A Transmigrated Princess's Guide To A Fluffy Royal Life!-Chapter 63: You Said No Drama
Chapter 63: You Said No Drama
Her brothers were immediately there as though summoned, pulling her away from Lucien, and into the crowd with cheers and prideful ruffling of hair.
"That was amazing!" Jared whooped. "You actually didn’t trip over your own feet!"
"Not even once," Lance added, impressed.
"I did five years ago," Felix admitted, rubbing the memory of his scraped knee. "Twice."
Lucien, however, was watching Caelith. Not smiling. Not clapping. Just...watching.
Seraphina stepped forward and placed a protective hand on Evelisse’s shoulder. "Let’s allow the children a rest. You’ve all earned it."
"But I’m not even tired, mommy," Evelisse whispered.
"You look like your brain is running laps," Seraphina replied softly.
She wasn’t wrong.
Caelith said nothing. Just watched her go, one hand lightly folded behind his back, the other holding the tassel of his ceremonial sash.
As they walked, Evelisse’s hands trembled. Her fingers dug into her skirt.
Fluffy curled on her shoulder. "...Do you want to talk about it?"
’No.’
"Want to pretend none of that happened and drown your confusion in spiced moon-pudding?"
’...Maybe.’
The festival moved into the garden terrace of the duchess’s estate. Cushioned seats had been arranged in floating circles. Enchanted flowers sang lullabies.
Snugglewuff barked once, then tackled Evelisse and licked her face until she giggled breathlessly.
"Snugglewuff!" she gasped. "Not the face!"
"He missed you," Marcus said, sitting beside her. "Or maybe he just wanted some of your pudding."
Evelisse nuzzled into Snugglewuff’s soft fur, her heart still rattled. She peeked over his ears.
Caelith was talking to a duke now. Smiling, charming, perfectly proper. But every so often, he glanced back at her.
Not creepily. Not flirtatiously either.
Just... like he remembered something.
And every time he did, her skin went cold.
She leaned into Fluffy’s fluffy ear.
’How does he know? About Emily. About the hospital. That’s not... possible.’
Fluffy’s eyes gleamed. "There’s magic that peers across time. And magic that touches souls. But to know you like that?"
’You think he’s lying?’
"No," Fluffy said after a pause. "I think he thinks it’s true."
"Oi!" Jared yelped as a glowing bun bounced off his collar.
"Do not catapult the dumplings, Leo." Marcus said, calmly reaching to salvage the tray.
Seraphina rested a hand on Evelisse’s back. "Are you alright, love?"
"I—yes, Mommy."
But Seraphina’s eyes narrowed slightly. She knew a lie when she heard one.
"Perhaps just a little tired," the Queen offered, brushing a lock of Evelisse’s hair back. "You’ve done so well today."
Evelisse nodded.
Her tiara dimmed. She felt exposed. Off balance.
A noble child nearby gushed, "Prince Caelith is so handsome. Did you see how he moved like a breeze on the star path?!"
"Like he dances with time!" another squealed.
"Did you see how he looked at Princess Evelisse?"
"I heard he’s part divine!"
Evelisse shrunk further in her seat.
Lucien leaned over. "Ignore them."
"I’m trying."
Marcus passed her a candy moon cluster. "For courage."
"Thank you," she whispered.
Suddenly, Caelith rose.
The banquet quieted.
He stepped forward, raising a pale-blue crystal. "As is tradition in Elaris, I bring a gift for the royal house."
’Again?!’ Evelisse frowned but hid it out of curiosity.
The crystal unfolded like a flower in bloom, revealing a ring of swirling frost petals that hovered midair.
Gasps.
"It’s an Evercharm Bloom," Seraphina said in wonder. "They only grow in cursed mountain snow."
"For the princess," Caelith said softly. "A token of first meetings."
He stepped around the table—straight to Evelisse.
She stared.
’Is he doing this in front of everyone?!’
Fluffy vibrated. "Public. Gift. Flirting. Protocol breach. Sound the royal embarrassment alarm."
The flower floated before her. Waiting.
Evelisse swallowed.
Then reached out—and gently took it.
It dissolved on contact, swirling into snowflakes that drifted into her dress, leaving behind a small, frost-blue charm in the shape of a star.
Her tiara blinked sky blue.
’...Great.’
"Thank you, Prince Caelith," she said, voice soft but clear. "It is... very unique."
He smiled faintly. "I hoped it would suit someone like you."
More murmurs. More whispers. More eyes.
She bowed politely, and sat down fast.
Seraphina leaned in. "That was handled beautifully."
’I’m going to explode.’
The stars above began to twinkle in synchronized rhythm. A signal for the final firework show of the night.
Jared grabbed Evelisse’s hand. "C’mon! Best view is up on the floating balcony!"
"Race you!" Felix yelled.
Callum and Lance followed, laughing.
"Don’t fall off the edge," Lucien muttered. "Again."
They soared upward on a rising glass platform. Evelisse clutched Snugglewuff and tried to push Caelith’s words out of her mind.
She failed.
When the first firework burst—shaped like a fox and moon—she flinched.
Caelith appeared beside them just as a comet-shaped burst crackled across the sky.
"It’s breathtaking," he said softly.
Evelisse turned her head slowly. "Do your eyes always glow?"
He chuckled. "Only when I look at people who glow too."
She made a face. "That was cheesy."
"It was," he agreed. "But still true."
Evelisse shifted. "Where did you learn about... things beyond this life?"
Caelith tilted his head. "Dreams. Fragments. Perhaps nothing. Perhaps everything."
Evelisse raised a brow. "So... vague seer answer number 3?"
"I’ve studied the Veil," Caelith said calmly. "And walked its edge in dreams. That’s where I saw her."
Her.
Evelisse stiffened.
"I saw her," Caelith repeated, not breaking eye contact with Evelisse. "Before the soul returned to her body. Her light was... dim. But stubborn. Still burning. I never forgot that light."
She looked away quickly.
The fireworks blurred in her vision.
"I don’t remember you," she said.
He smiled gently. "You weren’t supposed to."
The show ended with a burst of gold stars.
The royal family descended.
The air was buzzing. Everyone was whispering.
About her.
About him.
About destiny.
Evelisse curled tighter into her seat, clutching Snugglewuff.
’I didn’t ask for this.’
She wanted to hide. To disappear into her guest room and never come out.
And that’s exactly what she did.
Once inside, she shut the door, climbed under her cloud-blanket, and glared at Fluffy.
’You said there’d be no drama.’
