A Twisted Love Affair-Chapter 85: Where is my woman? (4)_1
Chapter 85: Where is my woman? (4)_1
Shen Jing was truly grateful to her great motherland, China. If she hadn’t met the officer, Brother Hong would have had her smuggled away.
Shen Jing stood at the main entrance, watching the Justice Envoy make a phone call nearby. The imposing uniform was practically the embodiment of the Justice Envoy; even with his temples visibly graying, the police captain was just so cool. So handsome, really!
"She’s safe."
On the other end of the call, the man hummed deeply. "Sorry to trouble you."
Captain Zhang replied, "It’s my job. We haven’t conducted a sweep in a while, so this was timely. Young people these days just don’t follow the law."
"How is she?" freewebnσvel.cѳm
"She looks a bit pitiful, her hair all messy."
Zhou Luchen was silent for a moment. "Don’t talk to her anymore. Your uniform probably scared her."
"..."
「That night.」
A truly sensational raid swept through the venue. Every section was surrounded and inspected, each person scrutinized. Two vanloads of personnel arrived and surrounded the place, making it impenetrable. That very night, the establishment was ordered to close down for rectification. It was probably the most sensational nightclub raid in years.
Shen Jing’s phone was found; a waitress at the club had picked it up, but it was broken. She also couldn’t find Liang Yingning, who was completely intoxicated and nowhere to be seen.
Captain Zhang glanced at Shen Jing. "Someone is coming to pick you up. Stay here and don’t wander off."
Hearing this, Shen Jing bowed towards the uniform. "Thank you so much. I didn’t know what to do. I’m so glad you came."
Captain Zhang looked deeply into Shen Jing’s eyes and smiled meaningfully. "We’ll find out what happened from the surveillance footage. Don’t worry, the law will handle it."
Shen Jing nodded obediently, then went back inside to look for Liang Yingning among the crowd of people squatting with their heads in their hands. Although she had escaped unharmed, she was still worried that the drunk Liang Yingning might have gotten into trouble.
Luckily, she finally spotted Liang Yingning in the crowd. It was the first time she had seen the Liang family’s second young lady in such a sorry state.
After Liang Yingning was processed and the inspection confirmed she had only been drinking and was otherwise fine, she ran towards Shen Jing, looking miserable.
"Jingjing!" Liang Yingning threw her arms around the gentle beauty. "You scared me to death! I almost couldn’t find you!"
"You reek of alcohol," Shen Jing said, pushing Liang Yingning away. "You scared me to death too."
Liang Yingning said, "Zhou Luchen was looking for you, I was looking for you, we all were! But we couldn’t find you, and then a little while later, the police came and raided the place."
Shen Jing only caught the first part of the sentence. Zhou Luchen knows I’m here?
Liang Yingning pulled Shen Jing away. "Let’s go home first. We’ll talk when we get home. I really can’t stand it here any longer. Tonight was too intense. I swear, I’m never coming out drinking again, not even if you beat me to death!"
Liang Yingning vowed to never set foot in a nightclub again; even if she felt like partying, she wouldn’t go. She vaguely remembered Zhou Luchen uttering those words: "You motherfucker." Her poor heart really couldn’t take it.
Shen Jing drove, taking Liang Yingning back to the Liang family home. The Liang family mansion was situated in a row of luxurious villas. As Shen Jing was turning the steering wheel to leave, Liang Yingning knocked on the car window, insisting on dragging her into the house for a glass of water before she left.
Shen Jing parked the car, opened the door, and got out.
"Second Miss is back."
As she entered with Liang Yingning, it wasn’t as brightly lit as she had imagined. Only a single lamp was on by the French staircase. Father Liang stood right in the middle of the staircase landing. The moment he saw Liang Yingning, his eyes sharpened, and he signaled a servant to fetch a stick.
"You unfilial daughter! Neglecting your duties all day, fooling around outside every night!"
Liang Yingning clutched her purse and hid behind Shen Jing. "Sorry, I didn’t want you to see me getting scolded."
Shen Jing didn’t move. It’s good to have a father to discipline you. She wished she had one, but she didn’t.
If her father were still alive and saw Luo Yuanping bullying her, he would definitely break Luo Yuanping’s leg. Definitely.
If her father were still alive and saw Feng Jian throw her little kitten off the building, he would have gotten her many, many more kittens. She would surely have a whole room full of them.
If her father were still alive, she wouldn’t be in Shanghai now, and who knows what kind of life she would be living. Would she be like Liang Yingning, getting punished and criticized by her father for not coming home at night? Probably not beaten, though. Her father doted on her the most.
Shen Jing looked up, watching Father Liang approach with a stern face. He hesitated with the stick for a long time but didn’t bring it down; in the end, he was only trying to scare Liang Yingning.
THUD!
The stick was thrown from Father Liang’s hand, hitting a nearby vase.
Liang Yingning peeked out, her voice choked with sobs. "Daddy, I’m sorry."
"Since you’ve brought a friend home, entertain her yourself." Father Liang turned to go upstairs, his tone still icy. "I’m going to bed."
At the same time, the Liang family servants finally switched on all the lights in the villa. The European-style decor was very classy.
Liang Yingning took Shen Jing’s arm and sat down on the sofa. "My dad didn’t scare you, did he?"
Shen Jing said, "Actually, your father cares a lot about you."
Liang Yingning pouted and gestured for a servant to bring some refreshments. "If he cared about me, he wouldn’t arrange for me to marry into the Chen Family." As she spoke, Liang Yingning personally poured milk for Shen Jing.
Shen Jing accepted the milk with both hands but didn’t drink it, nor did she reply to Liang Yingning.
The Liang family understood their own situation. For them, marriages were about matching social status and backgrounds; they only cared about alliances, not the men’s affections. Liang Yingning’s career path could have been much smoother. The Liang family was already in decline; becoming Mrs. Chen was Liang Yingning’s only way out.
"Stay at my place tonight; it’s too late to go back now," Liang Yingning said, already dashing upstairs. "Auntie, please prepare fresh bedding and new pajamas. My friend is staying with me."
"Certainly, Second Miss."
Liang Yingning bent down and beckoned with her finger. "Come on up."
