[ Special skill: Quest Provider has been granted ]

Quest Provider (E-rank) 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

As the lord of a territory, you naturally have the right and ability to grant missions unto your people. Nevertheless, with this skill, you become a living system yourself — you grant quests, timelines, rewards, and penalties. This simple change not only makes you unique compared to other lords, but with smart utilisation, you can gradually evolve your followers in any direction you desire.

ADDED DETAILS:

~1) Due to this unique skill, your experience points will be stored instead of being utilised immediately. This way, you can deduct and use them as rewards for the quests you grant.

~2) This skill cannot be upgraded with skill points. It only grows alongside the crystal of authority.

~3) At the current skill level, you can only grant one active quest. Once a quest is pending, you cannot add another unless the pending one is completed or failed.

~4) At the current skill level, quests must be written and passed to the targeted follower. This must include every detail clearly, or the skill will not register it as a quest.

~5) Normally, due to the difficulty of your mission and now with the arrival of this skill, you cannot grant any of your followers any item from the system without attaching it to a quest.

Floki studied the skill with his eyes and mouth agape.

"This..."

He was speechless. He had never truly seen any skill like this in the novels he had read.

He studied the skill details a few more times and could only describe it as a game changer.

He had not really had the time to settle down and think about how to improve his military force, as he had been busy improving himself, understanding himself and the world, and revealing the hidden skill within the crystal of authority.

But thinking further about the new skill, if he could indeed grant his people quests and set experience points as rewards, he could turn even the smallest child into an ultimate unit over time.

He studied all the rules listed on the panel once more to ensure he missed nothing and finally closed the system.

His stomach grumbled the moment he settled down. He finally realised that since last night, he had not tasted anything.

He stared across his room. There was no sight of anything edible.

But his eyes landed on something.

Some parchments lay discarded on the ground at a corner of his room. Beside them was a small wooden cup filled with something that worked as ink in this world, along with a quill to use it.

"Great... these can serve as writing materials till I unlock the shop and maybe obtain better ones."

He thought to himself as he grabbed one of the parchments. It was rough-looking with a creamy appearance. It had a faint stench, probably from dampness that had affected the leather it was made of.

He dipped the quill into the ink-like substance and began to scribble gently.

He had already thought of something fairly simple to write down. He wrote the title and the details. Just when he was about to add rewards and penalties, he realised he had nothing to give out in that regard.

He had already consumed all his experience points, and his inventory lacked any item that could be used as a reward.

"What should I do now?" he wondered quietly.

"Killing insects at my current level would yield nothing. Even if I go after pests, they are too weak to grant any form of experience points. Unless I target something at least half my level, would I be able to earn experience points? And for now, the shop is inaccessible unless I reach silver-rank, which brings the question..."

He decided to inquire from the system.

From his memories, the ranks were widely known.

The village chief who attacked them was at the peak of bronze-rank according to rumours, and his knight was a silver-rank entity, although his current stage was unknown.

His question triggered a plain response from the system.

[ Bronze Rank – Level 1–20, Silver Rank – Level 21–45, Gold Rank – Level 46–80.. ]

It only listed three ranks and their corresponding levels and nothing more. That was slightly disheartening, as he had hoped for more insight.

"So level 21 to reach silver... not as bad as I expected.." he muttered to himself. "I need to level up as soon as possible."

There were no means available to level up in the village at the moment.

Nonetheless, he had something in mind.

For that, he would need the two grieving sons of Harald the hunter.

He dropped the parchment and left his room.

He was greeted by the bright rays of the late morning sun and the steady activities on the streets.

He spotted some elderly men holding crude farm tools strolling towards a certain location. They walked with their wives or children. He also spotted a group of elderly women walking slowly with two young boys who helped them drag a single water bag along.

They all greeted him, and he waved back at them.

Nevertheless, his eyes paid more attention to their tools. They were all crude and poorly made, almost useless for proper work.

The water bag the two young boys dragged along had holes, and water leaked from it constantly. More than half of its contents would likely spill before they reached their destination.

Aside from the tools, he noticed the malnourished looks on both children and adults.

The children had very slim hands, exposed chest bones, and round stomachs. They were suffering from kwashiorkor.

The adults looked no better.

And then there were their clothes.

The adults wore rags, and the children were mostly naked. It was not only unpleasant to look at, but such exposure could easily lead to sickness. The children being constantly exposed to the weather was not a good thing either.

"All this because of a greedy bastard," he muttered.

Right now, he had to move quickly.

He gave himself a short deadline.

In three days, if his plan went well, his village would turn for the better.

And if it went exceptionally well, Blackstone Village would be no more.
