Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 345 fantastic news
[Donald’s Perspective]
I hadn’t expected Austin and Levi’s collusion with Henry to organize the Rebels to have a breakthrough so soon.
There wasn’t even a need to wait for Eric to regain consciousness and report to me all the clues and evidence he had gathered at Lilo Sea, for if I thought about it carefully, it wasn’t hard to trace the subtle connections between these events.
The fact that Levi and Henry had colluded with the Rebels was indisputable, and the peculiar crossbow that had just appeared in his hands confirmed all our suspicions and investigations. Today’s fierce battle wasn’t in vain.
"Your Majesty, are you saying that the crossbow is from the batch of smuggled weapons that Eric had been investigating, and that it was personally made by Austin?" Elliot had an epiphany, though he was still asking, his heart had already accepted my conjecture.
I nodded slightly, thought for a moment, and then continued, "When Henry escaped from the Royal City last time, didn’t he take Austin’s body with him? Did you notice anything else unusual when you went to secretly investigate Levi today?"
At my words, Elliot bowed his head, deep in thought for a moment before shaking his head and answering, "No, we weren’t even sure when Henry would come. Besides Aiden, his lieutenant, there was no one else I recognized."
What Elliot meant was that he hadn’t seen neither Austin nor Lillian. It was as if the siblings had vanished directly into the Lilo Sea.
"Alright, I understand. You all have worked hard these past few days. Get some good rest tonight; I’ll arrange for others to take over the investigation," I said, waving my hand to indicate that he and his companions could leave. When I turned back to look at the door, Benjamin had already opened it and stepped out.
The moment he saw me, his eyes lit up and he hurriedly took off his mask, speaking to me with an excitement that was hard to contain, "Your Majesty! The Lycan Queen hasn’t been injured. It’s just that she is weak and had been under intense stress all day, which is why she fainted from exhaustion. You don’t need to worry too much."
Hearing Benjamin explain that Margaret was not seriously harmed was a huge relief for me.
I let out a deep breath and nodded, saying, "Good, now I know. Eric’s condition isn’t looking good, you..."
"Also, there is another piece of excellent news I need to report to you—Her Majesty the Queen is pregnant! She is already four weeks along!"
Benjamin and I spoke almost simultaneously, our voices colliding in the corridor and rendering me speechless!
I had heard every word Benjamin had said, but it seemed incomprehensible. My mouth hung open as I looked at him, and after a moment, I repeated, "’Her Majesty the Queen is pregnant’?"
"You mean Margaret is pregnant! She is carrying my child. I am going to be a father?" I suddenly asked Benjamin loudly, an air of silliness enveloping me.
Benjamin seemed startled by my reaction. He paused before continuing with a smile, "Yes, Your Majesty, you are going to be a father! There will be a little prince or princess in the Wolf royal family soon!"
I felt as if my heart had been injected with a rush of warmth, my brain releasing dopamine at breakneck speeds, enveloping me in foolish happiness.
"Then... Margaret is alright? What do we need to do now? Should I go in and stay with her?" I asked excitedly, bursting with energy.
Benjamin’s face showed a kind smile as he calmly assured me, "I’ve already administered a nutrient injection to Her Majesty the Queen. Right now, all she needs is a good night’s sleep. With a bit of caution, ensuring that Her Majesty doesn’t get hurt or overly stressed, there shouldn’t be any major issues."
"Of course, you can go in and stay with Her Majesty now. I need to go examine Eric’s wounds first, but I will come back later to check on Her Majesty’s condition. Don’t worry," he said.
Benjamin bowed respectfully and walked away, a smile still on his face.
I paid no mind to the teasing glint in his eye, waved my hand to hurry him along, and then pushed open the door and entered.
My external injuries weren’t severe, and had already been urgently treated by a doctor while I waited in the corridor. However, the scuffle with Henry had left me looking quite disheveled, as if I hadn’t bathed in days.
At that moment, though, I didn’t care about such things. I was eager to see my Margaret.
I reckon I’m quite a careless father, completely unaware of Margaret’s recent changes, and my child silently crept into our lives.
Of course, Margaret was just as thoughtless a mother!
"Your Majesty, the Queen has already fallen asleep! Would you like your injuries attended to further?" inquired a duty nurse in the room, looking at me respectfully with a suggestion.
Taking a deep breath, I replied, "I will be staying here today. Have someone bring in a change of clothes; I need to freshen up."
Naturally, the nurse didn’t object, nodded her head, and withdrew.
