Chapter 337

Clang!

Ray immediately parried away the claw strike to the side, but the wolf immediately lunged at him with a swipe toward his legs.

Quickly vaulting into the air, Ray switched the weapon to that of a hammer and quickly descended with a slam toward the beast’s head.

However, the wolf had already moved out of the way in the nick of time, allowing for the hammer to crash into the ground with heavy momentum, shaking the very hill as if it was on the verge of collapsing.

Leaping toward the boy, the wolf opened its powerful jaws and tried taking a bite of the boy, but he immediately twirled around—getting behind the beast while thrusting his bone spear toward its hindquarters.

As if feeling it, the wolf quickly lifted its hind leg upward, slamming the spear upward and away from its body.

Before spinning around and lunging forward, it slammed its horn toward the boy’s abdomen.

A bone shield immediately appeared in his hand, which he snapped into place.

Bang—!

The shield shuddered loudly from the beast crashing into it.

Luckily, the bone shield was sturdy enough to withstand the intensity of the beast’s horn.

Pushing it to the side, lightning arced around the boy’s hand, which he thrust forward, sending a concentrated strike of lightning shooting toward the beast.

However, it was a tad faster as it zipped to the side, allowing for the attack to crash into the ground.

’Huh? Why are you giving me so much trouble compared to the others I killed?’

The wolf howled angrily as it jumped into the air and was descending at the boy with terrible speed.

Ray dove to the side, allowing for the beast to crash into the space he had just occupied.

Swinging his hand in the air, he sent an obsidian slash of energy rocketing toward the beast.

It wasn’t fast enough this time.

The slash slammed into its muzzle, tearing through it and sending black ichor splattering into the air.

Before the beast could even think of regaining its footing, a golden lasso shot through the air and wrapped around its horn.

With a powerful yank forward, the beast was lifted off its feet and shot toward the boy.

Shifting his feet slightly on the ground, Ray cocked his hand backward as his muscles bulged hard.

And then, he smashed his fist twice in a single second into the beast’s head.

Each punch carried the force of a siege ram, and cracks could be seen appearing on its skull.

The beast ricocheted across the hill and almost fell off, but before it could, the golden lasso dragged it away from the edge of the hill.

The wolf whimpered in pain as it desperately tried standing up while seeing the human steadily and unhurriedly walk toward him with a bone hammer dragging across the ground.

No matter how hard it tried to stand, the beast couldn’t as its legs felt like jelly and its vision became blurry.

With nothing else to do, the wolf desperately began howling with all the energy it had left in it.

Now, Ray stood before it as he slowly lifted his hammer above his head while locking eyes with the still howling wolf.

"I’m sorry. I need to grow stronger and this is the only way."

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Three precise hits of his hammer on the wolf’s head were enough to silence its howls and also trigger a loud ding in the boy’s mind.

’How many hours left till sunrise?’

[Three and a half hours]

"Still have much time."

The Tribrid then looked between the dead male wolf and the female wolf which laid a few steps away.

Then his mind flashed back to when he had landed on the hill.

The position he had found the wolves.

Earlier, his mind had been so occupied with ending the fight as soon as possible that he didn’t even register what he saw.

It was now that his mind calmed down a bit, he finally realized why the wolf was so angry that for a moment, Ray’s cheeks heated up in embarrassment.

’Wait. Was it angry because it couldn’t...it couldn’t.... I interrupted them?’

"..."

Shaking his head, Ray sent the hammer back into his inventory and pulled out a bone sword instead, then shook his head again.

"My bad bro. I was in such a hurry and needed to become stronger fast. Rest in peace knowing you have helped me grow an inch closer to my objectives."

And then with that, Ray jumped off the small hill.

Only when he was airborne did his eyes stretch wide in realization as his perception began tingling, and then, he dropped his gaze down below to see his mistake.

’Shit. Shit. Shit! The fuck is this?!’

Unfortunately, he couldn’t control nor stop his descent as he landed smoothly on the ground.

He instantly shot to his full height to take in the full scene of what he was seeing.

All around him, surrounding him like soldiers, were a dozen wolves that were all growling angrily with their fangs on full display.

’How is this possible? I-I didn’t spot any wolves close by when I picked this location. Ho—’

Only then did his mind think back to the final moments of the male wolf.

’Of course! It wasn’t pleading for its life. It was crying for help, and its howls brought these guys here!’

Growl—!

The wolves were all tensing up, ready to lunge at the boy.

’Damn. Twelve Advanced rank beasts? I know I will win, but this will still be a hassle.’

The boy immediately shifted into a battle-ready stance with his sword lifted up and pointed at the beasts.

Instantly, the wolves all lunged toward him as fast as they could while the boy’s gaze hardened.

’This is all for the greater good... of myself.’

He also bolted forward to meet the wolves head-on.
