10x Rewards: Conquering Women and Taming Beauties-Chapter 51: Sophie Wakes Up
Moments later, I had dinner with Vale, the silence and tension between us still lingering.
Deciding to give her some time to reorganise herself, I didn’t bother her about what was on her mind.
As dinner was drawing to a close, a lady walked in. A succubus, to be exact, the one who’d tried to seduce me while I was taking a bath earlier.
A respectful expression appeared on her face as she addressed us the moment she entered.
The news had already spread of the change in power dynamics here at the mansion, so all the succubi already understood that I was in charge.
"Greetings, your highness," she said, her tone respectful and edged with something faintly sharp.
"What happened?" I asked, raising my brows as I dropped my fork onto the table.
She lingered briefly before replying, "The queen in the north has woken up."
"Took her long enough," a smile finally graced my lips as I glanced at her.
"I’ll join you shortly," I said, gesturing for her to leave.
Her eyes lingered on me a bit longer, and after biting her lip, it seemed as though she wanted to say something. However, glancing at Vale, she hesitated and ultimately decided against it.
"Vale," I turned to the beautiful lady, "you can join me if you’re interested."
Vale paused, then said evenly, "I might not be able to stop myself from killing her." Her tone was filled with coldness and killing intent, making me wonder what exactly had happened to cause the divide between the twin sisters.
Fortunately, I was about to find out.
"Don’t worry..." I said calmly, "you won’t." A faint pinkish hue briefly reflected in my pupils. It was mesmerizing enough to make Vale shiver slightly.
’That’s... my eyes... did he really obtain my eyes? How?’ Vale wondered in confusion.
Although there were all sorts of cursed abilities, was there truly anyone who could make humans obtain the abilities of cursed monsters?
The terrifying thought made Vale tremble subconsciously, her mind wandering to the fate of cursed monsters if I was given time to grow.
’Fortunately... he doesn’t seem to carry the sense of righteousness that all humans possess...’ she thought to herself, her expression still retaining hints of grimness.
"Okay..." finally pushing her myriad of thoughts aside, Vale replied smoothly and stood up, placing her fork on the table.
I wiped my mouth with a napkin and strode towards the chambers where Vale’s twin was kept.
...
Standing in front of the wooden door, I pushed it open without hesitation.
Instantly, my gaze landed on a blue-haired woman tied to the bed, her clothes and hair slightly dishevelled as she stared toward the distant window, as though lost in a myriad of thoughts.
Hearing the door open, she knew he had arrived.
Slowly, her eyes shifted toward a youth with flowing silver hair and silver eyes as bright as the moon.
Although he was extremely handsome, staring into his unfathomable eyes, she couldn’t help but feel a chill crawl up from the bottom of her spine.
"Sophie... we finally meet officially," I said with a smile, approaching her with light steps.
Sophie glanced up at me and scowled. Then she noticed Vale enter, and her eyes immediately turned complex before settling back into coldness.
"How interesting..." I said lightly.
Leaning closer to the bed, I held Sophie’s chin.
"I wonder... what exactly happened between the two of you that led to this divide?"
Sophie stared into my silver eyes, feeling as though she was being pulled into an endless, moonlit abyss. A shade of pink appeared within their depths.
"No—" Sophie tried to speak, however her voice faltered as soon as it began.
Her expression turned slightly dazed, and for a few seconds, it seemed as though she was fighting an internal battle.
Still, it wasn’t enough to overcome the effects of the Eyes of Avalon.
"I... killed our parents," Sophie finally said.
My eyes widened slightly in surprise.
"You bitch! You really admitted it, didn’t you?" Vale snarled and was about to lunge at her sister when I caught her hand.
"Calm down, Vale. Let’s hear her explanation."
Vale trembled in my grasp, her face betraying her shock.
Clearly, she was shaken by the fact that what she had believed to be the truth had actually turned out to be real.
Seeing that Vale had stopped herself, I turned back to Sophie. "Why did you kill them?"
Sophie lingered for a moment before looking up at me, staring straight into my eyes as her emotionless voice echoed.
"Some years back, at night, I heard them discussing performing a ritual to extract my sister’s and my eyes. Naturally, understanding that cursed beasts don’t have much human emotion toward each other, I knew we were both in danger.
"After researching for a bit, I found out that such a secret technique truly existed. So I eliminated them before they had the chance..."
An exhausted sigh escaped her lips, and she seemed drained after saying those words.
The pinkish hue in her eyes receded, and she regained herself.
Staring at her sister’s frozen expression, filled with shock, Sophie understood that the truth was finally out.
"I tried to explain to you, sister, but you wouldn’t listen." Sophie wore a wry smile.
"You..." Vale’s voice croaked as she trembled, taking an involuntary step back. This time, she was shaken to her core.
Noticing that she was about to collapse, my hand smoothly wrapped around her slender waist, holding her firmly.
Feeling the warmth of my chest, Vale leaned into my arms, soft sniffles echoing through the quiet room.
"I..." she tried to speak, but only sobs came out.
Comparing the composed Vale from before, who exuded maturity, to the woman now crying into my shoulder stirred something faint within me.
"It’s alright..." I gently rubbed her hair, and she let more of her emotions spill out.
A few minutes of silence passed before Vale finally calmed down.
After mouthing a quiet "thank you," she pulled away, her face slightly flushed from the embarrassment.
She quickly regained her composure and looked at her sister.
"Then why did you allow me to almost kill you every time we encountered each other?" Vale asked, her tone edged with confusion.
Sophie laughed softly, her gaze lingering before she replied, "I knew you didn’t have it in you to truly kill me."
Vale was dumbfounded, but deep down, she knew there was truth in those words.
"You two can reunite later. However..." I interrupted, shifting my attention to Sophie.
Sophie’s expression changed slightly, a bad premonition surfacing in her heart.
"Sophie," my deep voice echoed, "I’m sure you’ve noticed that I have your sister’s eyes?"
She paused, then slowly nodded.
Vale’s lips twitched slightly at my words.
I didn’t beat around the bush. "I’m particularly interested in your eyes as well... I want them."
Sophie’s expression shifted as my words sank in.
"Do I even have a choice?" she asked quietly.
"I’m a gentleman," I said calmly.
"What?" Sophie tilted her head in confusion.
"Aristarkh, he..." Vale’s face flushed slightly as she explained, "he isn’t stealing your eyes, he’s just copying them."
"What does that have to do with him being a gentleman?" Sophie tilted her head again, even more confused.
