100X Return System: My Talent Awakening Becomes a God-Level Cheat-Chapter 19: The Pedestal Crystal [2]
"The Pedestal Crystal..."
The words slipped out of Chrome’s lips as though he didn’t hear the question the random Farmer had spoken.
For a while they all stood and gazed at the magnificent structure before them.
On the body of the white Cylindrical Pedestal were black intrinsic writings carved in a special format as though written a thousand years ago.
The words look ancient, not in the language the Farmers spoke in, it was mythical and mysterious.
The Crystal on the Pedestal, illuminated lights of different colors. There were seven lights on the crystal, each having their own distinct colors.
On each color were different types of shapes, more like a drawing of some sort.
Chrome, who was more curious moved closer to the Pedestal Crystal, his hands out as though he wanted to hold it.
Upon seeing his movement, Nyra wanted to stop him, but then she realized that if there was any person who could understand the thing, it was him.
Every Farmer inhaled deeply and exhaled afterwards. The question of who was to go and tell the other groups had already faded past their ears.
Who would want to leave such a magnificent structure and become a messenger?
The reason being, the Crystal on the Pedestal was sparkling and alluring, and to most Farmers, these was the sort of thing they often obtain from the Abyss and use to make a fortune in the real world.
However, here it was bad news for them, as this wasn’t something they could just pull out and take.
"Can you read it?" Sinon asked Chrome, as he stood closest to the Crystal than anyone else.
"I can’t, but there is a pattern. And if I am able to get..."
Before he could finish his statement, Natsu interrupted saying:
"What pattern?"
Chrome turned his head and stared at Natsu, then at Nyra. She gave him a nod, then he turned back to the Crystal, looking closely at it.
"It’s a bit complicated but there are seven lights... which is obvious. On each lights, are different shaped like objects."
"There is a snowflake, a plain, a rock, a sand, a forest, a mountain, and a tree."
Chrome turned around after calling what he had saw, as though he was looking for an answer.
"So... what does it mean?" a random Farmer asked, rudely.
Chrome stared at the random Farmer as though he was a nobody, his gaze packed with knowledge that the Farmer would never obtain in his entire life.
Afterwards, he looked around to see if there was any person who could perhaps have an idea to what he had called, but there was no one.
At the front of the Farmers were Sinon, Nyra and their own party. They all had eyes of anticipation to what he was going to say next.
Upon seeing this, Chrome turned back to the Crystal and continued.
"My guess is that, these seven symbols represent each of the rings."
Hearing this, Nyra and Sinon stepped forward, towards Chrome and surrounded the Pedestal Crystal.
The Crystal was giving out a strange slight sound, like that of a buzz, but not everyone could hear, except the three around it.
"You see?" Chrome pointed at the shapes.
At this point they were not shapes anymore but symbols, and they each represented a single ring.
He pointed at the first symbol with white color.
"This is the snowflake, and if I am correct it represents the first ring, which is what we are now."
"The second ring is the plain symbol with the color brown, the third ring; the color red which is the rock."
While Chrome was speaking most of the Farmers all stretched their heads to see what he was explaining, but they couldn’t as he was blocking their view.
"The fourth ring; the color gold is the sand, the fifth ring; the dark green color is the forest."
"The black color is the sixth ring which is the mountain and finally, the seventh ring is the light green which is the tree."
After Chrome had finished explaining, both Nyra and Sinon looked filled with knowledge as though they had just cracked the code, however...
"That’s not all." Chrome added.
Nyra and Sinon looked at each other, puzzled.
"That’s not all?" Sinon asked.
To her, just knowing the links between the colors, symbols and rings were a lot in her head, and that wasn’t all?
Chrome had seen the satisfaction in their faces after he explained the link, which made him say that wasn’t all.
Of course, he wasn’t lying but simply using it to tease them.
"Yes..." He began, "Although we have found the link, now we have to find a way to operate it so we can move this ring."
As he said this, the words of the voice that spoke when they got into this challenge echoed in their ears.
It talked about how they should find the Pedestal Crystal to move the ring but never how to actually operate it.
They were at a dead end.
"So what do you do now?" Nyra asked, staring at Chrome with an almost defeated expression.
However, Chrome didn’t feel that way. He knew there was a way to activate it, and he was going to get it, so he said.
"Give me some time."
Hearing his words, Nyra didn’t push further as she saw the expression on his face, with his right hand on his chin.
This was his deep thought mode, and there are always profitable results afterwards.
After looking at him, a smile played on Nyra’s face as she walked away from the pedestal crystal back to the group of Farmers.
"It might take a lot of time before we figure out how this works," she began. "But in the meantime I want four of us to go and inform the others we have found the Crystal."
"Anyone...?"
Silence fell as the murmuring which was going on before had suddenly stopped. All eyes were now on Nyra as if she had just asked them to their death.
There was no one willing to take the job. But who would want to? Going back to a dead zone, is just the same as going to their end.
It had already been over a minute since the question was asked, and Nyra had a pale expression.
’Looks like no one is willing.’ she thought, inwardly. ’What should I do now?’
Just then a voice was heard and a hand was raised.
"I will go..." the voice exclaimed.
Every head turned to the direction of the voice and a woman in her early twenties walked out.
"I will go and inform the others." She said again..
Just then another voice called out, and a man in his late thirties walked to the front saying.
"I will also go. It wouldn’t be safe if a lady goes on her own. It’s dangerous out there."
He glanced at the lady who came out with a smile on his face, as though he and negative intentions.
Afterwards, two other hands were raised, a male and a female walked out, completing the four needed for the task.
Nyra was relieved that they had come out on their own will, because if they hadn’t, she would have been forced to pick.
Although she was the strongest here and strength meant everything, she wasn’t the oldest.
There were Farmers here who were twice her age, and she didn’t want to send them to their own death.
"Thank you for your bravery. You are going to do good." Nyra appreciated.
"You must know the directions of the other groups so, you just have to..."
"I’ve got it!"
Before Nyra could finish speaking, Chrome’s voice interrupted and immediately Nyra turned to him.
"What is it?"
Chrome stood up and faced Nyra, his expressions filled with excitement, saying:
"I have figured out how it operates. It’s a mechanical device and would only work if we pour our mana into it."
Nyra was surprised by what he had just said, her face curious, then she asked. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"How many do we need?"
Just then, Chrome’s brow furrowed as the words left his lips.
"Enough from... two hundred people."
