100X Returns System: I Dominate the Age of Gods-Chapter 152. Oath of Heavens
"I am White Raven, servant of my Lord, the Eternal Sovereign."
The man in the raven mask spoke calmly.
White robes flowed around his tall frame, making him look like someone who had stepped out of a graveyard.
The clearing fell into an uneasy silence.
At the same time, another conversation unfolded silently inside Andrea’s mind.
The mental transmission entered her mind.
"This man looks similar to Sara’s drawing." Yue’s voice echoed inside her thoughts.
Before Andrea could respond, another voice crashed into her consciousness, filled with disbelief.
"That swan is Sunchaser. Don’t ask me how. I just know it. That’s Sunchaser for sure!!"Tamasya’s voice rang loud and clear, her shock was barely contained in that tone.
Andrea’s heartbeat picked up pace as her gaze shifted toward the massive swan standing beside the masked man.
The creature stood calmly, wings folded.
Its presence was overwhelming, and Andrea felt quite familiar with it.
Andrea felt a strange pressure settle in her chest.
The White Raven turned his head slightly, and his attention moved away from the gathered heads.
"Forgive me, Miss Andrea," he said calmly as he looked at her.
"Today, my concern is not with you."
His gaze shifted behind her to the figure resting on a stone slab.
"It is with Empress Selena," he spoke.
He then began to walk towards her slowly while Seraphine floated beside him under the control of spiritual energy.
But the moment his foot moved another step forward, a sharp whistle cut through the air.
A cane landed directly in front of him with a huge crash, embedding itself into the stone ground with force.
Before anyone could react, Damian appeared in front of the White Raven.
A punch followed instantly, carrying the sound of a sonic boom, tearing through the air toward the masked man’s face.
But then the attack stopped inches away from the mask
The White Raven did not even flinch.
There was absolutely no reaction to even the shockwaves that Damian’s punch had released.
Not even a twitch.
His pale white pupils stared directly into Damian’s black eyes, they were unblinking and emotionless.
Dust that had risen due to the sonic boom of Damian’s punch gradually settled around them as the shockwave faded.
The two figures stood face to face.
Then, as if nothing had happened, the White Raven turned his head away.
He stepped around Damian and continued walking toward Selena.
His behavior and lack of reaction unsettled everybody who witnessed the scene.
Seraphine’s floating body glided gently beside him as he walked.
Selena moved forward without thinking, her legs carrying her on instinct.
She reached Seraphine and pulled her into her arms, holding her tightly as if afraid she might vanish again.
Her hands trembled as she clutched her daughter.
Only then did she look up.
Her eyes met the pale gaze behind the raven mask.
The White Raven bent forward slightly, lowering his head in a gesture that resembled respect.
"Lord Eternal Sovereign has blessed your daughter, Empress Selena," he said.
"He has saved her from pain and suffering."
Selena’s breath hitched.
"But," the White Raven continued calmly,
"My lord does not grant wishes."
"He grants favours."
"And favours,"
"ought to be repaid."
The White Raven stepped back slightly, giving Selena space to breathe.
Selena’s eyes were swollen and red as she looked at him.
"What do you want?" she asked.
Her voice was weak, but firm.
She wanted to add a lot more, but her mind was not steady enough to do so. The fear of losing Sera again had haunted her, and then her fears had surfaced again when Sera had been kidnapped.
The fear of losing Seraphine again stopped her from thinking straight.
A white handkerchief slipped out from the folds of the White Raven’s robe.
He held it out toward her.
Selena hesitated for a moment before taking it.
She wiped her tears roughly, her shallow breaths still sounded in the air.
"Tell me," she said."What does your lord need?"
"Is it wealth?"
"Is it my ancestral treasure?"
"I will give anything," her voice cracked,
"For my Seraphine."
"Miss Selena," the White Raven replied evenly.
"My lord is gracious, He does not demand wealth or treasures."
"A promise is enough."
"A promise made under the name of the heavens themselves."
A sharp gasp echoed through the clearing.
An Oath of Heavens.
The very words sent ripples of unease through everyone present.
On Aris, asking someone to swear under the heavens was considered shameless, outrageous, and dangerous.
Selena swallowed hard.
"What is it?" she asked.
Before the White Raven could answer, movement erupted from the side.
Xaeroth, the Dragon Emperor, finally stepped forward.
"We don’t need to promise anything," he roared.
"When we can just kill you."
His eyes burned with madness, anticipation of battle blazing within them.
Suddenly, his body vanished from where it stood and reappeared midair, his fist was already aimed at the White Raven’s face, about to descend like a meteor.
But something strange happened, the moment stretched unnaturally long.
Xaeroth’s eyes widened in shock.
His body was now frozen midair.
He could not move at all.
Gravity refused to let him keep his feet on the ground as if he were stuck in the space itself.
From every angle, the scene looked wrong.
The Dragon Emperor hung suspended in the air, locked in place like a broken statue.
[Alert!!! Host mana is draining fast. Do whatever you want, quickly.]
The White Raven’s pale pupils shifted toward Xaeroth.
"You still have dues to pay to my lord," he said quietly before stepping aside.
The space lock vanished.
Xaeroth crashed into the ground at a distance, skidding across stone with residual force.
Dust and debris filled the air.
The White Raven turned back his attention toward Selena.
"My lord needs a promise from your side," he said calmly.
"A vow."
"As the Elven Empress."
"In the future, when my lord summons you and the Elven Empire’s army to fight on his behalf,""You will not refuse."
"Ofcourse there will be exceptions to this condition."
"The threat will never be strong enough to endanger your empire or your loved ones."
"This vow will never be used against your allies."
Selena stared into his eyes.
The pale pupils held no deceit nor any hesitation.
Certainty radiated from them.
She did not doubt him.
"As the Elven Empress," Selena spoke clearly,
"I take the Oath of Heavens."
"As long as the adversary is not a threat to the existence of the Elven race or an ally of the Elven race".
"I, Selena Sylvaris, Empress of the Sylvaris Empire, will come to the aid of The Eternal Sovereign and fight on his behalf."
Her declaration echoed across the clearing, entering everyone’s ears. Today’s declaration was gonna settle in their minds slowly.
The White Raven retrieved the handkerchief from her hand.
"Farewell, Miss Selena," he said before turning away.
He walked toward Sunny in steady, slow steps.
As he passed the spot where Damian had tried to stop him, he turned his head slightly.
His eyes met Damian and lingered for a few moments.
Then the White Raven turned away and climbed onto Sunny’s back.
Sunny spread its massive wings.
"There is a barrier!" Selena shouted, but her warning went unheard.
Everyone watched, holding their breath.
Sunny approached the barrier.
The White Raven turned his gaze toward Marcus.
"I hope you don’t mind me, General," he said politely.
He then raised his hand.
His index finger was stretched back against his thumb.
He flicked.
The energy barrier shattered like glass.
In his mind, William spoke calmly.
Good job, Amorphous. You’re more useful than I thought.
Far away, at the edge of the forest, Amorphous stood holding the array hijacking stamp.
"Hehe, Master," he muttered.
"As a price, can I visit a brothel for a day?"
Tsk, William replied."Shut up. Return to Grimlock’s base immediately and submit the stamp back to my inventory."
"Yes, Master," Amorphous replied in a low dissapointed tone.
Sunny lifted into the sky.
In the traveler’s plaza, the shattered barrier left everyone stunned as they started measuring the intensity of events they had just witnessed.
