A Twisted Love Affair-Chapter 234: Never stop scolding me"_1
She was practically hanging in mid-air, with Shen Jing’s arm draped around the man’s neck.
No point in making a fuss; tussling with a drunk was a thankless task, especially with a man who could toss her onto the roadside at any moment. More often than not, he’d leave her on the curb, tossing a wad of cash at her to hail a cab.
Right now, he seemed utterly plastered.
All Shen Jing could do was break the tense silence with a constant stream of muttering.
"If I were a journalist, I’d expose you. ’United Bank’s CEO goes on a drunken rampage, profits skyrocket, making those bloodthirsty capitalists under you fret and lose hair; they’d have to kneel before me, begging with dollars, ’Please don’t leak it, don’t leak it...’’"
Chuckling mockingly, Zhou Luchen’s lips curled with a trace of sarcasm. "I’d serve scandals to you every day."
Shen Jing’s chin rested on the man’s shoulder. "What else could you give?"
The incorrigibly flirtatious Zhou Luchen said nonchalantly, "A different beauty every day entering a hotel, for you to snap pictures."
In the past, she would have bitten down on Zhou Luchen’s shoulder immediately, but this time she didn’t seem too bothered. "Will you still be that twisted when you’re old?"
The strong arm clenching her backside suddenly tightened. "Are you done complaining yet?"
Shen Jing giggled. "You actually should be scolded. You do whatever you want; there’s nobody in this world who can tame you."
Zhou Luchen snorted and stopped. The luxury car behind him also halted, and someone got out to open a door.
The early morning fog was dense, and the air chilled. She hadn’t worn much when she left home, yet in this winter’s chill, she didn’t feel that cold.
Perhaps.
Zhou Luchen’s embrace was always so warm.
Shen Jing looked over his shoulder at the luxury car. "Just put me down here and let me go back by myself. It’s too far; walking back would be a hassle."
Zhou Luchen made no move to respond.
Shen Jing paused for a moment. "Do you really intend to carry me all the way home?"
His brows lifted slightly, his voice hazy. "Are you going to let me or not?"
Shen Jing parted her lips, about to speak, but Zhou Luchen’s eyes narrowed as he authoritatively cut her off. "I’ll carry you whether you agree or not."
Shen Jing pouted. "Where is your house?"
He answered with a trace of forthrightness, "The Long Island estate."
Estates on Long Island, the sanctuary of the wealthy.
No wonder he lived in such a massive estate; it was easy to feel lonely and empty.
"When I have time, I’ll visit to thank you... President Zhou, for your support."
The title ’President Zhou’ rolled off her tongue, the words spoken with a deliberate, affected softness.
After a brief silence, Zhou Luchen’s voice grew heavier. "You’re really not going back?"
Fiddling with her fingers, Shen Jing spoke softly, "No, I won’t go."
She had actually considered seeing her "sister," but it was just a cat. After three years apart, a cat living a life of luxury would hardly remember her. She’d lost the mood for such a pointless endeavor.
Zhou Luchen asked in a low voice, "Are you rejecting me?"
Her lashes fell. Shen Jing shook her head within his embrace. "No."
After staring at her for a few seconds, Zhou Luchen’s voice took on a teasing tone. "Do you want me to beg you?"
Shen Jing still shook her head. "No, not at all." 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
How could she dare expect a scion like him to chase a girl? If he were to pursue, a curious part of her was interested in seeing how such an incredibly proud nobleman would humble himself.
But that was highly unlikely.
Zhou Luchen laughed lightly. "If sweet talk won’t work, then it won’t. I certainly won’t beg."
What could possibly make him lower himself to beg? There was nothing and no one in this world worth him abandoning his dignity to pursue. Even if there were, he would never compromise his pride to stoop so low. Whatever he wanted, he always had his ruthless, underhanded means to get it.
Shen Jing raised her chin defiantly. "What’s so great about that? I wasn’t asking you to beg. Drunken fool, your words can’t be trusted anyhow."
