A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm-Chapter 1376: Final Chance
Chapter 1376: Final Chance
Gu Huojin began to chant a complex incantation, and layers of golden ripples surged out of his body like waves crashing against the shore.
Nothing was able to obstruct these golden ripples, whether it be space or tangible objects, and they quickly spread out of the Middle Earth Immortal Region entirely.
At this moment, the four heavenly gates of the Middle Earth Immortal Region resembled massive horns, amplifying the golden ripples before transmitting them across the entire True Immortal Realm.
All of the immortal regions under the heavens were basked in the golden ripples at once, and ordinary mortals and average cultivators were completely oblivious to this. Even True Immortals and Golden Immortals only had a vague sense of what was happening, while only those at or above the High Zenith Stage were able to detect the changes taking place in heaven and earth.
However, even if they noticed the changes, there wasn't anything that they could do.
Specks of light lit up all over the giant go-board-like array in the heavens at Gu Huojin's behest, and it was giving off indescribable law power fluctuations.
"This marks the beginning of the new world. All of you are very fortunate to be able to witness this," he said with a smile, and as soon as his voice trailed off, the entire array began to glow with blinding radiance.
Immediately thereafter, it transformed into a series of massive pillars of light that erupted into the heavens, tearing through the Astralsphere, the Ethersphere, and the Extraheavensphere to reach even further beyond.
Meanwhile, the sub-venue on the Eastern Victory Continent had descended into a state of complete chaos. Daoist Master Qing Qiu naturally had a clearer sense of the disturbance in the air than everyone else, and he turned to discover that a giant pillar of golden light had erupted into the heavens from his daoist temple, and its origin was none other than the nondescript Heaven Guard Pavilion.
At this moment, the entire pavilion was enshrouded in golden light, and its base, which was no more than two hundred feet in size, was connected to an enormous array that spanned tens of thousands of kilometers in radius, and runes of all types of different colors were rising up into the heavens from the array incessantly.
The same phenomenon was also taking place in the Heaven Guard Pavilions on the other three continents as well, and the battles taking place there instantly drew to a halt.
A sense of indescribable panic welled up in everyone's hearts as they sensed the waves of all-encompassing power sweeping over the landscape.
Daoist Master Qing Qiu had been stationed in that Heaven Guard Pavilion for no fewer than thirty million years, and even though he was rather lackadaisical and hadn't ever carefully examined the pavilion, it was still astonishing that a Dao Ancestor like him had failed to detect such a powerful array lurking beneath it this entire time.
What was even more alarming was that the law powers in his body were beginning to seep out as translucent threads before flying toward the enormous pillar of light in the distance.
He looked around in bewilderment to discover that the same thing was happening to everyone around him, and as more and more translucent law threads rose up into the sky, then began to intertwine with one another to form a huge, colorful net up above.
Someone finally realized that everyone present had been reduced to lambs for the slaughter, and he yelled, "Run!"
......
Everyone, regardless of which powers they were affiliated with, set aside their differences to flee the scene, and many of them were making a mad dash for the teleportation arrays in the eastern heavenly gate in an attempt to leave the Middle Earth Immortal Region altogether.
However, upon reaching the teleportation arrays, they discovered that the energy fluctuations released by the pillar of light had already completely disrupted all of the law powers on this continent, including the laws of space, rendering the teleportation arrays completely useless.
In light of this, everyone turned and fled toward the eastern heavenly gate, and they were desperate to escape this place as quickly as possible. Otherwise, as more and more of their law powers were leached from their bodies, it would eventually become impossible for them to get away. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"What exactly are you trying to do, Supreme Lord?" Daoist Master Qing Qiu murmured to himself as he cast his gaze toward the Heavenly Palace Immortal Region.
After a brief pause, he sighed, "Regardless of what you're plotting, I wish to play no further part in all of this..."
He then turned and flew out of the eastern heavenly gate as a streak of white light without so much as even a backward glance.
However, right at this moment, the heavenly gate suddenly shuddered violently, and the paint on its pillars and the archway at the center peeled away to reveal the engraved runes underneath.
Those runes lit up with piercing, golden radiance while giving off bursts of peculiar energy fluctuations, and the cultivators that had just rushed into the gate didn't even have a chance to register what was happening before they were devoured by a giant vortex that had abruptly appeared out of thin air, instantly reducing their bodies to dust.
Immediately thereafter, a huge pillar of golden light erupted out of the vortex, and Daoist Master Qing Qiu instantly felt a burst of tremendous suction force begin to act upon him from behind.
He frantically redoubled his efforts to get away, but the translucent law threads flowing out of his body were sucked in by the pillar of light, forcibly dragging him back into the vortex in the heavenly gate.
With even a Dao Ancestor like him unable to escape the vortex's clutches, everyone else naturally wasn't able to fare any better, and the same thing was happening in all four heavenly gates.
The entire Middle Earth Immortal Region had transformed into a slaughterhouse, and no one that possessed law powers of any attribute was able to get away.
......
Heavenly Palace Continent.
All of the clouds in the sky above the Jade Pond Paradise had evaporated as if they had been scorched away, revealing an inky black extrarealm space up above.
Within this space was a chaotic vortex that was gradually expanding, and Gu Huojin was standing beneath the vortex, observing the entire Middle Earth Immortal Region with a look of excitement in his eyes.
Compared with the sub-venues, the situation in the Jade Pond Paradise was even more horrific, with countless law threads rising up toward the vortex high up in the sky.
Over half of the cultivators present had already perished in battle, and around half of those that were left had met their demise after having the law powers sucked out of their bodies.
A pleased look finally appeared in Gu Huojin's eyes upon seeing this.
With more and more law powers flowing into the array, it would be enhanced further and further, and before long, the entire True Immortal Realm would succumb to its power.
In order to change the world, one had to possess the power and resolve to destroy it first.
Right at this moment, he suddenly raised an eyebrow as something caught his attention.
It was Li Yuanjiu with his palms raised to the heavens, and golden light was flowing incessantly out of his hands into a palm-sized vial hovering above his head.
Golden, red, blue, green, and yellow light were surging out of the mouth of the vial, forming a five-colored umbrella of light that encompassed an area with a radius of roughly a thousand feet around him.
Under the protection of the umbrella, he was able to remain completely unaffected by the array.
There were around a dozen more figures standing behind him, also taking shelter under the five-colored umbrella, two of whom were Meng Po and Yu Menghan.
The two of them had refrained from consuming their Bodhi Dao Fruits, so they didn't fall under the control of the Divine Dao Seal and were able to get far away from the battlefield. However, in the wake of the array's activation, they knew that they wouldn't be able to get away, so they could only seek out Li Yuanjiu's protection.
Li Yuanjiu initially didn't want to protect them, but with everyone else dead or on death's doorstep, he had to muster up what few allies he could to oppose Gu Huojin.
As was the case with Chi Rong, Chen Ruyan had also had the power of the Divine Dao Seal sucked out of her body by the small vial, and the three of them had temporarily forged an alliance.
"Li Yuanjiu, you were the latest addition to the Seven Heavenly Dao Ancestors, and you were the least loyal to me, but you were smarter than all of the rest. Unfortunately, your power is required to completely activate this array, so I'll have to ask you to surrender yourself over to me," Gu Huojin said.
"Gu Huojin, I knew you were plotting something insidious, but I didn't think you would go this far... If you want my power, then you'll have to come and take it yourself!" Li Yuanjiu spat through gritted teeth.
A faint smile appeared on Gu Huojin's face, and he wasted no time with words as he pointed a finger at the swirling vortex up above.
A burst of thunderous rumbling rang out within the chaotic vortex, following which a beam of gray light shot out from within to strike the five-colored umbrella above Li Yuanjiu.
The five-colored light barrier shuddered violently, then began to rapidly fade.
"If you don't want to die, then help me power this vial!" Li Yuanjiu hurriedly urged upon seeing this, and everyone under the umbrella of five-colored light immediately began injecting their power into the vial.
At the moment, the dozen or so figures under the umbrella of five-colored light included six Dao Ancestors, namely Li Yuanjiu, Chi Rong, Chen Ruyan, and True Lord Cang Wu's trio, so their collective power was certainly nothing to be scoffed at.
There were many cultivators nearby who still hadn't had all of the law powers drained from their bodies yet, and they were forced to set aside their differences as they trudged arduously toward Li Yuanjiu.
With the inclusion of more and more people, the five-colored light barrier was bolstered to the extent that it was able to temporarily ward off the beam of gray light.
