A Mate For The Last Lycan-Chapter 46: THERE WOULD BE NO ’LATER’
Chapter 46: THERE WOULD BE NO 'LATER'
"Are you sure you still want me?" Khaos asked. He pulled her even closer, as she wrapped her arms around his neck. If they were not in this situation, they would surely be the center of attention for how inappropriately close they were.
Zuri stared into his gray eyes. "I survived everything life has thrown at me so far, so I believe I can survive your monster as well." He didn't even know what kind of monster that kept whispering intrusive thoughts into her mind.
Meanwhile, Zuri was unaware of the kind of life she had committed to when she agreed to be with Khaos.
"Life is more than just survival, Zuri," Khaos said. It was so rare for him to call her by name, which made this conversation feel more intimate and... rather sinful. "Sometimes, it's just revenge and endless schemes."
Khaos twirled her one more time and then knelt down to kiss the back of her hand as the music ended.
"Great Lunar kingdom," Zuri said, as Khaos rose to his full height and she bent her knees slightly to appreciate the dance. "They have been in touch and they will attack tomorrow."
It was crucial and potentially fatal information that Zuri gave to Khaos. It would put Xaden and her father on the death row, yet that was what she wanted for them. freeweɓnovel.cøm
"When everything is over, you might think that you have made a terrible mistake by giving me this piece of information."
"Perhaps, I am making a terrible mistake. But, it is still my decision to make."
And after that, they parted ways. Zuri had given the crucial detail to Khaos and that night would be the last night she spent with Xaden. Unless, by some miracle, Xaden and her father still managed to dethrone King Dacre after all the information that Zuri had relayed to Khaos.
That night, Zuri gave her all to Xaden. Probably, there was some part of her heart that was not broken yet, that felt guilty to be the reason for her own mate's impending death.
Xaden kissed her again, readjusting himself on top of Zuri. He lifted his hips, and she pushed down the disgusting feeling that rose in her heart.
Zuri bit her lip instead, she felt like she wanted to gag when his eyes fell on her bare skin as he removed her dress and undergarments completely, he leaned down to capture her lips and knead her breasts.
Zuri closed her eyes, she was wet and when his warm breath caressed her skin and both of them started to moan, he released her breasts and jerked her hips up.
Xaden pushed into her in one swift thrust that had Zuri parting her lips, as she started to gasp for air. He rocked his hips, and she realized he went deeper, filling her to the fullest.
"Look at me," Xaden said with a voice that was filled with lust and longing, desire oozed from his eyes as he stared at Zuri.
Everything in her was strung tightly, just waiting to break. The more he moved, the more intense this feeling she got.
Zuri's claws dug into his shoulders as he continued to watch the myriad of expressions on his mate's face by his every thrust.
The feeling was overwhelming. It almost felt like that time when they spent the night together for the first time, when Zuri thought she could make this union work and finally she managed to free herself from her father's clutches.
How wrong she was.
"Oh, you are so tight, Zuri. I am sure you will get pregnant after this." He wrapped his arm around her neck, strangling her.
Zuri cried out and thrashed beneath him wildly, while he grunted, his hips jerking against her, as he found his own release.
And when he was done, Zuri was gasping for air, she coughed so hard, as her face turned red. She didn't get her release, but she was so close to being killed by Xaden during their intimate moment.
Zuri pushed him away, feeling the need to create a safe distance between them. She felt pathetic. Sometimes, she wanted to die, she tempted death, but when she was close to it, she felt this rage.
"That must be a little bit rough for you," Xaden said, as he approached Zuri, who was kneeling on the floor, crying, holding her neck. Her vision was blurry and her lungs were on fire, while her throat was in so much pain.
"You almost killed me!" Zuri growled at him. Feeling both pathetic and angry at herself for still being afraid of death.
'Very pathetic. You wanted to die, right?'
'Why would you care if he kills you?'
'Let him kill you.'
'Once they go down, you will have nothing. It's not like Khaos wants you.'
'You were someone else's mate. Do you think he wants a broken woman, someone that has been used by another man?'
'Be real. Khaos can get any woman that he wants. He was nice to you only because you are useful, but once the hunt is done, the hound will be useless.'
Xaden knelt down beside Zuri. "I didn't mean to do that." He patted her shoulder. "Come, I will clean you up." He didn't forget to take good care of her after the deed, but this time, Zuri swatted his hands and stood up.
"I can do it myself." She called for Sarah and Esther to prepare the bath, while Xaden put on his clothes.
"We will talk about this later." Xaden leaned over and kissed her lips. "I need to prepare for the final plan tomorrow."
Xaden walked toward the door, but before he could leave, Zuri called for him.
"You didn't send Faye to the warrior's quarters. You didn't make her a slave."
He stopped walking and turned his body slowly, as if he was thinking of a way to get himself
out of this situation. "We will talk about this later."
"There will be no 'later'," she said.
"Not now. Later." And then he left.
