A Heaven-sent Sweet Child Falls Asking for Hugs-Chapter 141: As Long as Beanie Quincy Dies
Wanda Quincy couldn’t fathom what Jasper Ford was thinking. He was in a bad mood, and she, his fiancée, was trying to cheer him up. Why was he giving her such an attitude?
Wanda Quincy felt aggrieved. Lowering her head, she bit her lip and said pitifully, "If you don’t want me to talk, I’ll just be quiet. But I was only thinking of you. I said all that just to try and cheer you up."
"Just don’t talk," the man uttered, the words rolling off his tongue with a cold grace.
’He has absolutely no class!’
Wanda Quincy suddenly had the feeling that Jasper Ford hadn’t asked her out on a date at all. An inexplicable sadness washed over her, but though she was angry, she didn’t dare to voice it.
The dishes arrived, and Jasper Ford picked up his chopsticks.
Eager to please, Wanda Quincy proactively placed some food on Jasper Ford’s plate. She didn’t know what she’d done to displease him, but his expression darkened, and he stopped eating.
"Is the food not to your taste?" Wanda Quincy asked gingerly.
Jasper Ford said, "Go ahead and eat."
"Jasper, are you disgusted with me?" Wanda Quincy couldn’t think of any other explanation.
The man didn’t answer. He leaned back in his chair, casually pulled out an unread document, and began to review it with intense focus.
Of the whole table of food, only Wanda Quincy was eating. It seemed Jasper Ford’s gaze hadn’t lingered on her even once the entire time.
At first, Vivian Quincy’s party didn’t notice them. However, Wanda Quincy’s outfit was so outrageous that it naturally drew attention. They hadn’t even been seated for half an hour before Beanie spotted them.
"What’s Ninth Uncle doing here?" Hayden Kaye was the most shocked of all. He had just called Jasper Ford a short while ago and had lied to him. If Jasper discovered him with Vivian Quincy, he would surely think he was a liar and fly into a rage!
’What do I do!’
Hayden Kaye looked flustered.
But Beanie asked, "Uncle Kaye, are you that scared of him?"
Hayden Kaye replied, his voice tinged with deep resignation, "You don’t know my Ninth Uncle."
"I do know," Beanie said. "He’s short-tempered, he likes to bully people, and he’s a liar."
Hayden Kaye lowered his head in shock. "Beanie, you don’t like him?"
"Not really," Beanie said with a pout, his soft, sweet voice pleasant to the ear.
Hayden Kaye’s mood suddenly lifted. While he wasn’t particularly fond of Beanie, the boy was Vivian Quincy’s son. Hayden knew that if he wanted to reconcile with Vivian, he had to accept Beanie.
His voice softened. "Then does Beanie like me?"
Beanie paused, looking up and blinking his big, beautiful eyes. After a moment, he shook his head. "I like the people my mommy likes."
"Your mommy likes me!" Hayden Kaye exclaimed happily, placing some food on the little one’s plate. Perhaps he was too excited, because his voice was quite loud.
In the distance, Jasper Ford, who had been "pretending" to read his document, looked over toward the sound.
Wanda Quincy hastily put down her chopsticks, hitting her hand on the table and letting out a pained grunt to draw Jasper Ford’s attention. But his gaze had already swept in Vivian Quincy’s direction, and Wanda’s face turned deathly pale.
"Jasper, that hurts," she said, feigning distress.
Jasper Ford shot a cold glance at Vivian Quincy in the distance, a disdainful sneer playing on his lips. "If it hurts, then bear it."
"Won’t you comfort me? I’m really in pain," Wanda Quincy cooed.
The man’s expression remained icy. "No."
Wanda Quincy was left speechless.
More accurately, she didn’t know what to say. But she finally understood why Jasper Ford had suddenly agreed to have dinner with her.
Jasper Ford must have known all along that Vivian Quincy and her group were here.
A woman’s intuition is just that irrational. Even though Jasper Ford hadn’t done or said a thing, Wanda Quincy was positive he had come here because of Vivian Quincy.
’Vivian Quincy...’
The hand at Wanda Quincy’s side clenched into a tight fist. She was furious, yet she had to force a smile and pretend nothing was wrong, lowering her head to continue eating.
Her phone buzzed. Unsure who the text was from, Wanda Quincy opened it. A cold smile touched her lips when she saw the sender’s name.
"We’re leaving," the man said abruptly.
Wanda Quincy quickly shoved her phone into her purse and looked up. "Can you wait a moment? I’m not finished eating."
Jasper Ford was impatient; he had noticed Vivian Quincy’s group was getting ready to leave.
Wanda Quincy was aware of all this. She was deliberately trying to keep Jasper Ford there. Their table was right by the window, offering an excellent view. Staying put was the best option.
But Jasper Ford had no intention of waiting for Wanda. He went straight to pay the bill and headed downstairs, a step ahead of Vivian Quincy’s party. Left with no choice, Wanda Quincy could only hurry after him.
"Jasper, are you in a rush? You barely ate anything," Wanda Quincy asked anxiously.
At the same time, Vivian Quincy and Hayden Kaye’s group also came downstairs, running right into the other two.
Vivian Quincy and Anna said nothing, but Hayden Kaye was mortified. Caught red-handed by Jasper Ford, he flushed and said sheepishly, "What a coincidence, Ninth Uncle."
"Weren’t you at the office? What are you doing with a woman like her?" Jasper Ford’s gaze was piercing.
An immense pressure emanated from him in an instant, and the others nearby felt the collateral damage.
Anna instinctively grabbed Vivian Quincy’s sleeve. ’Oh my god, Jasper Ford’s aura is terrifying! When he’s angry, he looks like he could skin someone alive. So scary!’
Beanie couldn’t help but inch closer to Vivian Quincy.
Hayden Kaye, looking thoroughly disgraced and not daring to talk back, mumbled, "I was passing by your company, Ninth Uncle, when I got off work, so I came to have dinner with them."
"Hayden, it seems you’re getting bolder," Jasper Ford said, narrowing his eyes dangerously. He was a menacing presence even without showing any overt anger.
Hayden Kaye quickly tried to explain. "I was wrong, Ninth Uncle. Please don’t be angry. I was just hungry and lonely and wanted some company for dinner. Please don’t be mad at me."
"Go home and reflect on your actions for three days. If I see you anywhere near Imperium Group during that time, you’d better watch your legs." Jasper Ford’s handsome face betrayed no anger, but his words were enough to make one’s skin crawl.
Hayden Kaye wanted to plead his case, but the moment he opened his mouth, a glacial stare from Jasper Ford forced the words back down his throat. Not daring to protest further, he turned and whispered to Vivian Quincy, "Let me take you guys home first."
Vivian Quincy stole a glance at Jasper Ford and saw that his gaze never once lingered on her. ’He probably doesn’t care about me,’ she thought, so she nodded in agreement. Almost at the exact moment Vivian agreed, the air around them grew even colder. She couldn’t help but pull her clothes tighter, wondering why it felt so cold when it wasn’t even winter.
The group followed Hayden Kaye across the street toward the temporary parking on the other side.
Wanda Quincy, who had been standing silently behind Jasper Ford, saw a small truck slowly approaching in the distance and sneered inwardly.
Just as Vivian Quincy’s group paused to let the vehicle pass before crossing, the small truck suddenly accelerated, hurtling toward them!
Wanda Quincy’s smile was venomous. ’As long as Beanie Quincy is dead, I’ll have nothing left to worry about!’
