’

"... Kai, let’s rest. The journey can wait till tomorrow."

Kai then shrugged indifferently as he looked around the place for several seconds.

"Okay. I don’t know about you all, but sleeping out in the open doesn’t sit right with me. I need something over my head."

Trisha looked around the place, then her gaze landed on the wide hollow in the ground where the controller had jumped out from.

"What about there?"

Everybody followed her gaze and the direction of her pointed finger.

Then they looked back at her with furrowed brows.

"Isn’t that the lair of the creature, Trish?" Van asked with a cocked brow.

"So?"

"’So’? What if that place is booby-trapped by the controller?" Van questioned.

Trisha shrugged. "Then deactivate it. You are smart."

"De-Deactivate it? Guys, did this girl even watch movies?" Van asked as he pointed his thumb in her direction.

’My Thermal Vision is down at the moment so I can’t use it to scan the hollow. But so far, I’m not picking up any strange sound or smell from that place. It seems relatively safe.’

Kai sighed. "Let’s go check it out first and see if it is safe enough for us to use."

Chloe nodded in agreement.

After seeing that nobody was disagreeing, Kai led the way with the others following him.

It didn’t take up to three minutes before the squad reached the hollowed ground and what they saw was....

"Well, that’s not strange at all," Chloe gulped.

In front of the group was a cratered ground that went five meters deep and was as wide as a bus.

Deep inside the ground were tons of bones that seemed to come from other creatures that weren’t the usual skeletal entities they were used to.

They could see the bones of some spider carapaces they fought, and bones of strange creatures that they wouldn’t be able to describe without their flesh to aid them.

It seemed like some stubborn beasts had tried sneaking into the territory and they got destroyed by the guardian, who ended up using their remains as decoration for its lair.

Some bones were embedded in the wall of the hollow like decorations; some were laid on the ground in a way that made it a twisted version of marble flooring.

A patch of fur could be seen in one corner like a makeshift bed.

A freshly dead beast could be seen in another area, still slowly dripping with blood.

Then dozens upon dozens of different bone weapons were hung carefully on a wall, making the whole place seem....creepy.

"Well, it looks okay. Hospitable even," Ray uttered and, without hesitation, jumped into the crater.

"Come on. Let’s go rest," Kai beckoned and followed after the Tribrid.

"Mehn... this feels odd," said Van as he followed after the others.

And soon, one by one, they were all jumping down into the hollowed ground.
