A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 124: Beanie’s Daddy Is Dead
So infuriating!
But there was absolutely nothing Vivian Quincy could do about it.
Seeing that arrogant, smug, domineering look Jasper Ford gave her as he was leaving, Vivian Quincy felt an unprecedented sense of crisis.
She felt like her son was about to be snatched away from her.
The feeling was incredibly strong.
A woman’s powerful sixth sense told Vivian Quincy that Jasper Ford was very interested in her precious son.
Vivian Quincy even wondered if it was because Jasper Ford couldn’t have a son of his own, and with Madam Ford being so desperate for a grandson, that he was trying to lure Beanie into their family time and time again.
’It’s hopeless.’
Vivian Quincy thought she’d better warn Beanie to be on his guard against Jasper Ford!
But while the little guy was quite clever, the moment Jasper Ford said he would give him a toy, he acted as if he’d won the lottery. He happily sat on the floor with the toy from Jasper, playing with it in every way imaginable, his smile brighter than any flower.
Vivian Quincy couldn’t help but follow Beanie and Jasper Ford upstairs. She was visibly stunned when she saw the toy. It was a small automatic race car—not a simple remote-controlled one, but a smart RC car that could be disassembled, modified, and have its speed adjusted. A cheap version of something like this would cost at least two thousand yuan, while better ones were even more expensive—far beyond what a working-class person like Vivian Quincy could afford.
Besides, she remembered Beanie not seeming to like this sort of thing; he had never asked her to buy one. The only toys Beanie had ever asked her to buy were building blocks and a Rubik’s cube.
Watching her precious son looking so happy he was about to roll on the floor with a toy someone else had given him, Vivian Quincy, standing in the doorway, couldn’t help but look away. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
She couldn’t bear to look at Beanie’s smiling face. She felt she had let him down terribly.
Because it was only at this very moment that Vivian Quincy realized she didn’t even know what Beanie truly liked. It was just... she couldn’t afford the things he wanted.
This child had known how to be considerate of others from a young age.
When he was bullied at kindergarten, he would come home and not say a word about it to her.
Vivian Quincy felt that the person she had wronged the most in her life was Beanie. She had failed to fulfill her duties as a mother.
Her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
Vivian Quincy took a deep breath, remaining at the doorway, never once stepping inside to look.
Inside the room, Jasper Ford was busy charming the little guy. Seeing Beanie’s smile, sweeter than anything, he chuckled and said, "It’s just a toy car. Is it really worth being this happy?"
"Of course I’m happy! This is the first time in my life I’ve ever gotten a toy car. Thank you, Uncle Jasper." Beanie hugged the toy car and beamed at Jasper Ford, his soft, sweet voice absolutely delightful.
Jasper Ford especially loved watching Beanie smile. He thought he looked like a little angel. In this respect, he was very similar to Vivian Quincy. When Vivian Quincy smiled, she was also particularly beautiful, like a great angel...
As soon as he thought this, Jasper Ford suddenly felt he was going insane. To actually think that a greedy, wicked woman like Vivian Quincy was an angel... He suddenly felt a bit disgusted, even nauseous!
He snorted coldly and said, "Doesn’t your mommy buy you toys?"
"She..." Beanie subconsciously glanced at Vivian Quincy outside the door and lowered his voice to a whisper. "She doesn’t have money."
Then, the little guy went back to playing with his little race car.
He knew this thing was very expensive. He had seen it before when he went to the supermarket with his mommy. Moreover, the one Uncle Jasper had bought him was a collector’s edition, which was even more valuable. Beanie recognized it at a glance, so he was only playing with it for a bit, being very careful not to break it. After a few minutes, he gave it back to Jasper Ford.
Jasper Ford said, "It’s a gift for you."
"No, I can’t take your things." Beanie shook his head firmly.
Knowing that Vivian Quincy had been waiting outside for quite a while, Beanie felt bad making her wait any longer. He scrambled up from the floor, his small body trotting over to Vivian Quincy. His big eyes sparkled with a beautiful light as he said with a smile, "Let’s go home."
"You’re not staying for dinner?" Vivian Quincy asked, surprised.
Beanie shook his head. "No, let’s go back and eat the food you make."
"Good boy." Vivian Quincy smiled happily, holding Beanie’s small hand as they walked downstairs.
Madam Ford was in the middle of preparing dinner and refused to let Vivian Quincy and her son leave, insisting that they had to eat their fill before going.
After Vivian Quincy left with Beanie, Madam Ford grew displeased again and couldn’t help but scold Jasper Ford harshly, "What is wrong with you?"
"What did I do now?" Jasper Ford had no idea how he had angered his mother.
Madam Ford said, "Beanie’s daddy is dead, and he died so tragically! The poor child is all alone in the world. Can’t you think of a way to make him stay with our family?"
"Mom, he’s someone else’s child," Jasper Ford couldn’t help but remind her.
Hearing this, Madam Ford became displeased again. "How dare you say he’s someone else’s? You’re so handsome, with such excellent prospects, how can you not even find a girlfriend?"
Jasper Ford had no desire to engage with his mother.
Madam Ford chased after him. "Why are you running off? I have something to ask you."
"What is it?" The man stopped in his tracks.
Madam Ford said, "What’s the relationship between that little assistant of yours and Hayden?"
"No relationship." Jasper Ford’s brow furrowed involuntarily at the mention of Hayden Kaye’s name.
Madam Ford said, "I heard from Hayden’s mother that he’s been acting a bit strange lately, constantly taking money from the family. Is he chasing after a girl?"
"Vivian Quincy didn’t take his money." Jasper Ford was very certain about this.
Madam Ford cut Jasper Ford off. "What are you thinking? That’s not what I meant. I’m trying to tell you that Hayden, who doesn’t even have much money, knows to ask his family for cash to woo girls. You, on the other hand, have countless digits in your bank balance, more money than you can spend, so how is it that you can’t find a single girl?"
"Jasper, are you really not interested in women?"
Madam Ford asked this last question with utmost seriousness!
Jasper Ford was stunned for a moment. He never expected his own mother to say such a thing. He didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Mom, what are you thinking?"
"Just tell me the truth. If you are, I need to prepare myself mentally." Madam Ford had been pondering this for a long time. Although the answer would be very difficult for her to accept, if her son really did like men, she wouldn’t stand in the way of his happiness.
’Worst case scenario, we’ll just adopt a child...’
"Mom, don’t tell me you’re thinking about luring Beanie back home to inherit the family fortune again?" Jasper Ford guessed what was on his mother’s mind in an instant.
Madam Ford nodded solemnly. "I do have that thought. Who told you to be so unreliable?"
"Fine." Jasper Ford was mentally exhausted and didn’t want to explain further. He felt his mother’s desperation for a grandchild had made her go a little crazy.
’That Beanie Quincy... no matter how you look at it, he’s still someone else’s kid. Most importantly, his father is unknown, and his mother is a wicked, greedy woman who would sell her body for money. Even if a child raised by someone like that came to the Ford family, he wouldn’t necessarily turn out the way Madam Ford wishes...’
