While the terrifying battle between Liliana and her siblings ensued on the sides, another battle started at the same time. This was perhaps far more important and deadly.

Chen Xiu locked her eyes on the man who made her sister suffer and now planned to do the same with her son. It made her eyes burn with fury that was soon resonated by the thunderclaps destroying the area around the mansion, striking randomly.

She threw a few spells deadly enough to kill Rank 5 Knights in a single hit, but not a single one landed on the old man. He wielded his spear as if he was the ultimate authority and his spear was the carrier of his judgement.

She laughed and covered her whole body with crackling purple lightning before shooting forward. She wasn’t a mage alone. She was a mad queen who ruled the skies.

She was Sky Reaper.

Xiu crashed down on Marvin faster than even her lightning bolts, punching her way through the shield that Marvin erected to protect himself.

The shield broke in an instant, but Marvin remained composed as he judged the situation quickly. Xiu was moving too fast for him to form a proper reaction, so he simply put his spear before him in a defensive stance.

The impact threw Marvin dozens of metres away despite him actually trying to stand his ground. The force behind the attack made his bones rattle, as the lightning coursed through his nerves, electrocuting him from the inside out.

"Hmph!"

He snorted and dispelled the lightning but that was the only thing he could do before Xiu’s lightning-fast attacks bombarded him from all sides.

Marvin showed his immense experience and blocked all of her attacks, yet each strike had him shaking to the bones, showing the clear difference between their powers.

Once again, he was thrown back as he crashed on a small hill not far away. Gritting his teeth, he raised his spear and plunged it deep into the ground below.

In an instant, the hill was pulverised as debris blasted out in all directions, raising dirt, dust and rocks high in the air.

It slowed down Xiu for a moment.

In the next second, a frightening red aura burst out, pushing all the debris away as a deep voice came from within it.

"Earth Vein Buster!"

Enveloped in a deep red aura, Marvin stood on the caved-in land where the hill once was, his hair flaring up in the aura as his eyes took on a deeper hue.

Looking at Xiu who still maintained her lightning-fast speed, Marvin slowly raised his spear and pointed at her, as he muttered, "Line of Death!"

Xiu felt her instincts tingling as she dropped the thought of attacking Marvin and disappeared from her spot in an instant, appearing a few hundred metres away.

In the next moment, the ground before her split into a wide chasm so deep that she was sure she could fall for a long time.

Marvin slowly walked towards her and said, "I have to say you’ve grown strong. If you were given more time, you could surely surpass me."

He clicked his lips as a cruel glint passed through his eyes. "Sadly, you messed with my family. You really shouldn’t have done that, child. For that, you will die."

"That’s a lot coming from a person whose hands were shaking from my basic attacks," Xiu scoffed in disdain. "Just admit you created that crater to hide the fact that you pissed yourself in fear."

"Such crude language!" Marvin shook his head in displeasure. "No wonder my grandson grew like that."

"I really need to break your teeth," Xiu muttered as she once again disappeared, appearing right beside Marvin who parried the incoming attack and then thrust forward with his spear.

Xiu wanted to dodge but the space around her itself seemed to rebel against her as it contracted, trying to bind her in place.

But she just grinned and through sheer strength broke through the constraints and began punching at Marvin from other angles.

They exchanged dozens of blows, faster than even enhanced eyes could follow and destroyed the terrain around them.

Xiu was a little surprised to see that Marvin could actually fight on equal footing and see through her ridiculous speed, even though he was enhanced by his aura.

After all, they were both at Rank 7.

’He is experienced. He’s decades older than me. By definition, he should win,’ Xiu smiled. "But he won’t. Not today!"

With a kick of her feet, she increased her speed even more, leaving behind afterimages that exploded into lightning arcs. The whole place was soon covered in beautiful purple lightning patterns.

Marvin stood his ground as he frowned. He couldn’t sense Xiu anymore. Not properly enough to fight, at least. It didn’t even feel like Xiu was moving anymore.

It was as if she was teleporting every moment. In just a single second, she appeared at dozens of places, leaving behind her afterimages.

At first, he didn’t understand what she was trying to do as she didn’t attack him, so he just raised his shield. But the next second, all of Xiu’s afterimages slammed their hands together in a loud clap.

Except, they weren’t human but lightning.

With a loud thunderclap, a dense net woven of purple lightning descended on Marvin as his eyes widened in horror. His eardrums ruptured from the powerful shockwave, his body refusing to obey his commands as he struggled to stay still.

Fortunately, most of the damage was nullified by the shield that broke again.

As he noticed Xiu moving again, Marvin didn’t think twice and shouted, "The Bleeding Forest!"

Xiu slowed down her speed as she noticed something changing around Marvin. Almost a hundred metres of area around him was affected and although she couldn’t see it, she could perceive the change.

She quickly understood what it was and laughed. "Impressive. To think you would achieve such a state, old man. I’m really impressed."

What she perceived were thousands of invisible, minute spearheads appearing and disappearing all around, piercing everything with lethal power.

In a way, they were visible but they were so small that eyes couldn’t see them. If Xiu had blindly rushed in, she would have been skewered alive by all those spearheads.

She grinned and said, raising her hand, "But you don’t think this is enough to stop me, right?"

Lightning descended from the skies, entering her body as she absorbed all of it. Her voice held crackling laughter.

"Watch closely, old man. This is the power of the Avatar of the Shattered Sky!"
