A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 45: WHAT KIND OF MONSTER I AM
Chapter 45: WHAT KIND OF MONSTER I AM
"So, it's the rogues. They are counting on rogues to aid them in their coup?" King Dacre looked relaxed when he heard the information, while Khaos looked nonchalant as he walked beside him.
The king had a fresh rose in his hand that he plucked from his garden, as they walked toward the north palace, where Princess Nycta stayed. She would be the queen of this kingdom by the end of summer.
"He did not seek rogues alone. Xaden has also been in contact with the Great Lunar kingdom."
Dacre stopped walking, he looked at Khaos with amusement. "Do you think he can pull off such a deal with them?"
"Yes. I think he can."
Dacre narrowed his eyes and then continued to walk. "I underestimated him."
They arrived at the north palace, where Princess Nycta and her two other sisters had been waiting for the king's visit.
"I will take my leave." Khaos had said what he needed him to know, but Dacre stopped him.
"You still have not yet told me which princess you will take as the luna of the pack."
Khaos stopped for a while, he didn't even spare the princesses a glance. "I have someone in mind," he said, which made Dacre raise his brows in surprise.
"Really? Who is that?"
"I will tell you when the time comes."
And he left before the king could stop him again. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Dacre smirked, he wondered which woman had managed to capture his attention, but right now, there was something that he needed to do first.
"King Dacre," the three princesses greeted the king in unison.
"Can I have Princess Nycta for myself?" Dacre asked. He dismissed Princess Alana and Princess Rose. The two of them left and Nycta was there alone with the king. "I want to show you something." He stretched out his hand to take Nycta's hand.
She was so young. Very young and fertile. She was only seventeen, while Dacre would be thirty four this winter.
Nycta followed the king, she looked bashful when the king held her hand, while the warriors and maids followed behind them.
Her beautiful brown eyes were full of delight because the king treated her gently. She heard the king had never had a mistress when he was with her sister, the previous queen, which made her become even more happy with the prospect of this marriage.
"I will give you healthy children, My King. You don't need to worry about that," Nycta said in a small, sheepish voice, which made Dacre laugh.
"Of course, you will." He pulled her closer and put his arm around her waist. "That will be your first duty."
Dacre took her to the garden and sat there, as the maids immediately tended to their needs. The king waved his hand to gesture for three warriors to come forward.
"As you will become the Queen of this kingdom, I want you to choose your personal warrior."
Nycta looked surprised, but she was overjoyed with the king's thoughtfulness. "Thank you, My King." She looked at the three warriors and chose the one named Killian.
"Good choice." Dacre leaned over and kissed her cheek.
By the end of the summer, the royal wedding was held. The festivities would last for seven days and seven nights. It was so lively with a lot of attractions. The people celebrated it too, as the palace sent out endless food and drinks for the people in the capital.
There were a lot of people that came from various cities, towns and packs, therefore you could see a lot of strangers there.
This was a great time to sneak the rogues in without anyone being the wiser.
The streets were packed with a lot of people. They sang and danced, chanting their gratitude for the king and their wishes for the new queen.
People didn't sleep until the sun rose and continued to party again until night.
The same thing happened in the palace. The union between the two kingdoms was majestic and ethereal. The crowning ceremony was solemn and running smoothly without any hiccup.
On the fourth night of the party, where all the highborns danced to the music, Khaos approached Zuri, who was standing alone. She was wearing a dark blue dress that accentuated her curves. Her long hair cascaded down behind her back. She looked out of place.
"Are you talking to someone that I couldn't see?" Khaos greeted Zuri. From afar, he could see her lips move, as if she was talking in a low voice. Unless there was someone near her that she was talking to, she must be talking to herself.
Zuri was startled when she saw Khaos was there. She had not seen him during the first three days of the ongoing celebrations.
"There are voices in my head that keep telling me to do stupid things. I am telling them to stop." She reciprocated his smile.
Xaden had gone to prepare for what he was going to do tomorrow. On the fifth night, the history of this kingdom would change.
"What stupid things were those voices telling you to do?" Khaos offered her his hand and she took it. He pulled her to the middle of the dance floor, where they could talk closely without anyone being suspicious of their closeness.
"The voices keep telling me to cause trouble in this party."
"Such as?"
Zuri blinked her eyes, unsure as to why she had brought it up, but she was sure Khaos wouldn't take what she was saying seriously, thus she continued telling him the truth.
"Shift into my beast and attack the King or the new queen. Or any random people who are near
me."
"I am close to you."
Zuri looked at him for a while. "I just realized..."
"What is it?" He spun her body and caught her again. His hand was on her waist.
"The voices in my head never told me to harm you." She liked being in his arms.
Khaos chuckled. "Maybe, they were scared of me, as they knew what kind of monster I am."
