Abandoned by the Alpha, I Became the Lycan King's Mate-Chapter 344 Crossbow
[Margaret’s Perspective]
Donald noticed something was wrong with me and immediately reached out his arms to embrace me, when suddenly everything went black before my eyes, and I lost all consciousness, collapsing directly into Donald’s arms!
As I closed my eyes and shut out all disturbances from the outside world, a soft, gentle voice suddenly appeared in my mind.
At that moment, my will was blurry, and I couldn’t identify where the voice came from or who it belonged to; I just felt very tired and in desperate need of a good sleep.
What I didn’t know was that my fainting had nearly scared Donald out of his wits.
[Donald’s Perspective]
The sound of the wing slicing through the air gradually faded, and the maniac Henry was finally taken away by Levi.
The wind blew against my face, and as the Lycans expressed their concern, I regained all my senses. As I unconsciously searched for that figure in the crowd, Benjamin spoke up to remind me.
"Your Majesty, the Lycan Queen is on your left hand."
I glanced sideways, slowly got up, and walked toward Margaret.
She stood alone at the edge of the rooftop, her gaze somewhat dazed as she looked into the void. Her face was extremely pale, the usually plump lips now colorless, and she looked incredibly weak, almost as if the wind might carry her away at any moment.
I softly asked her how she was, and she started mumbling to herself, but before she could finish her sentence, she suddenly went limp and collapsed in my arms.
"Margaret! What’s wrong, darling?" I exclaimed, my voice shaking with fear as I crouched down to hold Margaret in my arms.
Her body was abnormally cold. I turned my head to call Benjamin, "Margaret has fainted suddenly, come quickly and check on her!"
Benjamin immediately ran over and quickly checked Margaret’s condition.
It only took him a few seconds to ascertain, and he looked up at me somewhat anxiously, "The Lycan Queen’s body temperature is too low. We need to move her immediately, Your Majesty; I need some equipment to properly assess her condition." 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
I immediately agreed to Benjamin’s suggestion as the environment was indeed poor, not suitable for a prolonged stay. "Have Elliot bring Eric and the others, we need to relocate immediately!"
As I spoke, I held Margaret and stood up, feeling a sharp pain in my leg, bit down hard to suppress it, and led everyone towards the lower floors.
I certainly wouldn’t be without a place to stay in the Lilo Sea; in fact, I was well-prepared for this scenario.
The conflict with Henry and Levi might not go smoothly. To call it a protracted battle wouldn’t be an exaggeration. After all, the Lilo Sea is a region both the Wolf royal family and I find challenging!
The Lilo Sea, White Rose Manor.
I was isolated outside the door by Benjamin and a group of medical staff, standing somewhat helplessly in the corridor.
When Elliot briskly approached with a few Lycans, I finally regained my senses and heard Elliot report in a grave tone, "Your Majesty, Eric has severe injuries; we need Benjamin to check on him immediately! Also, there’s a large crowd outside the manor gates, all requesting to see you."
I wasn’t concerned about who had come at that moment; after all, these people had ulterior motives, and I could afford to keep them waiting before dealing with them slowly one by one.
I turned to look at Elliot and softly replied, "Understood, the situation inside should end soon. Eric really owes you this time; had you not acted decisively to pull him back from such a height, he might not have survived today."
I had learned about Elliot’s rooftop rescue of Eric during the journey here from Benjamin; today, indeed, everyone had a hair-raising experience.
At this, Elliot bowed his head, his expression a bit forlorn, "We definitely had to save Eric, but it’s a pity we couldn’t capture Henry and Levi today."
"Speaking of which, those two lunatics are really ruthless. Who would have thought Henry would go to the extent of biting off his own leg to escape? And Levi, wasn’t he afraid that an arrow might kill Henry outright?"
I quietly inhaled at this moment, my gaze shifting to the glass windows in the corridor, memories from my childhood flashing through my mind, "Henry was always such a person, willing to resort to anything to achieve his goals. As for Levi, I truly underestimated him this time. Deep down, he is the same as Henry. Remember that crossbow he used at the end? I don’t believe that was from the Lilo Sea."
"Your Majesty, are you suggesting..." Elliot struggled to keep up with my thought process, his brow furrowing deeply.
I nodded and affirmed his guess, "That crossbow likely came from the Windstorm Pack, it was made by Austin."
I said, breaking into a laugh, but my eyes filled with sarcasm and gloom, I continued with a sigh, "Austin has always enjoyed tinkering with such things. The power of that crossbow differs vastly from ordinary bows. Of all the people I know, only he would have the skill to make such a device."
